Five Four Club is a monthly men’s clothing subscription service. You take a brief survey when you sign up (sizes and style preferences), and then each month they send you on average 2-3 new clothing pieces or accessories. For reference, my style profile is “T-Shirt and jeans.”

I've been subscribing March 2013 and in general, I'm very happy with the quality of the clothing and the value - especially the t-shirts. (We’ve found the sizing to be similar to American Eagle’s sizing if that helps!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

I only received two items this month - both were a bit outside of my style profile, as well.

Five Four Club September 2016 - 3

Caswell Button Down

The first item was a long-sleeved button down. While it's probably time to start thinking Fall, I'm still clinging on to the summer - so this was a something that I wouldn't start hoping to receive until October. While it's a nice button down, it'll have to wait until fall!

Manor Relaxed Pant - Khaki

This is so not my style. Every once in a while, I feel the need to try and pull off a khaki, and by now I've learned my lesson - no khakis! One thing to note with Five Four Club pants - they don't ask you for pant length, so you'll have to hem these on your own.

Verdict: This month was a let down for me. The good news is, I don't often say that about Five Four Club. I'll definitely end up using the flannel shirt - but the seasonality of the selection was a bit odd. Make sure you go into your style profile on the site and rate each delivery - it does help with future shipments. Even better, I was able to choose that I didn't like the button down due to seasonality - I appreciate that type of refinement!

I’ve been with 5/4 club for 3 months now. Had a stellar first package in July. The double. Got some amazing shorts, two bad ass shirts and a couple of Ts that I’ve even been able to pull off a work with chinos. I was loving life, rate that package a 10/10. Then I got August and I got a nice light hoodie, some khakis that are a little snug but passable and another sweet T. I’d put that delivery at 8/10. Then September came and I got a bomber jacket and a tshirt. Seriously. I live in LA, where 5/4 is based mind you. How can they think September was a good month for ANY jackets? It was hot as HELL and will continue to be in the 80-90 range for another 30-45 days.
I promptly called to cancel and they apologized. They sent me off an extra sweet striped T for free and gave me a credit toward my next month if I stayed on. Generous and understanding response. I’ll stick with them for a little longer, although honestly, after a year of clothing subs, I’m out of room in my closet!

All the items are made in China. You usually get one good style item in a $60 shipment. Why would I want t-shirt, hats, or socks with their logo? They should be more specific on the sizes since everyone has different lengths for dress shirts. I wouldn’t recommend.

Man, they sure do love sending plaid shirts eh? I mean I love plaid, don’t get me wrong but my boyfriend is more of the classic type (I’m guessing based on what he wears) so I wanted to look at your reviews to see what types of clothes they sent and I don’t think khaki’s and plaid shirts will cut it. Or hoodies sadly (which I’m trying my best to break him of, hahaha).

I was wondering how bang on they are with the style profile? I mean if I choose classic will he get “older” men’s clothing? He’d kill me then, hahaha

Looking at past reviews, love the photo shoots with Buckles 🙂
