Sweet Surprises Subscription Box Review – October 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Sweet Surprises is a monthly subscription box by Bakery Charms, a Hawaii-based jewelry store that offers realistically cute dessert jewelry and accessories. Every month they send you a Bakery Charms piece along with 2-3 extras related to the theme and a coupon code.

Each jewelry piece is handmade out of polymer clay and other materials by self-taught polymer clay artist, Jenn K. Lee. The Bakery Charms piece may be an exclusive subscribers-only necklace, an early release of a magnet/keychain, or a variation of a current bestselling ring, and it will be worth more than the cost of the subscription. The small extras are included to support the featured piece and increase the box’s fun and cute factors.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Sweet Surprises

The Cost: $20 per month to the US, $25 per month to everywhere else. Free shipping.

The info card includes a coupon code that you can use on the Bakery Charms website. This month is Halloween themed!

Exclusive Bakery Charms Halloween Cookie Jar Necklace

This month’s necklace features a mini cookie jar filled with various cookies in fun Halloween colors. They wiggle around in the jar. This is an exclusive design but I found something similar here.

Bakery Charms sells their necklaces with silver plated chains or sterling silver for an additional cost. I assume this necklace comes with regular silver plated chains.

I wish I could open the jar and show you each individual cookie! Each one is different and looks so realistic they’re good enough to eat. I spy a chocolate chip one, one with icing and sprinkles, and a couple of orange ones. The craftsmanship, just like last month, is fantastic.

The necklace hangs several inches below my collarbone.

Halloween Tattoos

Onto the extras! This is a set of four Halloween-themed tattoos. I think my little sister will love these.

Jack O’ Lantern Erasers

These are fitting for the Halloween theme. They don’t erase very efficiently but I think they are more for looking cute, anyway.

Pixy Stix

Looks like trick or treating is happening early and I didn’t even need to dress up!

Halloween Push Pencil

This is the type of pencil with pre-sharpened stubs that you pull out and push into the back of the pen for new lead. My sister will be happy with this as well.

Mini Halloween Memo Pad

This is an unlined memo pad. It’s very small so I’m not sure what I can actually use it for!

Candy Corn

Yes to candy corn. My boyfriend nabbed this. Thankfully I stole one away before he could gobble it all up.

Halloween Stickers Sheet

Last but not least, stickers! They are quite adorable– I love the kitty and the ghost ones.

Verdict: I’m a big fan of Sweet Surprises. The retail value is over the cost of subscription as advertised. If I base it off of similar Bakery Charms items, the necklace is worth at least $22. There are way more than 3 bonus items this time around, too. This box isn’t high on value, but rather, it is a fun way to explore Bakery Charms goods every month. If you are looking for extremely cute and realistic bakery-related jewelry with amazing craftsmanship, I would suggest checking this out.

  1. That seems like a high price tag for the stuff that came in that box. Cute but the box should be 10 to 15 maybe. It looks like Party Warehouse that you would get in a grab bag at a kiddy party… Like the idea though.
