Pop In A Box is a Funko POPs subscription that helps you build out your collection every month! They've started to ship to the US earlier this year, and I finally caved and gave it a shot! You can sign up to receive 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, or 12 POPs each month. This is a review of a 6-POP delivery.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a no-frills subscription. You'll be getting the amount of POPs of your choice in a plain brown box - not really photogenic :).

The Subscription Box: Pop In A Box

The Price: $9.99 and up + Shipping (My shipping was about $5)

The Products: Pop In A Box allows you to grow your POP! collection every month with a guaranteed mystery Funko POP! Vinyl that's not in your collection.

Ships to: US, UK, and Canada

This box ships very quickly, so they must have distribution in the US now. About 2-3 days after I was charged, the box was at the door.

I went back to a 6-POP box, it still provides good value and it reasonable for the budget.

Here's a quick run-down of creating your PIAB account:

The first thing you'll want to do is set up your collection. This is an important step to ensure that you don't receive a duplicate POP or a POP that you may not care about.

individual POP

You can cycle through POPs and selection options for each one. Mark 'I HAVE THIS' for POPs you have and avoid duplicates. Give POPs a thumbs down to let PIAB know that you don't want it, and mark it as thumbs up to let them know that you're really interested in that specific POP.

PIAB collection

There are a TON of POPs to go through. I haven't even gone through all of them, but in the end, you'll have built your own collection! This will help you keep track of what you have, and it will help PIAB know what to send.

Ok - on to the POPs!

POP in a Box July 2016-118

Hateful Eight: Major Marquis Warren POP

My first POP completes my Hateful Eight collection! I was excited to unbox Samuel L Jackson's character from Hateful Eight - the best character/actor in that movie, in my opinion.

Black Canary

My second POP is my first in the Arrow line, surprisingly. I made it thorough 2 season of Arrow, and I enjoyed both, but I never picked it back up - and the thought of having so many episodes to catch up on is a bit daunting, to be honest.

Big Hero 6: Fred POP

Liz and I both really enjoyed Big Hero 6 - and I'm starting to fill out the POP collection. Fred was one of the Big Hero 6 POPs that I had been hopefully for, because the costume is just awesome.

Big Hero 6: Go Go Tomago POP

Another Big Hero 6 POP to add to the collection. With this addition, I only need 2-3 POPs to complete the set!

Orphan Black: Rachel Duncan POP

This is another show that Liz and I really enjoyed but haven't continued. I think we got through season 3? It's been a while. But, it's one that I'm sure we'll complete - that first season was great!

Orphan Black Rachel Ducan Pencil in Eye Variant POP

And I got the 'Pencil in the Eye' variant of Rachel Duncan! I believe I just need Helena (our favorite character) to complete the set!

I did spend about an hour going back through all of my POP likes/dislikes on my account before this shipment. I didn't receive anything that I disliked, which is good, but I also didn't receive many of the POPs I'd consider more popular - hopefully that changes as I'm completing certain collections.

Verdict: I'm always excited for POPs - so I love when my POP in a Box delivery makes it here. One thing I will say, their boxes tend to take a beating before they get to my door - there was a baseball sized hole in the corner of my box this month - luckily it wasn't big enough for anything to fall out of the package. With that said, beware if you're a collector looking for mint boxes, I often get damaged boxes from the shipment - but I display POPs out of the box, so it doesn't bother me. If you're looking to build out your collection and can afford the higher POP count - you'll get a good discount while filling out your collection.

There are two versions of Helena. The pencil in eye Rachel was a HT exclusive originally and there is an HT exclusive I think of Helena wearing a parka instead of the blood dress as well. The shows ends after the next season. Season 4 just ended. It was pretty great.

Well, I think they were HT exclusives as HT had them online…but I see them on Amazon as well too now.

Just keep in mind that if you use a credit card that charges a foreign transaction fee, even though they charge your card in USD from a US based office, the company is still headquartered in the UK and you may get dinged since there’s a loophole in the credit card law that allows banks to levy a fee if the transaction at any point touches a foreign entity (even if indirectly). Pop in a Box doesn’t seem to have a way to fix this (nor, as per my experience, did they care), you just have to make sure you use a payment method that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee.

I’m going to need you to drop everything and finish Orphan Black right now! 😀 You are missing out on so much awesomeness!
