Has anybody been able to do their sample choice? I’m an Ace and just tried to log in and choose but there’s just the video up there. I can’t seem to do a Sample Choice at all. Did I miss it? I thought it was on the 23rd.

Amanda

29th I think…

Thanks!

Ugh. BB has been such a disappointment lately! 🙁

Kinda weird that one month’s curated box includes an item that was in boxes two months ago (the Parlor spray was in Feb’s boxes). I feel like the curated boxes should be new exciting things or some kind of theme.

Not disappointed in any of the products (choice or curated), but none of them are overly exciting for me.

Sarah Martinez

The Parlor spray is different than last month’s. Last month’s was a blowout spray, this one is a volume lift spray.

Reply ButtonReply

Julia

No, it’s a different spray – last month was the blowout spray.

Bumblebee

I agree. I’m so tired of lotion samples. I signed up for BB because I was told you would get awesome makeup samples and so far, in the six months I’ve subbed, there have been at least ten lotion samples. I’m not even counting the primers and bb creams. I’m probably going to spend my points and unsub.

Yikes. None of the above? This may make me cut the cord. I also love the boxes themselves though!

One request Liz: I can’t stomach watching the whole video. Any way you could post the 2 dates? The ACE date and the non-Ace date for choosing???

Reply ButtonReply

Xenia

I have a “new subscriber” question”:) When does the sample selection become available for non-ACE subscribers? When I log in I see just add-ons, not sample selection…

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

Day after ACEs can. Maybe around the 29th? I can’t remember the exact day. They do send out email notifications, but I have found that the emails they send out come way later in the day. I have better luck that morning just logging in every once in a while and checking, otherwise, if I wait on the email some of the stuff sells out.

I’m going to resubscribe for this box! However when I go to resub it still says “Sign up and get the March box” (which I don’t really want). Does anyone know when I can resub and get to still chose an April sample?

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

I contacted cs for the same reason
Resub now u get March
You have to wait until they released the April box which is around the 27th, but by then you won’t have any choices
I figure I’ll login that day and if I can get it I get it if not oh well

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda P

I’ve asked Birchbox CS about this in the past; the next month’s box usually becomes available a day or two after sample choice. There is usually a code that you can enter at checkout when subscribing that will guarantee the guest editor box as your first box, but that code can’t be combined with any other promotions. I don’t think there is a way to get sample choice without paying for the previous month’s box.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

I don’t think you get to choose the first box. If you want the April curated box, wait until like the first week in April or so. I started very end of January and got the January curated box still.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

I think I will pick the hair mask. I love them and that is a great brand. I haven’t really picked anything for a few months and those boxes turned out well for the most part, but this sample looks good.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

While I’m not big on any of the sample choices, I’m glad there’s variety in them. I feel like, for the past few months, they’ve all been in the same vein. For example, choose a lipstick vs. an eye shadow vs. a lip tint. Or choose a hair product vs. a different hair product vs. dry shampoo. At least this time we are offered three different products.

I have that exact hand cream in my desk right now. It smells lovely, but the greasiness is a little long-lasting (I expect a little greasiness with quality hand creams). I prefer Crabtree & Evelyn ultra moisturising hand therapy, and I wish Davines Anti-Aging Hand Creme would come back in stock! However, I’m not averse to getting an above-average cream, so getting a product I already have is cool with me.

I’m interested in the Dr. Jart, but I *love* Marcelle products! I use their eye makeup remover (I love the pre-soaked pads but also love the stuff in the bottle) and their daily facial cleanser. It’s all so gentle yet effective. I have been looking for a product like this 3-in-1, so I’m going to get the curated box for my Ace sub. The question is whether I want to skip sample choice on my other sub and hope for better stuff.

The Au Naturale Cosmetics Lively Trio Set looks adorable and practical. This is something I could pop in my bag for touch ups. I just hope it isn’t so tiny I will not be able to find it once it is in there.

Reply ButtonReply

K.

I agree!
It does look rather small in her hand… like the MILK Lipstick from last month’s curated box… its somewhere in my vanity… lol somewhere…

veramcbride

I really like the boxes. I love Tocca products, so that makes me want the curated, but the other products I don’t care for much. I really like the other box, but the sample picks aren’t great. Of all of them, maybe the makeup removing wipes bc although that is super boring, I know I’ll use them at the very worst while traveling.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Not impressed by this month’s sample choice, but it’s not as awful as last month’s, at least.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

I wanted to post this for anyone considering the RMS makeup wipes, the only ingredient is coconut oil, which is what I love and use everyday to remove my eye makeup, but these wipes seem like such a rip off for a little packet. You can get big tub of organic coconut oil for around $10.

Reply ButtonReply

joy

Also, if you haven’t used coconut oil on your face before, make sure to spot test. I used it once and my fave turned red and started burning. I’ve never had sensitive skin and was shocked that such a natural ingredient could create such a reaction but it seems that some people are sensitive to it.

Reply ButtonReply

KathyB

Ditto. I love coconut oil, and use it for a moisturizer on my feet all the time. Tried it on my face for a while, and I started breaking out like crazy…and I usually only get period breakouts. Stopped using it and it cleared up. Love the stuff…just not on my face.

Jen

Good point … It works fine on me but I have heard it can break out the skin too. It just seems crazy they are charging a lot for little packs of it when you can so easily purchase it at any store for a much better price.

Loba

Rifle Paper CO.

You made me resubscribe to Birchbox…
And now I am trying to figure out how to get both boxes because the curated box is always gone by the time I get the choice to pick. (I’m not a VIP). I can hope they put it up for sale but it annoys me that they do that when not all subscribers have had the option to choose it and I don’t know if I can support it.

I an seriously in this just for the boxes. I have been underwhelmed with Birchboxes samples which is why I cancelled previously… Both times…argh…

Reply ButtonReply

Sunshine

I want both too. Is there a way to get both boxes? I mean can we pay for both? This will be my first time requesting the curated box. Oh and the boxes, drool! I use them as gift boxes. These are so pretty!

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

April spoilers when I still haven’t gotten my March box. ?

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

The funny thing, too, is that people complain that Glossybox arrives way later than Birchbox, but I got my March Glossybox last Thursday. (They just show up. I almost never get shipping confirmations.)

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

My second sub (non-Ace) still hasn’t arrived but should be here tomorrow or Friday. My curated box (Ace account) arrived last Tuesday, but the Smashbox shadow was open and had shattered, leaving eye shadow all over the box. I asked for a replacement shadow (I can rinse off everything else), but they’re sending me a replacement box (which they said they’d try to make the same box). Even though it shipped a week ago, it still hasn’t arrived. I’m guessing it’ll arrive by Saturday.

I love Rifle Paper Co.! You are all lucky, too bad thay put Canadian operations on hold, I would’ve loved this box =(

*they (sigh tired from work so can’t spell)!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

The only item I want is the baked blush, but I’ve already received a Laura Geller baked blush & Im wondering if it’s the same shade.
I prefer the look of the non-curated box, so I think I’ll just let Birchbox curate a box for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Miccarty

Same here! I love that blush but I’d love a different shade. I would buy it but blush is one of those things I’ll never run out of 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

I was wondering about the blush as well. I think I have the grapefruit blush…hoping this is the “Roseberry!”

Reply ButtonReply

joy

I’m getting the currated just for the blush. I got it in a box last year and LOVE it! I’d buy the full size but I travel a lot with work so I prefer to have travel-sized cosmetics so this is the perfect opportunity to get another.

mimiretz

I’ll probably go with the Briogeo hair mask; love that brand. And I like the bracelet in the add-ons, too. Perhaps the charger also. If they offer the curated box for sale like they have in the past I might pick it up.

Reply ButtonReply

Andi

For the second month in a row I think I am going to go with the curated box. The pink box is a lot cuter and most of the products are things I would use, like the blush, and hand cream, and especially the micellar solution which will be nice to have in a travel size. (LOVE anything micellar!!!) I just wish they would stop with all the Parlor samples, I am not a fan of their products so far.

Reply ButtonReply

roxxie

guess i’ll be picking the briogeo conditioner mask.. and cancelling my other account cause other than the points there is nothing i have wanted on the other one sooo yay more money for another box!!!! think i’m going with allure been loving their samples that i have been seeing!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

I think I’m going for the au natural trio. Some of the things look good in the curated box – like the marcelle, the Dr jart and the blush – but another Parlor hair item that just won’t use….yuck.

Reply ButtonReply

Kori

I’ve been wanting that Laura Geller blush for a while so I might pick the curated but if I don’t I can always use a hair mask so I would pick the Briogeo. I’m glad they’re focusing on more natural products.

Reply ButtonReply

kelsqi

yay!!!!! I love Rifle paper co! (doesn’t everyone?) I prefer a surprise each month, so I’ll be picking a sample choice, but that curated almost got me this month, it’s a good one!

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

I was super disappointed with my Cargo eye shadow colors from the March box (I haven’t opened the sample, just googled the colors), but otherwise loved my March box. Looks like I’ll be getting the curated April box though!

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

I am between the curated box and deep conditioning mask as it looks like a decent size. I received Laura Geller blush back in May 2015 and I have been using it constantly like 3-4 times a week since and it still hasn’t hit the bottom of the pan yet! This one is a little different, more shimmery, so maybe it is not as highly pigmented. I love Micellar water and Tocca anything.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

I got this Briogeo mask in an ipsy bag last year. It’s just a coconut-smelling conditioner, that’s all.

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

Thank you! I was just given a large Wella hair mask, so I think I am good for a while. I might go for the curated box.

Maggie

After a 5 month break, the curated box got me good. Birchbox, I’m back! I might even add a 2nd box with my back-up account after the 1st, since the March box isn’t too appealing & I definitely don’t want 2 of them. I even added the fat eyeko liner, I won’t use it (if i’m using eyeliner, it’s going to be bright or metallic or both, & always a pencil) but I bet it’d be great for my mom & her painful arthritic hands.

Reply ButtonReply

Cara

Me, too! I’ve been on a Birchbox break, but the curated box PLUS the fact that it’s in a fabulous Rifle Paper box pulled me back in! I love that blush and if it’s the same size as the one in last year’s box, it’s very generous.
