I know 200$ seems steep for a box but Clare v fold overs are gorgeous they retail starting at 235$ plus tax In store.
Liz have you heard anything back from the people of the vogue box? Just wondering if there will really be any bonuses.

I don’t think people are questioning the price as much as they are questioning the vagueness of what you’re getting. Lots of people on here are already schilling out a lot of money on all sorts of things and are willing to pay for value but after Oprah scammed people for $200 they are a bit gun shy to be scammed twice. Even if the initial cost is covered by the bag people are having tons of problems with subscription boxes not sending things or having ridiculous cancellation policies that are impossible to get out of. Just my take

If someone walked up to me and handed me $200 and said “waste this money”, I STILL wouldn’t buy this! :/

Holy cow, just went and read the entirety of the Oprah subscription scam and all I have to say is…..WOW! Sorry Vogue, being vague with a bunch of people still applying their Vaseline from the Oprah burn may not be the wisest business venture right now…….unless you’re planning on sending Preparation H as a “surprise!”

Ok, someone please fill me in on the Oprah incident.

Luna

It looks like if you type “Oprah” in the Search field there are some MSA reviews on the Oprah Circle of Friends subscription box that was around last year. I don’t know the story, but am curious too, so I’m going to read the reviews now. 🙂

This sounds like the Oprah box that was a complete disaster! A clutch and non descriptive “exclusives” lead me to a big ‘ol.. NO WAY!!
Do they not realize that there’s PS that frequently includes clutches AND several items for $40?

Krista

Exactly what I thought of too.

Reply ButtonReply

Constance

Is this for reals? $200?! No thanks.

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

A magazine subscription? Like we don’t have the Internet? Hahaha! This isn’t going to take off

Reply ButtonReply

Serena

I seriously see no appeal here. A clutch and some magazines, really? Whoever put this together is very out of touch.

I got the email about this and still can’t figure out how they think they are going to get people to spend $200. They keep trying to get me to renew my mag subscription for Vogue and W for $10 each per year. What do they plan on sending to equal $190?

NOPE.

Heather

Someone at Vogue actually thought this was a good deal! WOW. I might have made some silly sub box purchases in the past, but this one is not even interesting in the slightest for $200.

Reply ButtonReply

Barbie

I don’t think this one’s for me, even if I did have the funds to sub.

The clutch is gorgeous, but IMHO it’s not worth $200 to me to have it. A magazine subscription is almost worthless as you can get tons of free magazine subs from all over (including Vogue). I’ve never seen their special editions, so I can’t comment on those, but the q & a’s – Who’s to say that they will ever get to one of your questions. The exclusive gifts & offers, I’m sorry, they almost HAVE to be more forthcoming as to what kind of perks & gifts they’re offering.

At this price point, they are going to have to be off the charts FABULOUS, and they are going to have to promote the crap of it to make enough people want this enough to pay that much up front.

I do love Clare V, so it’s rather unfortunate that Vogue chose to spotlight this clutch with this crazy “deal.”

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

Hahahahahahahaha………No.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

That was my exact reaction!

Kat

Hard pass on this one. Curious to see your take on it, Liz.

Right now I think it only makes sense if that clutch alone is worth the cost of the subscription to you. We really need specific details on what these other bonus gifts will be! I’ll try to find out more. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

The “special gifts and offers” thing makes me think of the Oprah mag subscription, and I’m pretty sure that was a special bust.

Valerie

ahhhh, no

Reply ButtonReply

Angela L.

Their wording = Exclusive gifts, offers and experiences…. My husband’s wording = If I was to spend that kind of money for a VIP sub, the only thing I will be looking forward to is an “exclusive experience” of lodging in the doghouse!!!! Um no, just sadly not the sub for me….

Reply ButtonReply

Kat

me too Angela L.

Jamie M

I’d put myself in the doghouse for making a purchase like that one lol.

I have a closet full of clutches just like that one, most of them were freebies. A bunch of magazine subscriptions… yawn. I don’t know many people who even read paper magazines anymore, people mostly go to blogs for free. And a Q&A with the editors. Wow, they really think highly of themselves, don’t they, to think people are so plebian to get psyched to talk to them on facebook lol. Reddit AMAs achieve the same purpose for free. Get with the times, Vogue. Sorry for being so negative, that $200 price tag made me put my sassy pants on.

Reply ButtonReply

Jett

You aren’t being negative, you’re being honest. As an author/ writer/ ghost writer (former blogger) the state of publishing is in the toilet. it’s cheaper to use staff writers who don’t know how to research, rehash the same stuff over and over and aren’t interested in a new “voice”. The clutch, feh. I can buy high end designer, Italian made hand last shoes for less on sale and they’ll last me decades. A clutch isn’t exactly practical, and even the most expensive one I own by a high end designer is big enough to hold double and a heck of a lot more stylish, while paying (one of the few times I paid full price) maybe $150 more,l

I give up. Can you please delete my responses? This thing is making stuff up and I don’t see it until after posting! I actually proofread three times before hitting submit, ARRRRRGGGGHHH! (Now I’m a pirate?) ⚡️Jet

Mary K

Phew…. I was afraid I’d need to have it, but nope.

TiffanyLC

even the model looks stupefied about it!

Anna

Wow, I was excited… New sub box, then I saw what it was… And I’m not excited anymore.

I may be crazy for sub boxes, but NOT THAT CRAZY! ??

Reply ButtonReply

Valerie

This is reminiscent of the Oprah subscription which turned out so horribly.

Reply ButtonReply

Mamo

I concur!

Reply ButtonReply

Lin

And another ditto!

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

That’s what I was thinking too! lol. $200 for a clutch and a magazine??

Reply ButtonReply

Laurie

And experiences! Don’t forget the, um, experiences!

TheTinTiara

That is exactly what I thought when I saw this too!!

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

Exactly!!! Lots of ambiguous promises at a really high price point. Liz is so generous and diplomatic and I remember the Oprah sub as the first that she really had to struggle to pay any compliment to.

Reply ButtonReply

Kara

That is precisely what I was thinking!!!!

Lauren

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw this!

They must be crazy
$200? I’d want that clutch plus at least 6 full size semi-high value items for that price ??

Reply ButtonReply

Imcoffeegirl

I’m waiting for Lix to postman update that says she meant write $20, not $200…

Reply ButtonReply

Imcoffeegirl

Damn you, auto-correct! *waiting for Liz to post an update* is what I meant to say!

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

I do love a Clare V clutch and this one is gorgeous. But, everything else is just too vague. I *might* have done it for $100, just for the bag, but this is too rich for my blood.

Reply ButtonReply

Jillian

A sub to Vogue and a fold over bag? For $200? What?
