Bissinger's Dark Chocolate Covered Blueberries - Value $5

The first sweet item of this box was a dark chocolate item.

These little blueberries were more fruity than chocolatey. I don't mind dark chocolate - but I couldn't help thinking about how good these would taste with milk chocolate!

amazon-prime-surprise-sweets-box-a-january-2016-0009

Clairesquares Shortbread & Caramel Dark Chocolate Square - Value $3

The second item was also a dark chocolate item - but the focus of this item was the incredible caramel and shortbread.

As you can tell from the picture - the chocolate is just a thin layer while the shortbread and caramel dominate the taste of this treat. I loved this one!

amazon-prime-surprise-sweets-box-a-january-2016-0012

Kohler Variety Tarrapins - Value $12

The big item of the month was a 4-pack of chocolates.

Each one had a nice little presentation. The four flavors are: Original Buttery, Cranberry, Blackstrap, and Java.

The Java treat was absolutely my favorite, while the other were pretty heavy on the walnut taste - which wasn't a bad thing, but if you don't love walnuts, you might not love these.

amazon-prime-surprise-sweets-box-a-january-2016-0011

Annie B's Caramel - Value $.50

The small bonus item was a chewy caramel stick from Annie B's. This was a nice way to top off a chocolate-heavy box!

amazon-prime-surprise-sweets-box-a-january-2016-0026

They add a little peer pressure to go ahead and press the button again - we certainly will!

Verdict: The value of this box was $20.50 - so it's just over the $18 cost. Liz and I are having a blast getting these boxes - I, personally, love trying these sweets that I haven't ever tried - all items from both of my boxes could be classified as such.

What do you tink of the Amazon Prime Surprise Sweets Box? Did you get you Dash Button yet?

Just got my second box. I’m much more impressed than I was the first time around. One thing I’ve noticed: They’ve stopped printing individual “value” of each item in the box. Curious.

My first 3 deliveries didn’t have the value for each item printed on the card – only my latest delivery had it. So I thought it was something they had started doing. We’ll see over time, as I’m sure there are older pre-printed cards still being sent with or without the value.

Just got my first Surprise Sweets box! I have to say I’m a little bit underwhelmed. If I’d gotten anything from your second box I would have been thrilled!!! Instead I got Three Tarts brand Raspberry Marshmallows (not my favorite), Albina City Nuts candied pecans (yum, but not what I was craving), a BT McElrath Salty Dog Bite and 1 ChocolatModerne White Chocolate (my least favorite chocolate) bar w/ Passionfruit and Cardamom. My box value was about $23, but I’m not sure I would have purchased any of these items on their own, so I will have to carefully decide if these are worth the blind buy.

Those Tarrapins look amazing! I loved how you cut them in half so we could see all the goodies inside. Keep up the good work!

Waiting for my button!

Thanks!

I’m surprised the value isn’t better considering it’s Amazon. I hit the button, but I’m not sure how often I’ll order this. it is so fun to hit the button though!

Amazon Prime is everything.

I agree – Amazon Prime is everything! I still have my fingers crossed that Pittsburgh could get that sweet 4 hour delivery window sometime soon.

I don’t have a smartphone or tablet but I put myself on the waiting list for the button anyway. I am going to try to get it to work in an Android emulator on my laptop. I understand there needs to be sound for setup (the Dash button contains a tiny microphone for this purpose) but after that, it should be WiFi enabled.

My husband will get any coffee (ick) or marshmallow (non vegetarian) stuff and we can share the rest.

For those that have commented how they don’t like the boxes and won’t order — Amazon offers a pretty good return policy! From their FAQ:

Q) What if my item arrives damaged, or I just don’t like the sweets?
A) We want this to be an easy and fun way for you to indulge in new sweets, so we also want to make it easy to get a refund if you are not satisfied. Simply call our dedicated Customer Service team at 888-283-1915 so we can start processing your refund.

Thank you so much for this info, Jonathan! I’m a little picky about sweets — like no coffee type flavors, and I’m not real big on dark chocolate — and I usually buy my goodies at the supermarket bakery and candy aisle, but it would be really great to try.

The value is just not there for me. If i don’t like one or two items it would be such a loss. Plus i have two subs with Love With food and one with Degusta.

Just a note about Prime. I’ve been a member for quite a while and I love it. It includes Amazon TV, which is worth the price alone. I don’t use it but all the music you care to listen to…..and free one or two day shipping on Prime products, which most are and has been a life saver. Amazon has their own shipping service so it’s not always fedex or ups.

Jonathan Lotters

From what I have learned, if there’s even a single thing in the box that you don’t like, Amazon will give you a full refund (you keep everything), no questions asked. I agree that it may not be valuable, but with zero risk, I guess I’m happy to press the button all the time!

Amazon Prime has a 70.00 Gift card for a new credit card approval today plus 5% cash back on purchases too.

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly B

For people trying to decide if Prime is worth it to them, there’s a new perk: if you have the Amazon Visa credit card (thru Chase back, no annual fee, super high credit score NOT required), you can now get 5% back on all your Amazon purchases. Go to your account > manage payment options, then expand Amazon Rewards Visa card and look at Rewards Status. If it’s still 3% (the old amount), there will be a link to follow where you just input your credit card number, and you’ll get upgraded.

I have no affiliation with Amazon or Chase or anyone else and this comment is not sponsored in any way, I’m just a very happy Amazon customer who loves sweets and beauty and subscription boxes and being able to shop online and MSA!

Thanks for letting us know! This may be the push I need to sign up for the Amazon Credit Card! (I LOVE my Prime account!)

I had all my subscriptions on my Ammy Visa and was earning points on the monthly sub charges that I could use at Amazon. (Had to switch due to my card # getting stolen, but am going back soon. Chase was great at dealing with the stolen card issue, too.)

Abby

Is there a way for People who don’t have Amazon Prime to get this? I don’t have Prime, have no interest in getting Prime, nor see a future with me and Prime. But I love chocolate.

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

You can actually pay for Amazon Prime by the month ($10.99) and you can cancel it at any time. That might be an option for you if annual is too expensive or you don’t want to commit for the whole year. I’ve been paying by the month on and off, canceling when I don’t have the extra money in my budget and then signing back up later.

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

Oh wow! Thank you Amy!
That’s so helpful for me as I do most of my Christmas shopping during the Holidays.

Thanks to you – I gotta say I’ve met the best people on this site.
😄😀

Kimberly B

Maybe you know someone who has Prime who wouldn’t mind placing the order for you?

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

My sister is trying to – right now – tell me the benefits of Prime.

My only concern is how many times would I go on Amazon to buy stuff so as to reap the benefits of Prime?

#DecisionsDecisions 🤔

Eric Cadman

At the moment, No – Prime is required.

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

Dang it!

This is an amazing box but Prime is expensive!

Beth L

If I was gonna jump on the chocolate train i would jump on this one instead of the treats sub box. This is gonna put that sub out for sure… Either way the botton is exciting though.
Question… What if you kid or pet ended up pushing that button like 20 times for fun when you not looking? Lol

Reply ButtonReply

Mryia

I have several Dash buttons (not for this box but for other products). If you accidentally press the button, you have the option of canceling the order. I receive a notice on my phone when the button is pressed and if I didn’t mean for it to happen, I could cancel then. As someone else mentioned, it only registers one press until the item is received so pressing 20 times would just result in one order.

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

It doesn’t actually register until the previous package has been delivered. So pushing the button 20 times in a row would only order one.

Tina

I love my Amazon Surprise Box…not sure how to post a picture but I received:

1) bequet caramel soft caramels (4 oz bag) These are amazing!!! ~ $8.50
2) french vanilla swoffle ~ $1.81
3) jcoco black fig dark chocolate pistachio bar (3 oz) ~ $6.50
4) gb stuffer cookie monstah peanut butter cup (this is HUGE! 5.5oz) ~$5.50
5) special extra dylan’s candy bar bite ~ $1.20

Total ~ $24

Renee

I want my button and all that lovely dark chocolate!

Reply ButtonReply

Kira

Is there an option for people with dark chocolate allergies? I like the idea of this box, but wouldn’t be able to eat 95% of what they’ve included so far….

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

Yea, I couldn’t do the nuts and those seem to be in many of their items.
I hope they fix that issue soon. I’d love to get chocolate in the mail!

Reply ButtonReply

Eric Cadman

At the moment, no.

Reply ButtonReply

Valene

I’m still waiting for my invitation. I requested it the day you posted about this box, so I don’t know how long the waitlist takes.

I’m really looking forward to getting this. This’ll be my first dash button too.

The Java sounds amazing, but not the walnuts or caramel. So I’m interested to see what I get, when I finally can get the button.

Reply ButtonReply

Siren

Yeah, I’ve had my button here for as long as you guys have, but I’m just not intrigued with all the dark chocolate and definitely not the java. Bleccch :p. Loathe coffee. No go on all the dark chocolate. This box does look a little better than the last but it’s still primarily dark chocolate and I’m not getting my finger on the trigger to press. How do they get sweets how of this? I’m tasting bitter not sweet 🙁 Sorry Amazon.

Reply ButtonReply

Terry

Send your button back so some of us who would love it can get off the waitlist! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Khaleesi

I think this is awesome idea…just in time to crash those New Year’s resolutions!

I’m passing for now. My husband can give forgive me all my subs, but he would flip over a button that brings me sweets on demand!

I’ll enjoy drooling over these reviews tho 😉

Reply ButtonReply

EC

LOL, I would have to worry about my husband having the dash button. He’s a total sweets fiend.

Reply ButtonReply

Zo

Everything in this box is drool-worthy. I am waiting patiently for my invitation.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Agreed! Although, I may be waiting more impatiently. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Anna C

I am also impatiently waiting! I want my button, darn it! 😉
