Halcyon Days Gold Hinged Bangle (colors will vary) – Retail Value $165

luxor-box-september-2016-008

I love this bright pop of orange against the gold metal! The hinge mechanism on this bracelet is so slick, too!

luxor-box-september-2016-009

This piece looks great alone, but could also work well in a stack:

luxor-box-september-2016-010

This bracelet is 18K gold plated with colored enamel.

luxor-box-september-2016-011

(It has a 7" inner circumference.)

Rose et Marius Eau de Toilette Roll On (scents will vary) – Retail Value $40

luxor-box-september-2016-014

As usual, the Rose et Marius packaging is lovely!

luxor-box-september-2016-015

This roll-on perfume is described as having top notes of fig leaf, mandarine, and orange blossom. It's sweet, and probably my favorite scent from this brand.

luxor-box-september-2016-016

And that leather cap! What a fab detail!

Mottahedeh Heirluminare Votive – (colors/scents will vary) Value $60

luxor-box-september-2016-018

This candle is a combination of efforts from Mottahedeh & Company, a luxury porcelain design company, and Vila Hermanos, “a small prestigious candle factory located in Spain.”

luxor-box-september-2016-020

More exquisite packaging! This candle is just ready to be gifted!

luxor-box-september-2016-021

The candles are made from 100% natural wax (no palm oil) and fragranced in Grasse, France.

Subscribers may receive one of four versions: Green Lace, Cobalt Blue Lace, Cornflower Lace, or Green Apple Lace.

And the last card covers two different items:

luxor-box-september-2016-025

John Beswick Pocket Mirror (patterns will vary) – Retail Value $30

luxor-box-september-2016-023

This is a really well-made mirror. It has a good weight to it, and a sleek magnetic closure.

luxor-box-september-2016-024

There's a magnifying side, too.

luxor-box-september-2016-026

John Beswick Ceramic Vase (patterns will vary) – Retail Value $35

This vase is 7 1/8" tall with a 2 1/2" diameter.

luxor-box-september-2016-027

As soon as I saw this is the variation of the vase that I received, I had the perfect person in mind for it - it's going to be the best gift ever!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $330. I think that value is good for a luxe box - about $200 over the cost. I also think Luxor Box seems to do a good job at finding quality brands that subscribers like and sticking with them! I've been enjoying receiving multiple items from brands like Rose et Marius, so if you like the brands you see in this box, I think you'd be happy subscribing.

What do you think of the September 2016 Luxor Box? Do you like seeing some of the same brands in Luxor boxes?

I see mention here of a subscription called Gift Izzy. For those of you who have tried both Luxor and Gift Izzy, could you share which you prefer (and why)? I think I’m finally up for one of the luxury boxes and sort of like the bracelet for March’s Luxor box.

Thanks!

Liz, how would you compare the fit of the Halcyon bangle with the Miansai cuff from RZ? Do you feel like it bigger than Miansai circumference wise? Appreciate your help greatly

Liz Cadman

I think the bangle is larger than the Miansai cuff. (The bangle can move around a bit on my wrist, the Miansai cuff just fit perfectly – any tighter and it would have been too tight.)

Hope that helps! 🙂

Question…
Is the Halcyon Days bracelet round or oval? Mine is oval and I’m thinking it shouldn’t be. I Would really appreciate feedback. 🙂

Liz Cadman

Mine is oval. Hope that helps!

Yes is does. Thank you. I was worried it was a defect.

If I win some money the first couple of things I would have to buy is a few really expensive subscription boxes that I drool over month after montb. Sad right. But it is true….

If someone is not happy with their box, I’d love to buy the whole box or some items (i’m least interested in the candle). Please email maya.thevenot [at] gmail if interested.

Although I didn’t like the July box very much (particularly the clock and skin products) I really enjoyed the Black Box and the Sept. edition. I love the Halcyon Days bracelets in both and have actually started collected them. I also really love the Rose et Marius tumblers and soaps. It would be nice to specify colors for bracelets and such, but I think people would be happier if Luxor stayed away from orange bracelets and the like. More neutral and feminine colors (like pink) seem to be more pleasing to the masses. And although the Heirluminare candles are not my cup of tea, I can appreciate their quality and the set from the Black Box was great for swapping. Also, I think people don’t realize the edition in the Black Box contained 2 candles and a tray. The tray is what also increased the value over what was provided in Sept. The single candle was perfect for me to keep in the Sept. box. I do wish Luxor had a bit more brand diversity, but I have been pleasantly surprised so far. Have not had the CS issues yet and hope to have a different experience if I do.

I signed up for the bangle. I got a color that I’m not super thrilled about – but finding it hard to swap for other colors. I’m happy enough because I only wanted the bangle. The rest of the box doesnt work for me. It would if I didnt pay $650 already for the black box (the perfume and candle are now repeats – even if the scent isn’t…. this rollerball scent has rose in it and that doesnt work). 🙁 the other items are not my style (vase/mirror).

If I didnt shell out all that other money, I would be SUPER happy with this box. …but not with the repeats (and color sent). Wish we could pick our colors. But know that would be a nightmare logistically for them. Oh well.

Overall, the CS has been pretty good to me. In middle of little hiccup, but will see how it progresses. I do want to defend them on that front a little.

MyMilkShake

gosh, just realize even my fragrance scent version is the same exact scent that was sent in a previous limited edition box – Agrumes. Didnt even get a variation there. Most items are listed.

Jennifer

MilkShake – The bangle is the one thing I wasn’t interested in. Sounds like a perfect box for us to split, if you’re interested in selling the rest (or swapping…but I haven’t added items to update my swap list in a while).

Joanna

Signed up because of the bangle and I’m thrilled! It’s nice to get costume jewelry, but this was fine jewelry and at that price, I think it was a bargain. I got the cream color, which I wouldn’t have picked for myself, but I actually really like it. The roller ball I also love!! The other items helped me swap towards something I’ve always wanted. My two boxes (summer special box and this one) with Luxor have been good to me so far. We’ll see if I stay on for November.

I was so excited and happy with my Luxor subscription last summer, that I cancelled all of my other subs. Now, however, I’m starting to feel a little blah about LUXOR. The last few boxes I’ve gifted most of the box but liked only one or two items for myself. I also am happy that I didn’t order the Black Box because these are basically the same items with slight variation. I wish they would use new vendors. I’m tired of Mottahedeh, I don’t like their design. Feels like my grandma. Doesnt match my Potterybarn/ Restoration Hardware decor. Rose et Marius…this is the fourth time I’ve received this product and all in the same scent that I dislike. I liked the soap though. I love Brandon Blackwood but I’ve received about 6 purses from Luxor in the last year. I love candles and wish we could just get a really nice Henri Bendel or something. I think I like the consumable items best. The customer service responses seem to have change over the last year.

Tamara

Oh gosh, I want MORE Mottahedeh! The only other thing from them Luxor has sent out was the mug in January’s box. The candle isn’t 100℅ my style, but we LOVE that mug. I’m very impressed with their quality.

Wendy

I can’t believe they can get away with charging that much for a box, the stuff is way over valued. I agree with others that the Robb Vice sub is way better and at half the price. I am surprised that cheaper sub’s get ripped apart for not having enough value or quality items but boxes like this its supposedly “valuable” because it cost so much.

Reply ButtonReply

Monica

The items in this box are truly high end. If you want to purchase them individually, you will have to pay full price…. Period.

Reply ButtonReply

Wendy

The only item that seems high end is the bracelet at best. The edging on thee print for the vase is pretty rough, I can see the line just in the picture. It equates to $26 per item, half of which I have seen in pier one or the home goods store for cheaper. Of course value is in the eye of the beholder and if someone think $120 for 5 “high end” items than yeah by all means spend the money. I am just commenting on the fact that I don’t see the quality of most of these items as being well made enough to be considered high end from my experience…Period.

Tracy

I spent months reading rave reviews, on this board, about the Luxor boxes. I read all of the past reviews of their boxes also. I finally took the plunge & gave them a shot back in Feb for the Love Valentine box.

I was soooooo beyond disappointed with it. It was a waste of $250 when I spent that on the Popsugar Must Have LE Neiman Marcus box 2 months earlier & what a stark difference between the 2 boxes when In came to quality! Because of that one bad experience, I just can’t give Luxor a shot again.

I really wish j could!!! I keep reading reviews on their boxes. With battling breast cancer this year along with losing a huge chunk of income going with it, I just can’t afford to waste my money. If you go back a year or two with them, it seems they had better boxes. Maybe that’s just my perception. Who knows???

I have to be honest, I loved the past boxes. Not July, I have enough awards, thanks, but all of the rest, I truly enjoyed getting. I am worried though as they have really poor customer service (see the forum as so many have had problems). They barely stand behind their products if they are damaged and try to demand that the customer send back the damaged item (yes, fine) but at the customers expense (no) and pay for the hopefully non damaged item to be shipped (nope). They push exclusive black box at $650 as exclusive, you can only get here, but then include items from this box in less costly mystery boxes. They sent damaged backpacks out and when one was returned, they shipped the damaged one to another forum member, They push you off then claim the 3 day time for replacements has lapsed. I enjoy that they copy other Le’s/luxe boxes and maybe stalk the forum for what we really want in a box and put it in their boxes, but standing by your products is important. I’m wary on staying due to their horrendous customer service. This isnt an inexpensive box, but $129. (a little overpriced and should be $100) I dare say, Popsugar has far better customer service and is kinder than Luxor’s snootiness and unwillingness to stand behind the products they send when proof of damage is shown

I had a blanket come with tears at the seams in January. It looked like a floor model, dusty, just bad. I emailed Customer service that day with pictures. They demanded I pay for the shipping to return the blanket and pay for the label for the replacement item. It wasnt a fun exchange and honestly, I am the customer, shelling out money for a surprise box that should be fun. This exchange wasnt fun or pleasant in any way. I let them know I would send the box back at their expense and start a chargeback. Only then did they agree to pay for the shipping. It took about a month and more of a hassle than needed. Took the fun away. I have cancelled recently and thought about resubbing but honestly, as much as I enjoy the boxes except for July and Sept, I dont know if its worth the risk of ever receiving a damaged item and having to go into battle. Customer Service is important to me. Im fine with their 3 day rule and pictures (which should be provided) but not cool with paying for return shipping on items they should have inspected at the packing process. I am thinking Gift Izzy is the way to go for me to replace Luxor. I also get PS LE’s, thinking of oui please (slow but nice customer service) and of course stkcking with my tried and true and love getting zoe BOS, Robb Vices and others that seem to round it out.

Jessica

Gift Izzy is amazing!

Adele

I love Robb Vices! I was in my FedEx account today and saw that the label was created for my September box and got all excited.

Adele

I didn’t know about all these customer service issues! I canceled yesterday and I was at the $95 price. I was tired of all the variations. Always managed to get the color, etc. I wanted least and with the entire September box being that way I was done. This isn’t the box for me anymore.

I didn’t even have to send anything in due to my broken/leaky perfume bottle & it was taken care of immediately! And after the 3 day window. I also received a damaged Rose Et Marius soap block, sent email and pictures. It was replaced immediately with an apology! Told me I could enjoy the damaged soap instead of it sitting out. Have been quick to respond and extremely helpful, kind.

Leah

That’s so interesting. I’ve always found them such a pleasure to deal with. In fact, in my mind that’s one of the big reasons I like this sub! I feel like I’m dealing with a decent human being at the other end who actually wants to make this experience special.

Reply ButtonReply

JillA

I never had issues with them either. If you are nice and calm when dealing with an issue then CS is more likely to work with you. If you’re nasty or mean then CS might not be so willing to help.

nelliebelle1197

Really?? My two interactions with CS convinced me to cancel. I have never dealt with less caring and stuck up CS!
