Jib Gem is a monthly jewelry subscription that sends necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for you to add to your collection. Their motto is, "Life's too short to wear boring jewelry!" I agree!

Jib Gem sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This thank-you note and business card were the only pieces of literature in the box. This means that I don't have any clues about the pieces they sent to try and look up the values.

The first piece they sent was this necklace. I like the length, but I'm not a big fan of black pendants. I also don't really like faux antiqued brass that's done like this, it just kind of looks like it's already worn out. Unfortunately this piece is a miss for me.

Jib Gem also sent these two bracelets. I actually like the style and even the little stones they put at the termini of the one that's lower down my wrist. I'm just not wild about the finish, so I'm kind of lukewarm on these bracelets.

Verdict: This box was kind of a miss for me. I think if you are a big fan of the distressed metal look, you might have really enjoyed this box, but it's not my style. It's also hard for me to comment on value since no information about the pieces was provided. I obviously wouldn't spend $28 on these three pieces, but I know some people would. It will be interesting to see what they send in their future packages.

i always contemplate JibGem BECAUSE they are an incredible deal and pretty unique amongst jewelry sub boxes. altho i’m not a big antique brass person, either, it IS a cohesive set and pretty low-key, so very wearable. i’m still intrigued. the price can’t be beat for non-handmade jewelry. i think people have become…a little out of touch with reality & fair pricing in that department. or possibly i should say along with everything else, cheap goods have ruined the market in general. i (and several people i know) make one of a kind, handmade jewelry with quality materials, and people don’t want to pay fairly for it because of the TONS of inexpensive jewelry flooding the market. i’d say for under $30 for a necklace & 2 bracelets….certainly a deal if you are open minded and looking for unique things to add to your jewelry box that you wouldn’t normally buy. which is the point of a surprise sub box to me anyway.

Anna, your review was honest and helpful which is much appreciated but your pictures really are worth 1,000 words–if you were given some info about the reason for choosing the pieces and where they came from, etc. it may have made some impact but looking at those photos and poor workmanship I feel this Sub lacks style, value, and curation.

I tried this a while back and I felt it miss the mark. The statement necklaces were nice BUT up close, I felt a lot of the stones were hastily glued on. Some were glued crooked. What did you think about the quality Anna? I’m curious to see if there has been an improvement in that area.

Anna

Geordana, I did not feel like they were very high quality pieces.
