The National Parks Service turns 100 years old this year, and to celebrate, Isle Box has teamed up with National Geographic to create a limited edition box containing all your essentials for an adventure in the National Parks! We are headed to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in a few weeks, and I was thrilled to hear about this box!

Isle Box kindly sent us this box to review. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

isle-national-parks-atlas

National Geographic Road Atlas - Value $19.95

What a great looking Atlas, and I love that it has a protective cover. This atlas has everything you would expect, and it covers all of North America, not just the US. Additionally, it includes America's top 100 adventure destinations as chosen by the editors of Adventure magazine, plus 24 of the most popular National Parks. I have always been obsessed with maps, and this one is fabulous!

National Geographic National Parks Guide - Value $28

Have you ever gone to the National Parks website? I have a really hard time finding much useful information there. This book is what I have been looking for. It has everything I need to know including maps inside the parks, activities, camping and lodging information, and contact information. Additionally, because it's National Geographic, it has hundreds of beautiful photographs!

isle-national-parks-headlamp

isle-national-parks-headlamp-2

Princeton Tec Headlamp - Value $29.95

I think every family has at least one thing they are cursed to never have in proper working order when they need it, and our thing is flashlights and headlamps. We can never have too many because we constantly lose and break ours. This is a really nice one! It has five modes, a hybrid beam, a high degree of water resistance, and provides visibility for up to 58 meters. It won the Backpacker magazine's 2015 Editors' Choice Award! I think I'll be keeping this one in my pack.

Hydrapak Water Reservoir - Value $32.99

After all the hiking I've done in my life, I've never had one of these, and I'm so excited to finally have one! I could cry! It holds two liters and changes shape as needed inside your pack. It's free of BPA and PVC and is top-rack dishwasher safe. It also has a No-Leak Lifetime Guarantee! What more could you ask for? I simply cannot wait to get out on the trail with this!

Mountainsmith Day Pack - Value $69.95

This is seriously the nicest backpack I've ever owned, and that includes one I had several years ago by Prada. It's padded everywhere it needs to be, it has a waist belt for added support, it's lightweight, and it can hold up to 25 pounds. It also has a lifetime guarantee! It's awesome!

Verdict: This has been my favorite outdoor box ever. I love getting out into nature, and I've been obsessed with the National Parks ever since I saw the documentary about them by Ken Burns. This is giving me serious wanderlust! I was planning on taking the boys on the big National Parks circuit out west when they were a little older, but now I am dying to try and fit it into our plans in the next year or so. Everything that Isle Box included is so nice and will be so useful! The value of everything combined totals about $180, which is even more than Isle Box's promised value of $160, so I'm very happy about that. I just can't wait to get outside!

What do you think of the Isle Box Limited Edition National Parks Box? Headed to any National Parks this year?

Starting at $44.99

I ordered this box as soon as I saw this review. I just got home from vacation and it was waiting for me! Super excited! We’re also going to the Smoky Mountains later this summer and I can’t wait to use it all!

THIS is how you do a specifically targeted subscription box. Everything is thoughtful, useful, and good quality with a value that exceeds the cost by an impressive margin. These people know and understand the purpose of the box with a spot-on curation.

Wow- great box and great review Anna!
I might have to get this for my best friend who loves Nat Geo and hiking and all that. I wish I was more into hiking and all that, but I’m just not.
Love that there’s no filler items and everything seems really high quality and super useful.

Love, love, love the Smokies! Charlies Bunion is my absolute favorite short day hike at 8 miles round trip. But did you know there is a LE t-shirt you have to EARN in the Smokies? If you are up for an 11+ mile round trip day hike, depending on which of the five routes you take, Leconte Lodge sells yearly commemorative t-shirts to those that make it to the Lodge, which is only accessible by foot.
