This month featured Jayne Cobb! The first box featured Kaylee – so it seems as though each delivery will have a “hero” character to it – that seems like a perfect idea for show that was only one season and a movie (and comics)!
The Signal is Cargo Crate’s informational mini magazine. In here you’ll find details about each of the month’s items, interviews, and looter pics.
Dead Fish T-Shirt – Value $15?
This shirt was actually one of the spoiler items this month. It was worn by Jayne in an episode of the show. I’m loving this shirt. I like the graphic and the color – this wasn’t worn much on the show (to my knowledge), but none the less, it’s a great pick for this month’s shirt.
Each month comes with a themed pin as well. This month’s theme was “Let’s Be Bad Guys” – which goes nicely with Jayne! I’m not big on pins, but this one is great, and features Jayne favorite gun, Vera!
Qm Mini Masters Figure – Value $20-25?
This line of figures is made exclusively for Loot Crate (they could possibly be on sale to the general public at a later date, though). I love the detail in the Jayne figure (and in the previous Kaylee figure!) – these are really the hero item in each box, you’ll be getting this until they feature each character from the show.
Here’s the collection to date – It’s going to be awesome once it’s all built out!
QBit Figure – Value $10-15?
Next up is a QBits blind box figure! These are little, Funko POP-esqe, PVC figures.
You could have received either Kaylee or Shepherd this month – I got Shepherd!
Jayne Cobb Flask – Value $10?
I don’t have much use for a flask these days – but this is still one of the coolest flasks I’ve seen! I feel like this could be a party hit with any Firefly fan!
Jayne Cobb Coin – Value $10?
This is a fun item this month. I was curious how they’d integrate “The Hero of Canton” and his subsequent statue into this month’s box. On the back of the coin, we get a shot of his famous statue and see that the coin is worth a pint of Mudders’ Milk (of which there is a recipe in the mini magazine).
The front highlights Jayne in his hero status on Higgins’ Moon. This was easily one of my favorite episodes from the run.
Jaynestown Sticker – Value $3?
They also include a Jaynestown sticker to commemorate the statue.
Jayne Cobb Wanted Poster – Value $5-10?
The last item is a print. They made it a little more fun by making it look like a confidential folder that you unfold to find Jayne Cobb’s wanted poster. I think everyone knows my stance on prints these days.
Verdict: I’ve had a blast unboxing both Cargo Crates so far! It’s a bigger investment than the Core Crate, but I’m wondering if the price will come down with quantity over time? The value is definitely there, but the price point is probably a bit of a deterrent. The two vinyl figures are worth it alone if you’re a collector like me.

I have to say that I am floored by the QM mini masters figures. I love my Pops but these figures are just so well done. This has definitely become my favorite box to open.
I personally don’t see the value in this subscription. I love Firefly but I guess my tastes are just a bit different to what’s being offered. That said, when it’s the Captain’s box I might subscribe. It could just be that he’s one of my favourite characters and Jayne is not, therefore I’m biased towards the value.
I’m bummed that they’re still not offering the shirts in women’s sizes for this box.
They’re unisex sizes.
Yes, exactly. They are not in women’s sizes.
They’re made to fit both men and women. My wife gets this box and the shirts fit her perfectly.
Thanks for mansplaining that to me. Now that I *know* a unisex shirt fits your wife, I’m sure they’ll fit me now, too.
My apologies. I thought I was confused by your comment.
Hahaha love the mansplaining!!!!
By the way I agree with Marion! I hate man shirts also known as unisex. I like women sizes because they fit better and look better. Not just a boxy man shirt. That’s my womansplaining. Thanks Marion! You made my day!
Did you mean they’re not offering a women’s style/fitted t-shirt? By saying “sizes” it seemed you were bummed you couldn’t find one that would fit you (not that you couldn’t get one with a fit you liked). Ryan just seemed to be letting you know a woman he knows could wear the unisex sizes offered. That seems like a helpful comment, not mansplaining. I think you were a little harsh in your reply to him based on what your post said (vs what you may have meant).
I’m bummed that they’re still not offering the shirts in men’s sizes for this box.
LOL! Love that comment! I get this box, am female (so am “fem-splaining?”), and quite enjoy my size small unisex shirt. The fabric is very soft so it stretches and contours nicely over my female form. It looks great and is much softer and cozier than many women’s shirts I have! Besides, it’s JAYNE’S shirt, it’s not going to be a sexy v-neck! And it’s PERFECT with my “cunning” hat! 😛
