They write your cats’ names on the lid.  I love this little touch!

The information card this month had information about spaying and neutering cats (it’s “kitten season” now) and a URL to find out more information about some of the products from the box.   There was also a discount code for cat furniture from The Refined Feline!

Amazing Pet Products Leopard Ball with Removable Feather – Value $2.50 (?)

I can’t find this online (it’s unfortunately one of those things that is difficult to search) so the value is a guess.  Feathers are popular with my crew and these seemed to be attached pretty well.

Mauve Moose Catnip Strawberry – Value $4

Monkey enjoyed this so much I would seriously consider buying the basket of 10.  He wouldn’t stop licking it!

meowbox-may-2016-treats

Eco Plant Pals Chris Catnip – Value $2.99

This will take awhile to get started.  I will have to put it somewhere Monkey can’t get to it.  Let’s just say there have been incidents when I had catnip plants in the past…

Feline Greenies in Savory Salmon (2.5 oz) – Value $1.95

We’re just finishing up a bag of Feline Greenies in another flavor.  I am sure these will be popular as well.  I don’t know that I think they really clean cats’ teeth, but the cats seem to like them so it’s all good.

Foxy Tricks for Cats Wand Toy – Value $10.36

These are handmade in Poland.  My kitties like a good dangly toy on a stick and they had fun with this.

Madison investigates the feather toy.

Madison actually was interested in the wand toy, but it was difficult to capture that in a photo.

Monkey liked the wand toy.

And he eventually caught it.  He seemed to like the string more than the dangly part.

He also claimed the strawberry…

…which he licked until it was wet, wet, wet.

meowbox-may-2016-sneaky2

It is really hard to capture the second a cat catches a toy like this in a photo.

meowbox-may-2016-sneaky3

I did get this one of Sneaky from behind.

And then there was this.  Which was a total gimme.  I knew she would bite the wand.

meowbox-may-2016-sparkles3

Even Mr. Kitty was interested in this toy.

meowbox-may-2016-sparkles2

Although he also kind of just wanted to sit there and stare at me.

But, I got two pictures of him with his eyes open so I call that a win!

Verdict: I calculated a value of $21.80 for the May Meowbox.  That is pretty low considering the cost of the subscription.  This box really needed a few more items to bring the value up.  I’d encourage the people behind Meowbox to explore Etsy offerings a bit more fully because I’m sure there are artisans who would be excited to get their products in front of a wider audience, and my cats liked the two Etsy toys best out of everything in this box.

My Dezra Just Loved our Box. Ours was exact same but we got a watermelon instead of the berry. I was doing the YouTube unboxing and she was taking off with the toys out of the box before I could get to them. It was fun and really cute. I cant wait to get it uploaded

My kids liked this box a lot more than I expected, especially the Foxy Tricks wand which I honestly didn’t think much of on first glance other than to be mildly impressed that it’s handmade. I concur that Meowbox needs to add a toy or two (or a toy and some more treats) to up the value. Their value is consistently on the low end even if the products included are pretty popular around here.

I have yet to find a cat box with a really good value, other than Purr Packs multi-cat, which is usually about $10 over the cost of the box.
