The Beauty Vault VIP subscription from Le Metier De Beaute is a luxury beauty subscription box that cost me $348 upfront for the entire year.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Le Metier de Beaute Hydra Plump Lip Serum - FULL SIZE! Value $95

lemetierdebeautebeautyvaultvip_092016-005

One thing to mention - products that come in this subscription usually do not come in their additional packaging that you would get if you bought them in the store. (For this reason, I don't have any visibility into the ingredient list for this lip serum. I've reached out to customer care to get an ingredient list since I can't find it online either.)

UPDATE: Customer care quickly responded to me and provided the ingredient list:

The metal applicator tip makes this very easy to apply.

The formula is a cream that absorbs into your lips almost instantly. There's a very slight tingly feeling that fades, and in general I thought it made my lips look and feel more hydrated. I can't say I noticed a huge plumping difference, but this would be a great product for anyone who wants a lot of moisture without the feeling of wearing a balm. It also could work great under lipstick.

Verdict: A $95 luxe beauty item for $29 is not bad! I'm happy with the value and product selection for this first month. I was a little surprised to see this luxe subscription arrive in a silver mailer sleeve, though! (I was expecting a fancy unboxing experience!)

What do you think of the August Beauty Vault VIP box?

I had this sub last year because prior years had looked so good. Last year though was really disappointing! I would actually get annoyed when opening up the boxes most months because it was like, “I paid how much for this??’ The packaging was cheap- for example, they packaged a brow powder in a powder foundation compact so the brush was just clanging around in the bottom section of the compact. They also had too many skin color specific products like a foundation. I hope for your sake that they’ve improved this year!!

I had this sub last year and it was very disappointing! Looks like this year is starting off better. I didn’t like that the packaging often felt cheap … and this is not a cheap product. Getting in touch with them is nearly impossible. I had to change my mailing address and I began to attempt to contact them 2 months before the move. I finally received a response through a PM on FaceBook. I had to Email them every month to remind them to send my box. Much too labor intensive to deal with them!

Not having the original packaging bothers me, makes it seem “cheap” like maybe they were samples for stores or something. Sad for a high end brand.

I tired to swap for this to no avail. I was in their program for last 2 years and last year was disapointed with what they sent out so didn’t do it again.

I just posted mine to the swap site if you’re still interested!

Too bad they only do annual subscriptions. I would definitely subscribe if they offered a 3- or 6-month subscription.

It looks like this sub is no longer available. Do you know if they always open it back up in May? The past reviews look fantastic!

Awesome! I was hoping you would review this one again! I am really happy with the lip product and received the water bottle and eyeshadow quad as well!

I am fine with the minimal packaging too. I hate throwing out all these boxes or collecting them when I am running out of space. I reuse my Glossyboxes and my Birchboxes as well as the Popsugar LE boxes.

With that said, I was a little disappointed that they just sent this, but it is a new product and I like it. I don’t really need lip plumpers and would not buy them. I finally subscribed because I read good things about this luxury brand. It does make my lips soft and plumps it a little and I use it instead of a lip balm or lip gloss. Its great for when I do not want to wear lipstick, which is most of the time.

As for value, it definitely is there – so I am happy. I would pay $29 for a good lip plumper if I needed it. There is also a good amount of product in it. Overall, I am happy with it.

One other thing, they had a promotion in May that if you signed up you would get this cool water bottle. I wish I had known about that. I saw it on their Facebook page. Also, people who resubscribe also get an extra gift, so some re-subscribers received an eye shadow quad. So some people got the lip plumper, a cool metal water bottle, and an eye shadow quad.

I like minimal packaging. While the value is there, it’s kind of an expensive gamble. I would rather spend money in something I need than get a lip plumper that will sit in my makeup pile until it expires. ?
