Retro Pop Box is a subscription service that sends pop culture items and relics from your favorite decade! My favorite decade is the 1970's. I was barely alive then, but I love the fashion and culture from that era. They also offer an 80's box and a 90's box!

Don't Jump the Shark Exclusive T-Shirt - Value $15?

OMG, I totally remember Fonzie jumping the shark on waterskis on Happy Days! To a small child, it was exciting, but this scene is where the phrase "jumping the shark" came from, which means that a television show has used a horrible gimmick so impossible that it can only mean that the show is in irrevocable decline. Hahaha! This is too funny! I put the tee on my dress form so you could have some idea of how it looks on. I tried putting it on myself, but my curves made it kind of impossible to read, sorry!

Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket (exclusive) - Value $3?

Aww, I loved this movie and was so saddened by Gene Wilder's recent passing. This is a nice tribute to him. He was a funny guy.

The golden ticket is Retro Pop Box's fun fact item of the month, so they put this sticker on the back of it.

Evel Knievel Pack O' Danger Air Freshener - Value $4.95

I have fond memories of Evel Knievel from when I was little, but wow. I don't know if "freshening" would be the adjective I would use to describe this scent. It is a very heavy old-school men's cologne fragrance. I think my Dad smelled like this in the 70's. It's great for jogging the memory, but I don't know if I could handle my car smelling like this!

Talking Moustache Keychain by Kikkerland - Value $3.28

Speaking of my Dad, this is the exact moustache he had in the 70's too! It was a point of pride back then to have some righteous facial hair (as it is now, I suppose). Here it is in action:

Yep, that's all it says. But really, that's plenty.

Golden Egg with Laffy Taffy- Value $2?

Plastic Eggs and Laffy Taffy! I'm not sure what else could be more 70's than that! We have all seen and tried Laffy Taffy before, but there's just something extra special about getting it in a golden plastic egg!

70s-retro-pop-september-2016-note

The next day, I got a little padded envelope in the mail from Retro Pop Box. This note was enclosed. This kind of thing happens from time to time with subscription boxes, and I'm totally fine with it.

70s-retro-pop-september-2016-magnets

Evel Kneivel Magnets - Value $5?

Cool! I love Evel Knievel. I know his stunts were amazing back in the day, but I almost love him more for inspiring all the great daredevil-based comedy in pop culture over the years!

Verdict: I love my 70's Retro Pop Box! Every month so far has been awesome! I think the shout-out to Gene Wilder was also a really nice touch this month. The value this month is around $33, which is good for a $25 box, but it's a little less than what I usually get from them. I'm sure it will be better next month, but like most subscription boxes, will fluctuate a bit. Hope your day is far out!
