January is my last box. I unsubed in November anticipating December’s box being a big disappointment and I was right. Some awful color lipstick, yet another gold tone eye pencil, and some glitter gel for my eyes. Most of the items are sitting in a box of “find someone to pawn these off on” items. I really wanted to like GB, but I soul prefer more make-up, less tiny skin samples, and colors that aren’t pulled from the mauve era. I enjoy getting monthly surprises, but not when they’re a huge let down. Going to be finding a new sub.

Some people have posted their January boxes already on IG. Here are some possible contents, in addition to the oOlution eye cream:

-AG hair cleansing cream
-UB cosmetics Secret Flush lip and cheek tint
-Daily Concepts body scrubber
-A “scrub mask” from some French volcano brand

Meh.

I’d like to receive my December box before they start sending out spoilers for Jan. I swear GB sends everything on a slow boat from China, as my dear old dad used to say. It takes forever from ship to deliver.

I am thoroughly done with Glossybox. Their customer service is THE worst. They lead you to believe that their Glossydots mean anything. I ordered the December Glossybox back in NOVEMBER with my 2000+ Glossydots and have emailed them several times, only to wait for weeks to be told it’s coming by the 20th. Obviously a lie since it’s the 23rd and no email about anything coming. They can keep their precious Glossydots and their lousy boxes and I will keep my money and give it to Boxycharm. Better box, better service.

This subscription is the worst!!!! I’m with you, they’re unfair people, they offered with the december box the harayoku lovers perfume just to NEW subscribers!!!! And all of us received the worst products!!! Glossybox you should desapear from the beauty market.

I really wanted this box to have a sweet black friday deal and I still waiting! I don’t think they have as many subscribers as last year to do the 8 or 9 or 10 dollar a box that some were talking about…. Boooo… Maybe in Jan… I really hoped the same for boxycharm…. Ohh well…

You’re not missing much. The December box is not worth even $10 much less the $21 I have been paying as a regular subscriber. My Ipsy bag is of better quality, better merchandise and better value than my $21 December glossybox. Run, don’t walk away from this box. Don’t waste your money. They promise you the world to get you in and then do nothing to keep you as a customer. I am finished with this company.

I absolutely agree!!!!! This company sucks.

Lynne

I agree. The December box is horrible! I thought they would send the best for the holidays but they sure didn’t. I was thinking about buying subscriptions for presents but this box changed my mind about that. Disappointed.

👍👍👍👍👍👍

It’s just as funny when English is translated.

Meh.

My year sub ends in January. It’s unlikely I’ll renew it.

oOlution….anyone ever heard of this brand before? It appears to be a French brand. The English language version of the website is poorly translated and largelyunfinished (the lorem ipsum is still up on some pages). What’s with the name? Is it pronounced ooo (rhymes with “you”)-lution, or like “solution” without the s ? Francophones: Is it a play on a French phoneme? Is it a reference to the o_O emoji? Seriously, what the hell is this name? 😂

French-speaker here (2nd language, but still). No idea. I thought maybe the emoji/emoticon, too. I can’t think of any French words that have a double O. The “oo” sound is typically made by “ou” (rouge, hibou, etc.). So I guess this company name would be pronounced “oh-oh-lution”.

I tried to find some quick info on the company’s philosophy to see if that explains it, and they talk about “less is more” and finding happiness in the little things. I’m not quite sure how that applies as far as the name, if it applies at all. Thinking along those lines, maybe it is short for “revolution” (i.e., a revolution in thought/skin care products), or maybe it’s up to you to add that first sound/syllable, e.g., “solution” or “evolution”.

Or maybe I’m reading way too much into it, and someone came up with the name randomly and liked it.

Unless there’s some cool French thing that would explain it that I’m not hip to, I can’t explain it. Their site is hard to follow owing to the poor translation. It’s easier to read in French than in English.

Let me add that there are probably some people who are native French speakers or who speak French on a regular basis who might have better insight than I do. It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to speak French or do any translation work.

Samantha

Lol. I thoroughly enjoy when things are poorly translated into English, or a variation of it, I should say.
