Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Spring 2016
Yuzen is one of the original eco subscription boxes. It’s a mix of spa, beauty and the occasional food item, and everything is made with natural ingredients. (It’s one of those boxes that smells amazing even before you open it!)
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: Yuzen
The Cost: $33 a quarter
The Products: Eco-friendly products to nourish the body and soul.
Ships to: US only.
Each box comes with a fold out card that details the items and brands featured. For each item, they also let you know why they picked it for the box.
EVERBELLE Ultimate Multi-Purpose Balm – 1 oz Value $9.50
This balm smells so good! It’s made with organic ingredients and a blend of lavender, geranium, rosewood, and ylang ylang essential oils. It’s a-little-goes-a-long-way type of product, so this one ounce jar should last for a while!
AIMEE RAUPP BEAUTY “Love” Aromatherapy Stick – Value $8
This is an all-natural essential blend! It’s a mix of Bulgarian pink rose, ylang ylang, jasmine and sandalwood. I don’t really smell the rose (which works since rose isn’t my favorite), but in general, it smells floral and beachy – I’m a fan!
80 ACRES OF MCEVOY RANCH Hand & Body Lotion – 2.5 oz (Travel Size) – Value $12
(Good to know for swaps – this tube has an inner foil seal)
The info sheet did not indicate scent for this product, so I’m guessing there will be variations for subscribers. I received Blood Orange, and the other available options are: Verde, Lavender, and Cedarwood.
The scent of this lotion is surprisingly subtle. I was first thinking I wanted a strong citrus scent (I LOVE citrus everything), but since this is a body lotion, it probably is better that it isn’t too strong! The lotion formula is really lightweight and absorbs quickly, too.
ESLOR Chlorophyll Lifting Mask – .5 oz Value $11.20
If you haven’t tried this mask before, you may be surprised when you open it up because it is a BRIGHT green gel! (I guess the Chlorophyll name kind of gives it away, though). I’ve tried this mask before and it’s really refreshing and gentle (aloe vera is one of the main ingredients), and you only have to leave it on for a few minutes for it to dry – a quick mask is a good mask in my book!
MYCHELLE DERMACEUTICALS Refining Sugar Cleanser – FULL SIZE! Value $25
I am SO happy this is a full-size item! This cleanser is an exfoliator as well, and the sugar in the formula makes it smell like meringues! I thought the formula was pretty gentle too – but my favorite part is definitely the scent!
I always think of Yuzen Box as a spa box, and this item fits the bill. This mineral bath has a blend of ylang ylang, bergamot, and ginger essential oils. (And it is safe for spas and whirlpools!)
WEI OF CHOCOLATE bite-sized treats – Value $4
Here are the flavors I received: Citrus Infused Wei Joyful, Super Dark Wei Radiant, Himalayan Salt Wei Inspired, Rose Chili Wei Love.
I’m not the biggest dark chocolate fan, so I just tried one (the citrus – good but not sweet enough for me), so I’ll be giving the rest of these to my mom – she’s a much more sophisticated chocolate lover than I am!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $73. I think that’s great for this box – and I’m really happy with the item sizes, too. And as always, this box feels special and all the products smell wonderful!
