Scythe by Neal Shusterman - Retail Value $18.99 (On Amazon for $11.40)

Lit-joy-crate-december-2016-0025

Book summary from Amazon:

Two teens must learn the “art of killing” in this Printz Honor–winning book, the first in a chilling new series from Neal Shusterman, author of the New York Times bestselling Unwind dystology.

A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.

Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.

Verdict: I think LitJoy Crate is such a delight to unbox! You can tell that a lot of thought and work went into this box to tie all the items in with the book, too. This box is about $40 shipped to the US, so I think the value is there if you enjoy the bookish accessories and items as well. The value for this box came to about $48 (including the Amazon sale price of the box). Plus, this book gets excellent reviews - I can't wait to read it!

Scythe won an ALA Printz Honor Award on Monday. Definitely recommended by librarians everyone. It’s on my too-be-read list.

I think I would probably like this months box more than my 13 y/o, LOL. We are a geeky family so I’m going to keep an eye on this sub and possibly order for some Summer entertainment that is not electronic! Thanks for the review Liz, and I too like how everything tied together with the book’s theme. Plus the ring is pretty cool!
