New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-001

This is the first shipment from New Beauty Test Tube 2.0 - they promise 10 full or deluxe size items in every box.

And to go along with the new packaging, we have a new booklet, too!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-007

On the first page is a letter from the Editor, Yolanda Yoh Bucher.

And each page details the items included:

Now, onto the items!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-017

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask - .5 oz Value $8.30

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-018

If you like masks that you can feel working – I think you’ll like this one! You apply it to damp skin, massage in for a few moments, and then it starts to foam! It was foaming for the entire time I wore it (only 5 minutes needed), and when I removed it my skin felt super clean and smooth.

Plus the lemony scent is fabulous, too. (And the formula is paraben free!)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-030

Chi Rose Hip Oil Repair & Shine Leave-In Tonic - 2 oz Value $6.30

This spray oil is designed to protect color-treated hair from heat (tools or the sun). I like the scent, it's very lightweight, and it added shine and helped with frizz, too!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-027

The Seaweed Bath Co. Detox Cellulite Soap - FULL SIZE! Value $7

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-028

This bar is made with ground coffee to help exfoliate (and reduce the appearance of cellulite) and it has the best cinnamon scent! I'm not sure I'll see any significant cellulite reducing benefits, but the soap is definitely a win even without it!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-019

Sonoran Skincare Avocado and Hazelnut Hydrating Hair and Skin Conditioner - 2 oz Value $7.50

This conditioner smells lovely and can double as a body lotion. I tried it as both a conditioner (loved it - very nourishing), and as a lotion (wouldn't recommend - didn't easily absorb into my skin.)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-036

Beauty & Pin-Ups Fearless Hair Rescue Treatment - Value $10

This hair mask is free of sulfates, parabens, and phthalates! (And what awesome packaging/branding, too!)

This is a 5-minute hair mask you apply after shampooing your hair. (It includes a thin shower cap to put over the mask while you wait, too.)

I loved the scent of this mask, and I could definitely feel a difference in my hair after using it - it added a lot of softness and moisture without weighing it down - impressive!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-015

Hairmax Density Revitalizer - FULL SIZE! Value $18

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-016

This formula is designed to exfoliate and deeply cleanse the scalp. You apply it pre or post-shampoo and massage into your scalp then leave it on for 30-60 seconds. I liked the intense peppermint and menthol scent, and I feel like my hair also looks like it has more body...I think!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-034

June Jacobs Spa Collection Mandarin Moisture Masque .5 oz Value $6.50

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-035

This is a super-hydrating gel mask. You leave it on for only 5-10 minutes, then remove - easy! Plus it's free of parabens and preservatives (and it smells lovely, too!)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-037

Soaptopia Bath Salts in Eucalyptus & Tea Tree - Single Pack Value $3

These bath salts are natural, vegan, and cruelty-free! Plus they smell great, too!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-040

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Radiance Split Pan Bronzer + Highlighter Duo - Value $7?

(This pan doesn't have a size listed on it, so I'm guessing on the size/value)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-041

This sample seems to have been everywhere in subscription boxes over the past few months, so it's the only item in this box that feels a little overdone to me, (but to be fair, it's never been in New Beauty Test Tube before.)

Here it is swatched:

liz-swatches-october-2016-001

And to continue being fair, the product itself is actually great. Lovely pigment and shimmer - very wearable for me.

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-038

Miss Spa Bamboo Charcoal Clarifying Mask - Value $8

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-039

This mask is designed to help clear pores. I found it to be a little irritating, so if you have sensitive skin, I recommend avoiding this one.

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-023

Lisa Hoffman Beauty Fragrance Bracelet + Beads - Value $100?

This is a bonus gift included in the first box! (AKA the total value of next month's box probaby won't be as high.)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-024

This set comes with a wooden bead bracelet and fragrance beads.

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-026

You put the beads in the filigreed charm for a slow-release of fragrance - no need to spray perfume directly on your skin!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-025

Here is the bracelet on:

liz-swatches-october-2016-001

I think this is such a great concept, and I really like the French Clary Sage fragrance I received as well!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-020

CBD For Life PURE CBD Face Cream - FULL SIZE! Value $35

(Subscribers will receive either this cream, or the eye serum, or the lip balm.)

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-021

This cream is made with all-natural ingredients, and it was gentle on my skin, too. I love that New Beauty sent a full-size face cream. This alone makes the box worth it to me!

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-029

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener – 7 ml Value $6.75

I’ve sampled this primer before and it works well! My skin feels smoother and ready for makeup. I can’t say I notice any special difference between this and other primers, so I likely wouldn’t buy this in full-size, but I’ll use every drop of this sample.

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-031

Osmosis Curling Mascara - FULL SIZE! Value $25

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-032

This mascara has a wand designed for curl:

new-beauty-test-tube-october-2016-033

This made it really easy to apply to my lashes - I just wish the formula was better! I didn't get the volume I look for in a mascara, so this was a miss for me.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $248. Even without the $100 bracelet extra gift this month, the value is fantastic, plus the sizes of the samples and brands included are great, too. And I think this is a good mix of skincare, haircare, and makeup.

What do you think of the November New Beauty Test Tube? If they keep boxes this good moving forward, I think this will be one of the top beauty boxes in 2017!

Saw this box on mysubscription addiction and jumped on it without hesitation. Since its every other month, the cost breaks down to 15 dollars a month. I am super thrilled and it came fast too! I also got a discount on shipping, er it was free. I savored the unpacking process and took my time marveling at each item; the size, the array of cool goodies!! (if you can’t tell, I’m super excited) makeup, hair and bath products, masks, and a beautiful brown beaded bracelet with scent cage. Favorite item: CBD lip balm which is what originally caught my eye! Yay for CBD products and their healing properties. I wish they had a ‘refer a friend’ link cuz Imma refer all of my friends for this goodie box!

Why is that eyeshadow /blush MK in every box known to women. Its like MK had a buy one get a box free deal for all subscription boxes. I laugh everytime. One month it was in like 10 subscription boxes and now 2 months later I still am seeing it like 2 times a week. I am not saying its a bad products or brand at all and and I know there were a few different types sent out. All though were a brown/red/pink color or the 2 tone.
I always thought this was a really great box and lots of nice brands but I think I like more make-up.

I am excited for this box. I really hope I don’t get the lip balm swa out though, which means I probably will because I just started beauty boxes last month and I already have 6. I don’t even use lip balm.

Lori

Yep. Got the lip balm. It’s a huge value difference and also something I just won’t use, but everything else is nice.

I was super curious about this box but it actually looks disappointing to me. It seems to be basically just tons of face and hair masks. Getting so many of the same type of product is sort of a miss I think.

I’ve been toying with the idea of subscribing to this box for months, but I have to say this box didn’t excite me at all. I’m glad for those of you who are excited for it though! I’ll hold our for the next round to see if that gets me worked up enough to order it 😉

I received one of those bracelets as a free gift from Scentbird on my last store purchase from them. I thought it was so cool but I haven’t really opened it up and sampled it yet. Mine was red beads but I like yours better….still cool though 🙂

I wasn’t sure what to expect with their new 2.0 concept, but it honestly feels like it’s just like their old tube (same number/size/types of products). Not that I’m complaining!!! I’m excited to try these products (I’ll use all but three items… bracelet, highlighter/bronzer & bath salts), and Test tube has always been one of my most favorite subs since I started receiving it earlier this year. I guess I was just expecting more higher end brands and more full sized products. But that’s on me.

Thanks for mentioning that conditioner/lotion wasn’t that great as a lotion Liz! I received that in a different box recently, and I placed it in my body lotion stash. I’ll have to make sure to move it to my hair conditioner stash when I get home. 🙂

Lots of people, including myself, don’t have baths or just don’t take baths (showers only!). When I get bath salts, I use them to soak my feet when I do my once a month pedicure. Just wanted to throw that out there for people who don’t think they have any use for bath salts when there are other uses too! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I actually do this too!!!… but, not as often as I’d like. Since I subbed to so many beauty boxes this year (have since cancelled a lot of them), I received so many bath bombs, salts, soaks, etc., which is way more than I can use. I have a friend who literally takes a bath every day so I’ve been stockpiling all of the bath products for her this year for an awesome Christmas present.

Thanks for mentioning this tip, as I’m sure a lot of people will find it beneficial. 🙂

I just ordered this after reading Liz’s review. I hope I get this month’s box. The face cream alone is worth it for me.
There was a $9 discount that automatically populated so I only had to pay $29.90. Good deal! ??

Wow! So many items! That box was packed!
If they got rid of the extra shipping charge, I’d want to check them out.
I think the bracelet is pretty cool, but not sure about $100. Lol

I subscribed after seeing the It’s a 10 tube takeover and I’m so glad I did. I can’t wait to get this box! The value is amazing and I am excited for that scented bracelet! I have nothing like it

It’s such a great box – hope you love it!! 🙂

Those scented bracelets are a very old idea. They used them in the times of the plagues….. Just a FYI.

They also make them in pendants for necklaces and sometimes are called prayer boxes where yu put a prayer request inside the box to remind you to pray about whatever it is. I don’t if any of you remember Mervyn department stores, but that is where I bought some for my friends and I would say that was about the early 1990s.
