Medusa's Makeup Lip Gloss in Rumors - Value $9

medusas-makeup-vegan-beauty-box-november-2016-0007

This lip gloss looks gorgeous (but intimidating) in the tube, but one thing I've learned about Medusa's Makeup is that you can't always trust what the product looks like in the packaging! This lip gloss has just a subtle hint of color and shimmer, and a good amount of shine. Totally wearable!

Medusa's Makeup Eye Dust in Green Velvet - Value $7

medusas-makeup-vegan-beauty-box-november-2016-0012

I'm so impressed with the loose pigment formulas from Medusa's Makeup. They pack SO much pigment and shimmer that you only need to use a small amount for major impact.

This shade is a lovely emerald green with a metallic shimmer. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Medusa's Makeup Lip & Cheek Stain in Moody - Value $8

medusas-makeup-vegan-beauty-box-november-2016-0010

I love the cherry flavor of this lip/cheek hybrid, but I would describe it more as a tinted balm than a stain. It gives just a hint of color, and a dewy finish.

Here it is swatched beneath the lip gloss and the eye dust:

Two easy-to-wear shades, and one eye color for drama!

Medusa's Makeup Setting Spray - Value $8

This setting spray did a great job of keeping my makeup in place, but I did find that it had a bit of a hairspray smell for a few seconds until it dried.

Verdict: This box has a value of $32. I think that's fantastic for a $15.95 beauty box that sends full-size vegan beauty products with free shipping. When they originally launched this box, they advertised a $40 value, so this falls short of that expectation, but I'm still happy with the value. (They've removed that messaging now.)

I think this is a great way to try out Medusa's Make-Up at a deep discount, and it's definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone!

I go back and forth on subbing to this box. Here the reviews make me want it but I have a favorite You tuber who gets this box and everything looks unwearable. I guess I should bite the bullet and do a month to see for myself.

I’ve also been trying to decide whether to get it; I already get more boxes than I should. Do you mean unwearable as in the colors are too much, or unwearable as in poor quality? Who is the youtuber? I’m trying to find some I might like to follow, but it’s hard to choose randomly.

Thank you (and all the beauty box reviewers here!) for always swatching products! I never realized before what a difference it can make. I would have been really disappointed in that lip gloss, expecting the lilac color to look like that on my lips. Their eye dusts are amazing, though!

So glad to hear the swatching is helpful! 🙂 The colors definitely surprised me this month!

I already have my December box and I love it. All things gold or rose gold with a good value. Love the pigmentation of the eye dusts. Glosses and lips are more sheer than they look and allow your eyes to stand out.

Ooh, thanks for mentioning this, Lola! I’m on their mailing list and got an email saying that December is almost sold out, and I’ve been waffling back and forth on it, since I get several other boxes and I haven’t been thrilled with their lipsticks, expecting big color payoff and getting sheer instead… altho if I know they’re going to be sheer, then I won’t be disappointed. I’ve been having a rose gold moment, so that’s a yes for me! Their glitters and eye dusts look amazing.

You’re welcome Kimberly. December is a mascara, a rose gold lipstick (on me), a gold glitter and a pink blush in a beautiful gold container. I find the quality is good. I have had their eye dusts and shadows with some glitters for eight years or so. I recommend using a primer for shadow and dusts and a glitter glue for the glitter. They also sell those items at reasonable prices. The lipsticks and glosses are lighter and more sheer than they look. In fact the purple gloss is virtually clear with very little tint. The blushes can be layered for darker color as can the eye shadows . Eye dusts are highly pigmented and bright. A primer makes them stay on longer. If you want unusual colored dark lip color you can check out notoriously Morbid dot Com. Enjoy the holidays and your new products.

Almost all makeup setting sprays contain a lot of alcohol… That’s why yours smells like hairspray, because hairspray is loaded with alcohol. I’d never spray that on my face.
