This box came with a fold out sheet detailing the beauty item for the month and the new colors launched.

Julep Nail Color in Finley – Retail Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Jenica – Retail Value $14

Finley is described as a "Navy smoke crème," and Jenica is a "Wrought iron metallic." Normally I don't go for darker colors, but I like these selections.

Here are both on (from Julep):

Julep Eyeshadow 101 Creme to Powder Eyeshadow Stick in Slate Shimmer - Retail Value $18

I really love Julep's eye shadow sticks! The pigment is great, but depending on how heavy you apply it, you can get a much more subtle look. Here it is swatched:

And as always, I appreciate that all of Julep's beauty products are paraben-free!

This box also came with bonus candy and a coupon code for $10 off a purchase of $20 or more (Expires April 15th, 2016).

Verdict: I'm happy with my selections this month. I think of all the makeup products Julep makes, their eyeshadows are my favorite, so I knew I'd be happy with my picks! What do you think of the February 2016 Julep Maven box? Which items did you pick this month?

(FYI - all Julep Maven subscribers also got a bonus nail polish this month if they claimed it. I managed to post about it and totally forgot to claim it, so that's why it isn't in this review!)

I was looking at their new Kiss ‘n’ Tell Mystery Clutch. Has anyone gotten any of their mystery clutches before? It says the value is $150. Also, there is a coupon for a free eyeshadow 101 stick with a $15 purchase with code febeyes.

I was hoping to like the eyeshadow sticks as well. I bought all but one of the colors and half arrived broken at the base and the shadow comes flying out when I open the lid. Pretty much they are useless. One has also since broken when I used it very carefully. 90% of Julep products have been amazing, these are in the 10%. Wish I hadn’t wasted my money.

I just joined Julep for the first time and got my first box today. There was no chocolate in it and my beauty item was a face sponge. I was hoping for something more makeup-y as I’ve read that people really enjoy their eye products or lotion products. Hoping next month perks up a bit! I did like the colors I got. Shawn (a bright poppy color) and Paulina (a glittery peacock color). I’m wearing the Paulina right now and it really is a striking color.

Quick question to anyone — I am used to using OPI polishes. I really like the brush/applicator — what would you call it? The brush/applicator that puts the paint on your nails — anyway, I really like the size of the OPI brush. I found the Julep one smaller and I was really hitting the sides of my fingers and skin and cuticles a lot more than usual. I had to go back with a Q-tip and nail polish remover to clean up after my nails were dry. I like the larger brush/applicator better. Does anyone know where I could purchase like a plain brush/applicator that is a bigger size that I can use for these polishes? I get very messy when using a smaller brush for some reason.

Hey Darla!
I’m not sure about the brush, but just wanted to let you know that you can completely customize your Julep box each month. You can choose between 3 curated choices or you can swap out all 3 items and choose whichever 3 you would like. This is why I love Julep so much, I always know what I’m getting and they are items I’ve picked. Just log in to the Julep site next time the boxes are open and you can edit it as many times as you like. There are tons and tons of options.

This was my first month with Julep. I chose the oxygen base coat and top coat along with an old color–Missy. Then I threw in the gold nail tape from the leftover choices at that point. I just discovered painting my nails–in my thirties…. So far I love Julep, but because I bought the birthstone collection and a mystery box prior to subscribing, I already feel like I have an excessive amount of nail polish. Somehow, this didn’t stop me from buying more at the secret store and extending my subscription to 3 month prepay… I think I’ve developed a problem…. haha!

I’m in my fifties, sorry, but the beauty addiction never ends:)

Tanya

I am in my early fifties too and I am loving all of these beauty subscriptions. You don’t quit wearing makeup once you turn 50 but boy do I wish these were around when I was in my teens, 20’s and 30’s.

Ragan

I discovered subscription boxes when I was 35 or 36 (now am 38). I went from having no nail polish to having like 200 of them. Oops.

Oh crap. This is my future. 😀

Amanda

Have you joined the Julep Swap site? My addiction got even worse once I joined that! Haha.
