Cirque Colors Mini Nail Lacquer – Value $5.00
This Circque Colors Nail Lacquer is a mini and I don’t see that size for sale on their website so I linked to the full size. The color is XX which is a fun polish made with 20 different types of holographic glitter. It’s also a 3-free polish meaning it doesn’t contain toluene, formaldehyde or dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Circque recommends using this glitter polish over another base color, but I used it directly on my bare nail with two coats so you could see the true glitter effect.
Moody Sisters Organic Mascara (full size!) – $12.50
This mascara is organic, vegan and water resistant. I received a matte black color and it gave me a very natural look. This wouldn’t be the tube I’d reach for to give me dramatic going out long lashes, but it’s perfect for a daytime casual look. I think it’s great for a teen (the intended box demographic) because it doesn’t look like falsies. It also had a very pleasant smell.
Malibu Soapworks Brush Wash – $10.00
What a great idea to include brush wash in a tween/teen beauty sub. It’s so important to teach girls just starting to use makeup the importance of keeping their beauty tools clean. This brush wash is organic and vegan. Instead of a liquid brush cleanser, it’s a solid cake. You wet your brushes then swipe them back and forth over the brush shampoo to create lather. The wash is made with coconut water, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and kosher food-grade sodium hydroxide. It’s safe for synthetic and natural brushes.
E.L.F. Shine Erasers – $1.00
These blotting sheets help absorb oil without having to apply powder. This slim pack fits nicely in your bag without taking up much space and contains 50 sheets.
Keeki is a new brand discovery for me. This lip balm is 100% organic and 100% edible (makes sense for something that we end up ingesting!), soy free and gluten free. There may be variations on the flavors received in the box since the information card didn’t specify. I got Rootbeer Float which is okay, but not my favorite. I might have to try out the Lemon Meringue Pie though, because I love citrus flavors and this formula was very moisturizing. The cap has a clip making it easy to attach to your backpack.
This coarse facial scrub felt had a wonderful minty fresh smell. It’s organic, vegan and handmade in the US. I can’t attest to the pore-refining claims from the small sample, but I liked how it smelled and left my skin feeling cleansed but not at all greasy. Moody Sisters also recommends using this scrub on rough hands, feet or elbows.
Verdict: I’m so happy with my The Better Beauty Box again this month. I love how this box aims to introduce tweens and teens to natural beauty alternatives and isn’t too heavily based on make-up. I also think this box is great for adults who are more natural in their beauty routines. The value this month came to more than $32 (including the sample) which I’m very happy with.
What do you think of this month’s The Better Beauty Box? If you’ve tried the The Better Beauty Box I’d love to know if you ordered it for yourself or for a teen/tween.
