The box included an information card with a list of items and a monthly message.

petpackcat-july-2016-toys

KONG Refillables Turtle – Value $3.05

My cats are really not all that into refillable toys. I think the material is too thick to get a good catnip scent through. Although there was a little more interest in this one than there usually is.

Bavarian Cat Toy Welli Fish – Value $6.99

We’ve gotten toys from this company before. They have valerian and spelt (a relative of wheat) in them. They smell like dirty gym socks or toe cheese or something. But, the smell is apparently quite interesting to cats.

petpackcat-july-2016-treats

Omega Paw Meowgaritas (3 oz) – Value $3.49

We got the mojito version of this in another box and the cats liked them. Not sure the cats care about the hint of lime, I am sure they are more interested in the tuna. These are made in the USA.

Zuke’s Natural Purrz Savory Salmon Recipe (3 oz) – Value $2.09

These are a subscription box mainstay and they are usually quite popular with the cats. (See below.) They are free of corn, wheat, and soy, and are made in the USA with ocean-caught salmon!

Petkin Pawwipes To Go Pak (orange scent, 20 count) – Value $4.99

You will get a lot of Petkin wipes in PetPack. They show up in both the dog and cat versions. You will never have to actually buy wipes again. This is not really a product I would use on my cats (they don’t go outside and they probably wouldn’t tolerate it anyway) although I may try using them to wipe all of Nyx’s saliva off the inside of my car…

Gratuitous cat photos ahead…

Even though Madison doesn’t look happy here, I always like it when I can get a photo of him without laser eyes.

Sniffing the stinky fish.

Madison and Sneaky clean up after I scatter some treats on the floor.

Sneaky would sniff this until the camera went off. When she was always conveniently looking away…

Eating the treats. While Monkey tried to walk in front of the camera. You have no idea how often he does that…

petpackcat-july-2016-monkey

Yet another one sniffing the treat bag. Usually Monkey isn’t even interested in treats.

petpackcat-july-2016-monkey3

I opened the baggie this was in and Monkey RUSHED up the side of the chair to sniff it.

Mr. Kitty was not a very happy boy this day. But he will reliably sit still.

petpackcat-july-2016-sparkles

He just looks angry here. Sometimes that happens with him. I just let it go.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $20.61 for the July 2016 PetPack for cats. That’s pretty close to last month and is still significantly below the cost of the subscription plus shipping. I had thought the value might improve with the addition of a fifth item, but it really hasn’t. The toys were decent and my cats did like the treats, but I’m not that enthusiastic about the wipes (I have a lot of Petkin wipes from previous months of this and the dog version sitting around, unused) and I still think the value is too low to recommend this subscription at this time.

Valeric acid, in valerian, is one of the components in catnip and can make cats ever higher than nip makes them. It’s a stinky herb and tastes just as bad which is why it’s usually blended with mints in herbal tea. It is a nervine, a nerve-relaxant/tonic, so it can be very relaxing to humans and is often recommended for sleep.

I’m just going to admit it – I’m Mr. Kitty’s biggest fangirl! I love him! I would love to enter a contest for a signed pic of him and his siblings.

My little boy does get stuff on his paws when he goes out in the woods. Not sure he would want his paws wiped, though. He does like his ears cleaned. That value is really low.

I hope the mojito treats didn’t have any actual lime, because the ASPCA lists lime (and other citrus foods) as toxic to cats!

I forgot to mention– your cat photos are AWESOME! Absolutely love them. I have a Burmese cat (all dark brown) and he also is really difficult to photo. It’s a rare photo in which I can see the brown of his coat and not have his eyes glowing from the flash.
