After seeing the list of potential items for January, I finally signed up for Play.  Assuming the dozen or so items are correct, there are enough products that interest me that I decided to take the plunge.  If I could curate my own box, I would pick the Ouai Treatment Masque, Tarte FRXXXTION Stick, Farmacy Honey Potion, AmorePacific Cushion Compact, Drunk Elephant Lala Retro, and Pinrose Wild Child.  Of course, chances are probably good that I’ll get everything else, but I’m encouraged enough to try.  🙂

(None of these spoilers are confirmed as accurate or as belonging to any single box, I’m just talking out loud to myself–and laying low because I think they’re on to me, ha!)

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2017!

Where did you see the list of potential items for January? I didn’t see them on here, but maybe I’m just blind 🙂 Thanks!

I know I’m unlikely to be the first to say this – but it stinks that I have to buy something in store to redeem the 50 points. I live over 2 hours drive from my nearest Sephora, which is in a city I never go to.
I’m VIB Rouge, which means I drop a shed load of money shopping Sephora online. You’d think that would count for something. Pooh!
(I still love my monthly Play! box though).

Exactly!!! Same here

You don’t have to buy anything necessarily! If you redeem beauty insider points or a birthday gift you can scan the card for the bonus points. And you can actually just scan the card for the points and have the cashier hit total. There’s an item number there so it thinks there’s something for the transaction to continue. Also if you explain the situation to the cashier they can scan more than one card at a time if you have a month or two backed up. They’re not technically supposed to but they can. I used to be the cashwrap coordinator for a Sephora store.

Carmen

Her point was that she has to actually go into a Sephora store to redeem the 50 points and the nearest one is 2 hours away.

melinda

I thought you could get foundation samples for free in the store. I canceled my subscription. I havent been impressed.

Just got mine too. I really like it. I went to the store and they scanned my card and looked me up with my email, but it still didn’t give me the points. I bought over $100 worth of merchandise. I called Sephora and CS was excellent. She saw that I had bought all the items and added my points from the purchase, card points and bonus points since I had to call them. Now that is great customer service.

It can sometimes take two days for your points to show on your account, especially the extra 50. I have only had one time where it didn’t show, but I also take a photo of the back of my card in case it doesn’t show up. The one time it didn’t I called customer service but they only gave me the 50 points, nothing else. This was also the only time I had someone tell me, in store, that I had to buy something full size from the box and when he scanned the bonus points it charged me a penny $0.01 cents.

My guess is Jen Atkin as a special guest. She does have some new products that will debut in 2017. Not a huge fan of Ouai but I am not completely opposed to the line either.

Yay so Glad I had my color IQ done. And I got my 50 points with a non box item. Bought a sephora favorites box.

Renee

Boo, hate foundation. But the first spoiler makes up for it. 🙂

I have a question about the 50 points you get if you purchase a full-size item from the box. Does it have to be the same shade? For example, in December’s box I received a red lipstick (which I do like), but if I wanted another shade, would that count toward the points?
Thanks!

Sandra

You can purchase anything in the store and use the card. You will earn the 50 points as long as it has not expired. I usually just go an get a face mask and use the bonus card.

I buy anything even sale items. Just needs to be an in store purchase, it doesn’t have to be an item that came from the box. I was last in store two weeks ago with no problem getting extra points.

Karen

me too! I bought a nail polish that was on sale for $1:) and got the 50 points !

Celeste

Sadly I don’t think their staff know how the 50 points work. The only time I’ve been to the store since I started subscribing, the person that checked me out said you had to buy a featured item from that month’s box. I haven’t bothered going into the store since, I just order online.

Bexyrae

I’m almost 100% sure you can buy anything in the store for 50 points. I have the box but I’ve never been in Sephora (too intimidating) but if they sell cheap items that is probably how I’ll be getting my 50 points each month. I’m getting my first Sephora bag today I’m pretty excited!

Linda Camacho

I always buy one of the sephora brand masks $4-6

Reply ButtonReply

Cassie

Same here! easiest way to get the most bang for your buck!

Amy

That’s a great idea! I hadn’t realized you could purchase anything. I happen to love the red lipstick I just got in my December bag.

Theresa

me too! the lip masks are excellent and only $3 each.

Laurabeth

You can buy anything and still get your points- doesn’t have to be anything that came in the box. It just has to be an in person transaction- so at a Sephora store or at a Penneys.

Shyla

I have tried to take my card to a few different Sephoras in JC Penney’s and they wouldn’t take them. They told me only normal Sephora stores take them

Ks

You can purchase any item…not just what’s in the box…unless they changed it.

Am I the only one who still did not get the December box? Frustrated!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Sandra

This was the first month I received mine before the 20th. Check your tracking info and call Sephora if you need to.

Reply ButtonReply

Ash_Kay

Just got mine today. Was wondering when I would get it.

Reply ButtonReply

Chantteé

Nope, mine just shipped!

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

Still waiting on mine but it’s not Sephora’s fault. According to my tracking, it has been in transit from a town about 30 minutes away for over a week 😫😫😫. USPS is awful this year!

Reply ButtonReply

Santa McKenna

I’m in the same boat! I’ve contacted both UPS and USPS and I’ve accepted my box is gone and I’m not getting it this month. I contact Sephora. They dont have anymore boxes to send out so they gave me a refund and 50 beauty insider points.

Karen

I’m still waiting too! UPS tracking says it was transferred to USPS but no tracking info on USPS . usually when it’s transferred to USPS I will get it the next day but not this year!

Amy

Hang in there. I just got mine a few hours ago.

Reply ButtonReply

Zo

Me too. Just opened it.

Mbadarna6

Thank you Haley and Amy! Patience, patience…

Haley Faye

I haven’t either!

Reply ButtonReply

Chantteé

This is cool… Now maybe we can branch out to lip colors other than hot pink and red 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Sandra

I received my first repeat product in this box….a Sephora red lip gloss.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Are you sure it’s a repeat product? When did you get one before?

Asking because you’re literally the first person I’ve seen say the Cream Lip Stain is a repeat.

Samantha

Yay! I wouldn’t mind some foundation or concealer. I got the Make Up For Ever HD foundation deluxe sample free with a Sephora order (used a promo code), and it has lasted for a surprisingly long time and matches pretty closely with my skin tone!

Zo

Something different. I like it!
