This box is seriously so small!

BB5-description card front

BB5-description card back

Each Beauty Box 5 comes with a description card. This month's theme is "Take A Hydration Vacation" and man do I need one!  I really like the layout of their description cards. They have everything you need to know: name of product, short description, price & they even state if it's full-size or not!

BB5-products1

Global Beauty Care Green Tea Makeup Remover Wipes - FULL SIZE! $1.99

I’ve tried these makeup remover wipes before thanks to subscription boxes so I’m happy to have another pack! You can never have to many makeup remover wipes, plus these are the perfect size for travel!

Soapbox Sea Minerals Body Wash – Deluxe Sample 2 oz.: $2.99

I haven’t quit using this body wash since I got it. It has the most clean & comforting scent. This is my new fav body wash and I plan on purchasing more! Bonus: for every product sold, a bar of soap is given to a person in need.

BB5-products2

Chella Passionate Pink Moisturizing Lip Pencil- FULL SIZE! $18.00

This color is gorgeous! It has a nice texture and pigment. It's the perfect color for summer and lasts for a long time which I love. I personally think the price is a little high given the size of the product, but I’m happy to have it. Keeper!

Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigments in Fig Jam- FULL SIZE! $19.95

I’m not a huge fan of lip pots because I don’t like having color on my fingers and it doesn't seem very hygienic. The website also says you can use this as a cheek stain. The shade is beautiful, but too loud for me (for both lips & cheeks). I really like the texture and quality of product just not a huge fan of the color so I will be gifting this.

BB5-swatches

Chella Passionate Pink Moisturizing Lip Pencil (top swatch) and Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigments in Fig Jam (bottom swatch).

BB5- eye gels

Maskeraide All Eyes On Me Hydrating Eye Gels- $5.00

I was so excited to see this in the box because I LOVE eye gels! They weren't super ground breaking for me but they performed nicely and I enjoyed them! I love the cool feeling eye gels leave so I'm always happy to receive them.

Verdict: This is my first month to try out Beauty Box 5 and I thought it was a good box. There was a nice variety of products and I liked everything but the neon lip pot. I discovered a new favorite body wash and lip pencil so I would say this box was a win for me! I calculated the value of this box to be at $47.93 which is significantly higher than the $12 purchase price! My only suggestion would be that they put the correct prices on the description card for the deluxe samples. Example: on the card it say's the Soapbox is $5.99 which is true if you purchase the 20 oz bottle- not the 2 oz deluxe sample bottle. If you love makeup this is a good box to add to your sub list!

Hmmm, this is only $12…I might subscribe to this one. Seems like a good deal to me. I’ll also be checking out that body wash and makeup remover. I do agree about the color of that lip pot, way too bright.

I’ve been getting this box for four months ,this months box was awesome .And yes I did receive the spatula thingy the first month and one of these days I’m going to use it lol

I’m confused. Don’t all the beauty subs list the retail price of full-size items on their product cards? It low-key bugs me because I’d like to know the price of the sample first, then the price of the full-size for reference. Sure, I can do the math myself but I’d prefer if they did. 🙂

The problem I’ve found is that by doing it the way you and others suggest you get a price per ounce of the product, which is fine for most things, but items that already sell a sample size either in stores or online do not charge per ounce. It’s always more expensive that if you just divided so it’s not a true representation of how much the product really is.

I had this back in 2014, mainly because I couldn’t get off the waitlist for Ipsy. It seemed like a lot of weird products and brands I’d never heard of. The most memorable and useless were a set of toe separators (for pedicures) and a tiny spatula thing for getting the last drop of shampoo out of a bottle. When the bothered sending a nice brand it was always a yucky color- Barbie pink lipstick of nail polish. Maybe they are finally getting their act together.

Ragan

They sent me toe separators three times in four months. That is why I quit…

I LOVE that little spatula! I also received this box about a year ago, and I always liked the mix of drug store brands and higher end makeup. I also liked that they included tools and a good variety of types of products. I didn’t renew only because I have skincare/makeup overload!

I still have and use the spatula! LOL. Oddly, I liked BB5 better than ipsy; it was always the latter that sent me the hot pink lip products. BB5 did have a weird predilection for blue and green nail lacquers, though.

This box was a great hit this month ,not the items shown above

This box made me re-sub for 3 months. Love the eye gel patches and the makeup wipes. Also love the lip colors. After signing up, they offered a 10 dollar box to be sent immediately which I ordered.

I had a 3 month sub from this box back in 2014 and was so glad once it ended but lately it looks like they have really been listening to feedback and improved alot. I think i might just subscribe again.

I have never seen any of the boxes I subscribe to (Birchbox, Allure, Boxycharm, Popsugar, etc) list the price of the sample size item. It is always the price for the full size item. Is there a box that figures out the sample size price? Often the sample size is not available for purchase.

I know there are a few out there that I receive that shows the sample/deluxe sample price on the card, but I think it’s more to show you the value of the box. A few that I can think of off the top of my head are Pearlesque, Beauty Heroes, and Vegan Cuts (I think).

Thanks. Good to know.

Actually the bodywash is $.60 does look like a nice variety.

I subscribed to this in the past and after two boxes immediately quit because I got lousy tiny samples (and two duplicates the second month). But I’ve been following this on another blog and it does seem like they have greatly improved their offering. Would consider subbing to this but I am trying to resist all new purchases (not going well) because I have so many products I literally have run out of room to store them. the mess on my dining room table is staggering……

Same here!

I’m so happy to see this box reviewed again. It seemed last year they were lackluster, but things are looking good now! I may have to pull the trigger and add this to my sub list!

Thank you!

I think this box will be replacing Allure for me! 😀

Interesting since I was thinking how Allure knocks it outta the park every month compared to this one with odd brands and colors?! But that’s the great thing with these boxes; everyone has their favorites and one size does not fit all….
