The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full size and sample beauty items.
Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)
Vegan Cuts sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Modish Polish in “Control Freak” (full size) – Value $12
This is a lovely color. My photograph doesn’t do it justice. It’s not as black as it looks here! More of a deep, almost oxblood shade of red. Right now I am taking a polish break because my nails are in absolutely terrible shape, but I am definitely going to use this one early in the new year!
Devita Skincare Absolute Minerals Softlines Eyeliner Pencil in “Obsidian” (full size) – Value $14.95
I am happy to try a new brand because if I like the formula, I can always buy it in a different color (my go-to eyeliner colors are blues and purples, with some metallics and the occasional red or orange or magenta or something funky like that).
Anyway, I was not really a fan of this eyeliner. In the swatch below, I had to go over my arm about four times to get it to show up. It was difficult to apply to my eyes and kept pulling my eyelids. I was afraid I was going to slip and gouge my eye. It comes with a built-in smudger, but it is extremely difficult to get enough pigment down to actually do any smudging.
Here is a swatch of the eyeliner.
Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Beautiful Day Cream (0.4 fl oz) – Value $5.87
Now this, I like. It is a lightweight cream that is almost a gel. It absorbs quickly and goes really well under makeup. It has a faint rose scent that does linger for a bit. And it is supposed to be good for sensitive skin.
Crazy Rumors Leaping Bunny Lip Balm in Plum Apricot (full size) – Value $3.99
This is one of the better natural/vegan lip balms I have received in a subscription box. It’s also made in Kennesaw, Georgia, so just up the road from where I live! I liked the fruity scent/flavor and was very happy that this wasn’t all grainy like a lot of natural lip balms I’ve tried lately.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Shampoo (1.2 fl oz) – Listed Value $4.50
Juice Beauty Green Apple Conditioner (1.2 fl oz) – Listed Value $4.50
I guess I didn’t realize Juice Beauty had a haircare line. I knew about their makeup and skincare. (These particular items appear to be marketed as hotel toiletries…) Their skincare products are hit or miss for me. Here, I liked the shampoo and was surprised at how well it lathered, considering surfactant-type ingredients were low on the ingredients list. I felt it did a good job at getting my hair clean.
I was really hoping to like the conditioner, too, but it doesn’t seem right for my hair type. It applied really well and spread through my hair without getting totally soaked up, and it rinsed out well, but I have frizzy hair today and this is the only change I made to my routine. Oh well, at least we got generous amounts of both to try. Although I am having trouble finding either of these for sale to the public so if you like it, you may be out of luck.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $45.81 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. Overall, I like the composition of the box quite a lot – a nice mix of hair, skin, makeup, and nail products, and the value wasn’t tilted too strongly any one way. I’m a little sad, just on principle, that the hair products are hard to find, since part of what I like about subscription boxes (especially beauty ones) is trying new products that I then might go on to buy. The eyeliner formula was also not a hit. But I did really love the polish color, the lip balm, and the day cream.
