Sketchbox is a monthly subscription service for artists. They provide 5-6 art supplies plus a small print intended to inspire. Additionally, artists are encouraged to share their work with the Sketchbox community, and in some cases, have their work featured in a future box!

I love the design of this box, by the way! This is the artwork of one of their subscribers. Very cool!

On the left is the info card that was included with this month's package. This month is all about markers! It explains why they chose the items they sent. On the right is our "art print to inspire" for the month. The artist is Fatma Sahem.

These are the supplies we received this month:

sketchbox-october-2016-copic

Copic Sketch Markers (x2) - List price $7.99 each

Please note two things. First, I am using the list prices on all these items, but it is quite easy to find them discounted from different websites. Second, subscribers received these markers in varying colors. These markers are double-ended. Very cool.

Spectra AD Markers (x4) - List price $5.15 each

These markers are alcohol based and new to the market. They also have dual tips for varying line widths. These were sent in a variety of skin tones.

sketchbox-october-2016-ironlak

Ironlak Pump Action Ink Marker - Value $6.85

This marker is huge! It uses quick-drying ink and has a pump system for even delivery.

This is my husband's marker sketch. To be honest, he struggled with what to do this month. He's not used to working with big fat markers! So, he just played around with them a bit and made a little cartoon drawing for the kids. It's space men! I guess, haha. I'm sure the markers were a gold mine for some subscribers, but they just weren't really his thing.

Verdict: Sketchbox is great! This month was not totally my husband's forte, but he still enjoyed trying new items. He finds it fun to challenge himself every month to create something using only what he is sent. The value of everything this month adds up to about $43, which is good for a $40 box!

My daughter and I love drawing etc. I’m not completely sold but I’m going to research this sub more. I think it would be fun to get outside inspiration.
