This promotional card for ABV Sweets was included this month. ABV Sweets is the bakery from which Meal Time Box sends all our desserts! They are always so decadent and delicious!
This month, Meal Time Box also included a couple of promotional leaflets.
This is the information sheet that came with my family's package. We let the chef choose our meals, and this is a list of what we received. It also has instructions on how to prepare the meals. The meals arrive in an insulated container as seen above, with plenty of ice packs inside to keep them cool. By the time I pull them out of the box they are no longer frozen solid, of course, but so far they have been just fine.
Meal #1: Roast Chicken with Potatoes and Broccoli
Our first meal was roast chicken with potatoes and broccoli. Another recent change with Meal Time Box is that they now package the entree separately from the sides. I think that makes it a little nicer as you can mix and match the sides to the entree you like. We received two of each meal and side. For all of these, I put them in the refrigerator and let them thaw, then cut one end open and microwave for two to four minutes.
Here's how the roast chicken looked prepared. Since we've been subscribing to Meal Time Box, we have a "frozen dinner night" once a month and everyone gets to try something. This was my eight-year old's choice. He dislikes almost everything he tries, but he did pretty well with this dish. Both my sons like broccoli a lot, so he devoured that! I also wanted to mention that this was very juicy, and the greenish cast is due to the herbs roasted under the skin.
Meal #2: Korean Fried Chicken with Brown Rice and Greens
This is the frozen Korean fried chicken with brown rice and greens.
Here it is prepared. This was my ten-year old's choice for frozen meal night, but he didn't like it very much. I tried it and thought it was delicious. He did really like the greens and rice, though.
Meal #3: Chicken Broccoli Casserole
This is the frozen chicken broccoli casserole. It did not come with a side as it is more of a complete meal.
This dish was my choice, and I thought it was yummy. Of course, I am going to pick the cheesiest thing! The rice was a bit dry, which was fine but it meant it required a little extra heating.
Meal #4: Stroganoff
This is the frozen beef stroganoff, which also was a complete meal.
My husband chose this dish, and he thought it was tasty and filling.
Meal #5: Fricassee with Rice and Broccoli
This is the frozen fricassee with rice and broccoli.
I had the fricassee on a separate occasion. I thought it was a little bland, but it still had a nice warmth to it. A bit of salt fixed it right up.
Meal Time Box always sends the most amazing desserts from ABV Sweets! They are so indulgent! We each got a half of one of these rocky road brownies, and believe me, we all wanted more!
Verdict: Meal Time Box is a little more expensive than the frozen meals you typically find at the grocery store, but they taste much better and seem to be much healthier. Regardless of what the individual verdicts above on each meal may say, they are all much, much tastier than your average frozen meal fare. I really like that there aren't a bunch of added preservatives, colors, artificial flavors, sugar, etc. They are also super convenient, so if you eat frozen meals they are definitely worth checking out.
