The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
The Subscription Box: Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box
The Cost: $15 a month or $25 a month, depending on which size you subscribe to (PayPal only)
The Products: The $25 a month box includes 4-6 full size Glamorous Chicks Cosmetic beauty products, including loose mineral pigments, liquid lipsticks, mascara, loose glitter, and more. Occasionally there may be products from up-and-coming brands, as well. The $15 a month box includes 1-3 full size Glamorous Chicks Cosmetic beauty products.
Ships to: US (free)
Good to Know: A week or two before the box ships out, you will get an e-mail allowing you to choose three items from among lipsticks, lip glosses, mascaras, loose powder pigments, and glitters. Be on the lookout for this and be sure to respond in a timely manner as the box will be much more customized to your taste if you do. (They may substitute if something is out of stock, but the substitutions they have chosen are really super close to what I originally picked, so I am happy.) This email doesn’t come at a consistent time every month, though.

There isn’t a regular information card with this box, but it does usually come with this glossy, full-color card showcasing some of the Glamorous Chicks lipstick colors. (They’ve printed a new card; this one looks a little different from past months.)
Shimmer Powder in “Lovely Peach” (full size!) – Value $14.95
Shimmer Powder in “Mink” (full size!) – Value $14.95
I was in the mood for warm, not-quite-orange shades this month, so I requested these two. I think they would be suitable for people with a variety of complexions. The “Lovely Peach” one is pretty subtle and might even work as a highlighter. Swatches below. (The value of these together more than covers the cost of the box, for what it’s worth.)
Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Chocolate Fudge” (full size!) – Value $16.99
Brown lipstick is back in, or so I’ve heard. I’m not so sure this shade is right for me (see a webcam photo below) but it was fun to try, and it DEFINITELY looks like chocolate fudge in the package. I think it was not the greatest choice to wear it with a red dress… Anyway, next time I’ll try it with orange or rust-colored clothing, or with a red lip stain underneath, and see if I can make it work. Oh, and this really is long-lasting. I had to use a makeup remover wipe, scrub, and Clinique “Take the Day Off” all in a row to remove all traces. (This one pairs best with a gloss or balm as it is a bit drying.)
Two Eyeshadow Brushes – Value $2?
I could be way undervaluing these, but there was no brand on them and if you search for “large shadow 05” brush online, you get tons of hits in all sorts of price ranges. I am estimating them to be at the lower end of the range since they have no identifying characteristics and are made in China. These actually seem to be decent quality, though (they’re not scratchy and they don’t shed hairs so far), and I will use them.
Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare 4-in-1 Combing Crème (0.5 fl oz) – Value $0.63
I get the impression that this product is mainly marketed for use by women of color. However, the product includes ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, and jojoba oil, and this worked just fine as a conditioner for my dry, Caucasian hair. Plus, in general, I do like Carol’s Daughter hair products (the monoi repairing shampoo and conditioner in particular). (I got this same foil last month…)
Here are swatches of the lipstick, the eyeshadow in “Mink,” and the eyeshadow in “Lovely Peach,” from top to bottom.
Forgive the quality of the webcam photo and the frizziness of my hair. Anyway, here is what the lipstick looks like on.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $49.52 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. Your value may differ a little depending on the products you choose when you responded to the selection email. (But, on the other hand, you are getting items you chose in colors you chose, so there is a lot less risk!) That is a pretty typical value for this box. I think this subscription is best for people who (1) like adventurous colors in makeup (you can get green and blue lipstick) and (2) who would buy makeup from the Glamorous Chicks shop regularly anyway because this subscription is cheaper than purchasing individual items a la carte. (You don’t get to select from everything on their site when you choose, but loose mineral pigments, glitters, and some lipsticks/glosses are always offered.)
