This month’s bag arrived at the end of the month. Each bag comes with a neat little info card that describes all the items and instructions on how to use them. The card can really come in handy because many times there are no English instructions on the items themselves.
February’s theme is “All About You.” Beauteque explores the secrets to flawless face and hair. I’m all about skincare so this is sounding like a good bag.
This Scinic cleansing foam has honey and banana extracts to help hydrate and smooth the skin. It has a slightly floral scent and good foaming action. Although my face felt a little tight and dry afterwards, the cleanser does a good job of washing off basic makeup.
Beauteque Exfoliating Brush – $25
Wow. This face brush has the softest bristles I’ve ever felt. They almost feel like rabbit fur even though it’s all synthetic. The matte pink handle feels velvety as well so everything about this brush is soft. I used to use my Clarisonic until it started feeling too abrasive on my skin. I think this soft brush is a good way for some physical exfoliation without the abrasiveness. One downside, though, is that the bristles are so dense it takes a long time to dry.
Lador Sleeping Clinic Ampoule – $5 (on sale for $3)
This is an after-shower hair treatment meant to recondition damaged hair while you sleep. It smells like generic shampoo. Directions say to rub the ampoule between palms first before applying from root to tip. There’s enough for several uses, though, if you just apply on the ends of your hair. I didn’t see much of a difference other than glossier looking hair.
I linked to Memebox here because Beauteque didn’t offer this in their shop.
Skinfood Rose Essence Lip Balm in #2 – $9.99
Skinfood products are great and I love the brand, therefore I was excited about this item. The lip balm has a strong rose fragrance and I’m not too keen on it, therefore I will have to gift or swap it. It’s a shame though because the balm is supposed to give your lips a pretty and subtle tint!
Anskin Dual Firming Remodeling Powder Mask – $19
Subscribers will receive one in Dual Firming, Moisturizing, or Anti-Wrinkle. I received the Dual Firming kind, which claims to lift and firm skin. Modeling masks are a little different from sheet masks that are becoming more and more popular in the States. They are also called rubber masks because after the mask dries they feel rubbery like putty. I’ve tried these modeling masks from Memebox before and despite the extra preparation needed, they’re quite fun to use. The powder-to-water ratio was done through trial and error. When you see the consistency start looking like pudding, that should be good. I peeled the mask off after around 15 minutes. My skin felt very soft and plump. Pores also looked smaller, temporarily.
I only used 10g of powder but I think 15g would have given better coverage. Don’t be stingy with the coverage here! The mask needs to be thick enough so that it remains soft and rubbery when the time comes to peel it off. Here’s the math: there are 240g of powder total. Assuming I require 15g each time, this resealable bag would last 16 uses. Getting 16 masks for less than $20 is value in itself. I couldn’t find the same type from Anskin online but did see these 700g tubs on Amazon.
Algin, the third ingredient on the list, is apparently a high acne trigger. Despite having oily/acne-prone skin this mask didn’t give me any problems. I tried it on my skin multiple times to make sure there were no redness or break outs. It’s always good to patch test or be careful when trying new skincare. I have entered the Anskin Modeling Mask ingredient list here.
Anskin Ultimate Solution Modeling Activator – $5
This “activator” is basically an enriched solvent that you use to mix with the Anskin modeling mask. Water would do just fine, but if you want to go all out for spa-quality mask treatments, the activator is at your service. There are moisturizing ingredients in this, such as glycerin and aloe and collagen, as well as a host of nice extracts like royal jelly. The color is clear and it’s just a little more viscous than water. I detect a subtle floral scent. I’m disappointed this packet doesn’t have a resealable top as well because there’s enough liquid for multiple uses.

Finally, here’s the bag featured this month. It’s a satiny material with red on one side and black on the other. The BB Bag is similar to ipsy in that each month they send out the products in a different makeup bag. Sometimes the items will be too large to stick into the bag, like this month’s Anskin modeling mask. This is larger than ipsy ones and can hold more things, so I actually like this better than my ipsy bags (they are slowly collecting dust in a drawer somewhere).
Verdict: This month’s BB Bag was great! According to Beauteque the retail value is $76.98. Even though I wouldn’t shell out $25 for an exfoliating brush, I think the value is still there. My favorite is the generously sized Anskin Dual Firming Modeling Mask; it’s perfect for when I want to pamper myself. Overall the BB Bag is a great way to try full-sized Asian beauty products at a good price. I got a 6-month subscription with a 25% promotion discount, so I paid $21.20 this month. I’d definitely recommend purchasing a subscription if this promotion comes again!
