My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows – Retail Value $17.99 (On Amazon for $10.58)

Book Summary from Amazon:

The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. InMy Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.

At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane gets to be Queen of England.

Like that could go wrong.

This book came with a letter from all three authors:

And a promotional crown, too:

Disney Mystery Minis Vinyl Figure – Value $8

Funko Mystery Minis are the cutest! And here is a look at all of the figures in this collection:

I got Princess Tiana!

Red Queen Print by Evie Bookish – Value $5?

I’ve read Red Queen and I enjoyed the quick pace of the book. I think I’ll hold off on reading Glass Sword until King’s Cage comes out, though. (I’ve found that I prefer reading trilogies when all books are released!)

Cinder Inspired Bracelet by Rich Love Shoppe – Value $18?

I love that the design of these pieces by Rich Love Shoppe almost makes it look like they are glowing from within:

And I LOVE the Cinder series! (I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it yet!)

Here is the bracelet on:

Crafted Van Magnetic Bookmarks – Value $7

These are an exclusive design for OwlCrate subscribers!

I think Crafted Van makes the cutest stuff, and I love that their bookmarks are illustrated on front and back:

Verdict: This box has a value of about $49 (using the Amazon sale prices and my estimates of some of these exclusive items). I think that’s a great value for a book box, especially with the curation and bonus book extras that OwlCrate includes each month.

This is one of my favorite OwlCrate boxes to date. I love the theme, the book (it’s a fun and clever read – I recommend it), and the bookish goodies were fab this month, too.

What do you think of the June OwlCrate box?

Uppercase June 2016 SPOILER ALERT:

FYI – this exact book is also the Uppercase Box book of the month. This is the first time they’ve ever had the same book – hopefully, the last, too!

  1. I’m so upset they sent the same book as Uppercase! I think it happens again this month if you get the ‘evil’ box.

  2. I was able to swap for My Lady Jane and just started reading it last night. I am only two chapters in but I am liking it so far. Fingers crossed its awesome!

  3. I didn’t receive the bracelet, didn’t realize until reading your review!! So far I love this book.

  4. I’m so torn between this box and Lit. Any opinions? 🙂

    • Do you have any preferences about the book genre? OwlCrate does only YA, and LitCube does more of a variety of genres. They both release theme spoilers in advance, too, so hopefully that can help you with your decision. (Either one is great though – I think you’ll be happy either way!) 🙂

    • I can only afford one at a time, so I base it on theme. Last month, I got OwlCrate whereas for the few months before that, I got LitCube. I love them both 🙂 I must say however, that February’s LitCube was the best box I had ever gotten from any box, ever!

But May’s OwlCrate was almost as fabulous as well. It really depends.

  5. Yeah sorry Liz, it’s a 4 book series for Red Queen plus at least one novella called Cruel Queen. I would also highly suggest Falling Kingdoms and Throne of Glass. Both have books five coming out this fall/winter and books 6 will finish both series next year.

    • 4 BOOKS! Argh! I love Throne of Glass, and I’ll check out Falling Kingdoms now – thank you for the suggestion!!

      • You NEED to read A Court of Thorns & Roses by SJ Maas. LOVE that series!

  6. Even with the dupe book with Uppercase, this was also one of my favorite boxes to date. Also there are going to be at least 4 books in the Red Queen series now.

  7. So cute!! The book looks interesting and the other items look great. I wish I had known about this a month earlier, but I did sign up for the next box and I am super excited.
