Five Four Club is a monthly men’s clothing subscription service. You take a brief survey when you sign up (sizes and style preferences), and then each month they send you on average 2-3 new clothing pieces or accessories. For reference, my style profile is “T-Shirt and jeans.”

I've been subscribing March 2013 and in general, I'm very happy with the quality of the clothing and the value - especially the t-shirts. (We’ve found the sizing to be similar to American Eagle’s sizing if that helps!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This month delivered a few winter essentials! I recommend sizing up for their clothing - a lot of tends to run a bit small, it's best to go one size larger than usual!

Crestbrook Hat

The first wintery item this month is a knit beanie.

I think that it's made to be flipped up at the brim and be worn - but that means you'll be showing the tag. Overall, it's a warm and nice winter hat - which I can never have enough of because I tend to just lose these all the time!

Ricker Socks

The second item is a pair of socks. I wouldn't really consider these winter socks, though, as they are still a bit thin to wear out on a snowy day.

The socks have "No Money, No Honey" printed on as well. It immediately prompted me to listen to the Beck song of the same name.

Meister Jacket

The hero item of the month is an all-black winter jacket. Again, you'll want to size up a bit for their clothing, but this turned out to be the perfect size for me. It's warm, but not super puffy.

There aren't any pockets or anything on the inside lining - overall, it's just a basic jacket, but I appreciate that it is pretty streamline for a good winter coat. It'll work for a Pittsburgh winter, but I'm not sure if it will hold up for the areas that get a deep freeze.

It pairs nicely with the hat, too!

Verdict: This is the first winter jacket I've received from Five Four Club after 3 years of being a subscriber. I'm curious if this item is specific to the area you live in - I'm sure that not all subscribers would want or need this jacket - did anyone in a warm climate state receive this jacket? Either way, this was a great delivery for me - I'll actively wear all 3 items this winter, and that's a big win for me this month.

I was very disappointed in my first package. It looked like an outfit I could have put together at Old Navy / Walmart on clearance for about $25. and this was my first package. So I wanted to cancel and return the first shipment because I’ll probably never wear any of if. NO RETURNS. On the phone on hold for over 2 hours over 3 days all to not talk to some one. Finally was able to complete the cancellation today via email. Terrible guest experience.

We didn’t get a winter jacket and live in a cold state. I wish we had. Our jacket is more of a fashionable slicker. It’s water repellant. Perhaps it could go by size? Maybe they didn’t make this fashionable slicker in larger sizes. Like shopping at the mall when you’re not a size 5 or smaller. Otherwise, we got the same items in other colors. Also found it odd that the beanie is very large as to flip up but then you see the tag.

I loved our first box – button down, super nice sweatshirt, and 5 pack of really nice socks – but wish we’d signed up for the bogo instead of half off.

Interesting I received the same hat in black but a very different jacket that is a long light grey wool and very dressy. Because I don’t have a “nice” winter coat (I live in Tucson, AZ) it has been ideal for the six weeks I just spent in Kansas and Massachusetts over the holidays. But I’m sad I didn’t get those socks.

How do they determine inseam length? As far as I can tell on the website they only ask for waist measurements? Thanks!

I called about length and was told their pants have to be hemmed, but if you send them the receipt for the hemming, they will credit you $10 off your next box. I thought that was not a bad deal, at all.She said length is determined by size, ie. 30-34 waist is up to 34 inches long, 34-38 (I think) is 36 inches long, ect. Not sure about sizes other than 34 waist, because that was what I needed to know for my hubby!. Anyway, give them a call and they will explain. I left a request for a callback (Did not want to stay on hold), and was pleasantly surprised to get a return call 30 minutes later. Hope this helps!

sadly you can’t pick you’re inseam length. we ended up ending our subscription because of that. my boyfriend is 6’4 and all the pants were too short.

Eric

If they send pants, you’ll have to get the legs hemmed – they just send them long enough to fit most, and it’ll be up to you to adjust.

My son got a lightweight hooded rain jacket that he loves. It’s about the weight of a windbreaker you’d wear boating, with a hood – almost looks like a sweatshirt. I should have him send me a picture to show. He has received winter jackets before but this was absolutely perfect. He lives in southern CA so it doesn’t get that cold and he didn’t have a rain jacket.

Good to know that they’re sending somewhat regional specific items – thanks!
