globein-may-2016-letter

This box comes with an info booklet – the first page is a letter explaining the theme. Inside each maker and their products are detailed. There’s also details about the fair trade practices, community support initiatives, etc. – it is a feel-good read!

Upcycled Tote, Ghana (Retail $15).

This tote is made from upcycled plastic bags. I love that it comes in a zippered pouch, and because it is plastic, I feel like this could be a great shopping or beach tote! Here it is unzipped:

Brass Bottle Stopper, South Africa (Retail $10)

Zambeezi Lip Balm, Zambia (Retail $3).

This month, subscribers could pick between this brass bottle stopper or the signature GlobeIn basket. I hope they continue having these options in the future - I think it's great for people who may have all the baskets they need!

And this wine stopper is SO cute:

This organic beeswax lip balm is great, too. It's very moisturizing, and I love the lemongrass scent.

Hand Blown Glass, Mexico (Retail $15)

The iridescence of glass is gorgeous. Since you can use this as a glass or a vase, I imageine some subscribers may be swapping to get a set! I'll be using this as a vase personally.

It could work as a desk accessory too:

(Note to self - buy flowers for vase pictures!)

globein-may-2016-coconut-oil

Conscious Coconut Oil, Thailand (Retail $15).

I love the design of this packaging with the blue colors and wooden cap! I do wish that the tube opening was larger though - it's a bit of a stuggle getting the coconut oil out of the tube!

But I guess I'm not the only one with that issue, since they included tips for dealing with your "sassy" coconut oil:

globein-may-2016-info

I love that this is 100% organic coconut oil. It's a great moisturizer, cuticle cream, hair oil, etc.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $58. I think that's good for a subscription box that focuses on fair trade and giving back. And as always, GlobeIn impresses me with their themes and curation each month! I'll use every single item this month, too!

Great collection of items. I always love items upcycled from plastic bags and emptied rice bags. Very durable and very cool.

I have loved my GlobeIn boxes but have a small complaint this month. There was a black and white “trashybags.com” sticker on the upcycled tote. At first I thought it was a sticker that could be peeled off, but it was stitched on. I wouldn’t have minded if it blended into the tote, but it was out of place. I think it would have been better as a removable tag. I was able to remove it, but the plastic was slightly damaged in the process. I am put off by it enough to consider contacting GlobeIn.

I’ve been a fan of MSA since 2013 so I’ve had the chance to view and purchase so many subscription boxes over that time period. After viewing countless boxes, at this point the only subs I feel loyalty towards are PSMH and GlobeIn (and MizzFit, but her boxes arent monthly ?). Due to financial constraints over cut back on my sub addiction and i had thought to discontinue GlobeIn. lived in South East Asia for a few years as a child and I remember that nothing went to waste. Everything was repurposed into something else. We definitely don’t do that in the US (or if we do we then call it art) so it has been exciting to see what things can become. I love the thought of helping these industries to grow and thrive. As for the products themselves, I can say that I always have gifts at hand these days (although i prefer to keep the items for myself!). Although I must cut back, I’m keeping GlobeIn.

I was just expressing this same sentiment. I need to cut down on my subs after my commitments are up. I think I’m going to keep Globein, allure, and goldbely. I just got play by Sephora so we’ll see how that goes.

This is my first month of Globe-in (I signed up for the towels!). Do they have a way to check the status of your box or do you only know when they send a shipping notice?

Liz, just FYI, subscribers were offered a chance to buy additional glasses at a lower rate ($12). That offer ended about a week ago, but I thought that was pretty smart of them to anticipate people wanting more and also offer a discount as incentive.

I waited until I could see the glass in person before I ordered more of them. I know you could order extras. I hope the glasses will be available for purchase from the store once I see what it looks like in my box. I love that the box also gives back too 🙂

I haven’t even gotten shipping notification yet.

I haven’t either! Between this and PopSugar, I guess I’m destined to be on the tail end of everyone’s shipping schedule.

Hobby Lobby has some very realistic fake roses (and other flowers) made out of smooth plastic that photographs really well. They feel a little more rubbery than the regular fake flowers, but look more realistic.

Alternatively, and more appropriately, you could subscribe to a fresh flower subscription!

Still waiting on my first box and haven’t received any shipping info yet either. Since they offer you any choice of box available I opted for the bath box instead. I also ordered their laundry bag which I have already received and I love it. Anyone else still waiting and do they send out any shipping info?

The boxes “usually” ship out around the 14th I think, but i know they ran into some delays with the Spring Clean box, so I don’t know if they’re back on schedule for this box

(note to Liz, you mention that the theme is Spring Clean in the first paragraph, but i’m pretty sure this one is Hydrate)

And i swapped a few baskets away so now I’m looking to rebuild my stash! I really really really really want an elephant bottle stopper, so I’ll be looking for them on swaps. If I could have specified that instead, i would have gotten it, but I’ll be happy with a blue basket!

Oops! Thank you for letting me know. Fixed it!

I really like GlobeIn. They do a great job of sticking to the theme, in really non-obvious ways.

I like many individual items in this box, this month included.

But that $15 tube of coconut oil is worth about $2. I can get a huge jar of food grade, organic coconut oil at the grocery for $5. Packaging is not worth $13.

That glass is gorgeous though.

I think it’s convenience you’re paying for in this case. It says “travel ready” on the bottle meaning you’re toting that around instead of a jar and although I’m sure one could easily transfer their coconut oil from a jar to a plastic travel bottle some people might be more inclined to just purchase this.

I can’t wait to get my boxes this month! I just love this sub and loving the option to choose basket or to sub a different item! I absolutely love the upcycled container from last month.

The glass / vase is gorgeous, I’ll probably use mine as a vase. And I can’t wait to see what animal bottle stopper I get!
