Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes - Retail Value $17.99 (On Amazon for $10.22)

Book Summary from Amazon:

From the author of The Art of Lainey and Liars, Inc. comes a fresh, contemporary story about one girl's tragic past and a boy who helps her try to change her luck.  Perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen or Jenny Han.

Maguire knows she's bad luck. No matter how many charms she buys off the internet or good luck rituals she performs each morning, horrible things happen when Maguire is around. Like that time her brother, father, and uncle were all killed in a car crash--and Maguire walked away with barely a scratch. But then on her way out of her therapist's office, she meets Jordy, an aspiring tennis star, who wants to help Maguire break her unlucky streak. Maguire knows that the best thing she can do for Jordy is to stay away, but staying away may be harder than she thought.

I always read Lisa's reviews of the books she sends. (She doesn't really spoil books, but just lets you know what she liked about the story, and what types of readers will enjoy the book, etc.) Her review of Girl Against the Universe definitely got me excited to read it! I'm a few chapters in and will continue reading tonight!

And the book is signed! And a branded bookmark, too:

And we have a Lydia Bennet bookmark for the NovelTeas Pride & Peppermint tea - coming soon!

NovelTeas Don QuixoTea - 2 oz Value $9

This tea is described as "an adventurous brew of traditional chai spices – red cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, and the root of ginger." I love chai, so this is perfect for me. Also, NovelTeas is pretty much the perfect gift for any book and tea lover you may know. Their tea "tins" are made to look like books:

Eric Nyffeler Post Card Set - Value $10?

(This set was designed exclusively for Uppercase Box, so I'm estimating on value.) I think the design is beautiful, and even the flipside "Post Card" text is cute:

Verdict: This box has a value of about $30. I'm estimating on the postcards, and the book is signed, so that may make the value higher to many people. I'm almost always happy with this subscription. I think the curation is great, and it seems like my taste in YA books is similar to Lisa's so that works out very well!

What do you think of this month's Uppercase box? Have you read the book yet?

I have to say I signed up and received the April and May boxes and have been disappointed because they have not been as good as the past boxes I saw they offered. Those past boxes made me think this would be great for me. I’m not sure I will do June. I don’t want to waste my money. I wish there were a hint on the book. I like that there isn’t a theme but a hint would be helpful.

I get the personalized option of this sub. The Don QuioxTea is AMAZING. It’s one of the best chai’s I’ve ever had. I’m definitely buying more.

My book this month was Star Touched Queen.

I cancelled this month. Seems like lately the box hasn’t been up to par for me and the books dont seem to grab my interest as much either. Plus, the items seem like filler as of late.

I was disappointed too. i got just one month and seeing this next month I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. With shipping, $23 is too steep for what is just a hardcover book and a few little things. You can get signed copies of specific YA books from the big authors from B&N for retail price. I wish they would not charge so much shipping or somehwo make it a bit more reasonable or feel like you were making a worthy investment because I LOVE the idea, just won’t pay that much for anything but a book I know I REALLY want. I’d pay $12-15 for the gamble, which is why I switched to the BookDrop YA subscription (it often has signed books but not always) but not $23.

I don’t know why, but I just wasn’t impressed this month. Maybe it’s because the postcards don’t carry any value to me and just seem like “filler”. Thinking about letting this sub go.
