Liz, I have a notice in my Sephora mobile app that the January box will be “playing with complexion shades,” so everyone should make sure they have their skin tone and coloring selected on their Play profile. So I wonder if they will also include a concealer or foundation in January, or if the hair care will be color specific in any way.

Oooo great idea!! I am so overloaded with dry shampoo, my dog is going to start getting them.

I also hope the entire box isn’t hair products or something. Would love shampoo conditioner or even a hair mask tho

Since it reads “this January, we’re going to be resetting our beauty routines with a selection of super-effective, innovative makeup, skin care, and hair care,” we can safely assume it’s not an entire box of hair care products. 🙂 The hair care part is only called out because the stylist/line owner will make an appearance in the unboxing video.

We just got dry shampoo, we got an oui texturizing spray back in the summer, and some (including me) got a verb conditioning spray maybe two months ago. I really hope we aren’t getting repeat items because while I think that texturizing spray is ok, I do not want more and have 85% of the bottle left.

Im assuming they are referring to jenn Aniston being part of living proof, and actually, as of Friday, she is no longer affiliated with living proof as they were bought out 100% by some company. The company sells brands like dove, tresemme, nexxus. Living proof will be this companies first high end brand..not sure if living proof is the brand they are referring to, but I didn’t see anything about her own brand, just living proof being associated with her up until friday.

Grace

They are talking about her hair stylist, Ken Paves.

Cassie

It says “Stylist to the stars” not the actual celebrity. And Ken Paves isn’t even her hairstylist or the creator of Living Proof. Chris McMillan is.

Jay

Probably not, as it says “thanks to _her_ line, you’ll be turning heads from afar” (emphasis mine). So, the stylist/product line owner in question is a lady.

I’m still standing by my earlier guess of something from the Sally Hershberger 24k line. She’s been showing up everywhere on social media in the last couple months too. Rita Hazan is also a possibility, as is Jen Atkin (Ouai), but there was a Ouai product featured in the Play! box within in the last 6 months.

Sarah V

Jennifer Anniston is not a stylist to the Stars. Which is what the second clue is. I’d go with Jen Atkin the hair stylist/Ouai product girl.

Dianne

Ouai I’m guessing

Luna

That was my initial guess too, but I saw other names mentioned below which I’m not familiar with, so it’d be nice to try something new (to me). However, I love Ouai products, so I wouldn’t mind getting something from them again… except for the wave spray… since July, I’ve already received three of them in sub boxes, and I use them solely as hair perfume since they’re so strongly scented, and my hair already has waves to begin with so I never see any difference when I use them. Oh! Or dry shampoo… only because I never use dry shampoo, and I’ve already received one from Ouai that I recently gave away (with a ton of other dry shampoos).

Is there a hair product that makes it dry faster? That’s an innovation I could appreciate! I’m expecting items with application methods we don’t usually see. Rollerball blush, splash mask, spray mascara lol!

Tiffany

Paul Mitchell makes “skinny serum” and it really does help my hair dry faster. With or without a blow drier, leaving it silky and smooth. I love it! I know we won’t be getting any from Sephora tho.

Stacey

I know I know… not entirely the same, but as a former dog groomer, I can tell you that most things that’ll help dry your hair faster are also going to dry it out.

Jennifer Pursley

Let’s has a blow dry spray that’s supposed to shorten dry time and protect against heat…it makes my hair so soft and it smells amazing!

Jennifer Pursley

That’s supposed to say Kenra…dang autocorrect!

Luna

I actually received a rollerball blush & a rollerball highlighter in one of the Teri Miyahira boxes from earlier this year. They were so beautiful, and worked really well! Well, I only swatched it on my hand (but it looked beautiful on it, and it blended really nicely) and gave it away because I was too intimidated by it and feared I wouldn’t apply it properly (I have a very unskilled hand when it comes to applying makeup).

Those would be fun to try

Caligirl

There is a product that helps dry faster. Its called my amazing blow dry secret.

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

I see the secret is alcohol. I wouldn’t want to use it in my hair regularly, but it would certainly be a time saver in a pinch.

Renee

I love trying new shampoo, conditioner, and hair masques. I’m even okay with dry shampoo. But I am super over texture and salt sprays.

I just received my first box and wasn’t to thrilled to see the mini sizes vs Ipsy , I did like the perfume though but I wasn’t on the waiting list forever to now be getting hairproducts for my second box , I am going to try a few more boxes then decide if I should keep it ,I hope it gets better!

Can we skip a box?! I am up to my ears in hair product but I don’t really want to unsubscribe…

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

No, unfortunately if you unsubscribe you will have to wait again to try to get the next box. I think it’s better to stay and just swap what you wont use.

Samantha

My hair is pretty fine and straight, so while I’m not opposed to texturizing spray, not sure it would even do anything for me. I wouldn’t mind a hairspray and/or volumizer. Please, no more leave-in conditioners or oils! I’ve gotten mostly those in subs and don’t think I’ll need any for two years, lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Natalie

Please, not another OUAI product!

Reply ButtonReply

HarlowJBD

Agreed.. It wouldn’t be so bad if they could tone down the smell..

Reply ButtonReply

Christine Logan

I haven’t liked a single one of their products.

Jay

I’m guessing Sally Hershberger or Rita Hazan. Both have their own line of products, and are stylists to “the stars.” Also, neither have been featured in a Play! box recently (at least not since May). As long as it’s not texturizing spray I’m ok with most haircare samples. Even the boring ones get used, eventually!

Celeste

Ageeed! If it’s texturizing spray, dry shampoo, or salt spray I’ll be giving a serious consideration to canceling. That’s the main reason I dumped Birchbox when my yearly was up this summer. Not everyone has long locks and I wish that was something we could specify on our profiles. I’ve been rocking a pixie for 7-1/2 years and have no intention of going back!

AmyM

AMEN!!! Same here. I’ll play around with the some of the texture sprays and dry shampoos as root volumizers, just so they don’t go to waste, but I wouldn’t be said if I never got another one.
