Byrd’s Chocolate Cheesecake Cookies - Value $3?
I was really dismayed to find these exact same cookies in my box that I didn’t care for and were featured only two months ago in August BoCandy. This is also three months in a row of Byrd’s cookies; I really wish with so many amazing companies out there BoCandy would branch out more. They were dry, crumbly chocolate cookies with a white “cream cheese powder” sprinkled on top. Nothing about these cookies is reminiscent of cheesecake to me.
Ola Pola (1.4 oz.) - Value $0.89
Delicious! These crisp wafers were filled with layers of chocolate cream and the entire bar was dipped in dark chocolate. This Polish cookie tasted great and was so fresh.
Karla Tajitos with Chili - Total Value $0.28 ($0.14 each)
These lollipops are watermelon flavored and then they are covered in hot chili powder. It just isn’t a flavor combination I can get behind.
Lucas Salsagheti Mango - Value $0.50
These gummy strands are the consistency of a Twizzler pull and peel. Firm and chewy, they’re covered in a spicy powder that made them quite off-putting to me. They also come with a packet of hot cause if you want to dip the candy in that and make it even hotter.
Swedish Peppermint Candy Stick - Value $1.99
This large and beautiful peppermint stick is a sweet and slightly softer version of a candy cane. It’s quite thick and would certainly last for a few days. I love the red and white paper wrapper.
Anthon Berg Marzipan Bar - $3.75
Wow, this was a huge candy bar! It contained a soft marzipan center enrobed in shiny dark chocolate. Marzipan is an almond paste made with sugar and this bar hails from Denmark.
Verdict: This month’s box was my least favorite to date. While I was happy to see that as the cooler weather has arrived the box contained more chocolate, the spicy candies and repetitive Byrd’s cookies made this box a flop for me. The value was quite low too at only slightly more than $10.
