This month's theme is Galentines & Valentines! This box ships at the end of the month, so I appreciate that this is the theme of the January and not the February box! Also, I love that this card includes "what to watch, read and play" suggestions! Reminder! Shondaland returns February 11th! 🙂

This set has 4 cards:

I think I'll use the Captain America card for my husband Eric's Valentine's day card - Captain America is his favorite super hero! fanmail-jan-2016-red-queen

This box also included the first five chapters of The Red Queen. I've read this book and enjoyed it. It's one of those books that gets your attention in just one chapter, so I think this sampler will encourage quite a few people to buy the book!

Verdict: I thought this was such a fun and thoughtfully put together box! The value of this box is tough to determine since most items are exclusives, so I think it is better to just ask yourself if this box is worth $22 to you. It's worth at least $22 to me, so I'm happy, and now I really need to find some time to read Outlander!

The maker of the nail wraps, Espionage Cosmetics, has a new subscription called BOOM!box–I think I emailed you about it to add to swaps. Anyway, they just sent out their second box, and it’s nerd makeup [I just got it Friday but like to save opening sub boxes as a reward for doing my homework]. Not sure if I can post a link to the site in the comments, but if you click my name you can see my review of it! I am super excited for the February box because the theme is “most ardently”, or what I just referred to as Austenesque.

Check it out! Nerd makeup, and other nerdy things + glittery glitter =D

Oohhh, that does look really neat, must resist! And I took a look at the jewelry sub they’re beta testing…looks a little confusing, but interesting!

The Outlander book series is amazing and very different from anything I’ve ever read. The tv series is excellent as well with an excellent cast. I highly recommend both!

I love everything in this box. The cards are too cute and I often wear nail wraps. Whatever I didn’t use I could certainly gift. I pretty sure if I read the sampler book I’d wind up buying it. I’m just afraid if I order this subscription I’ll get POP vinyls and things I’d never really use:(

Jenny

Hi Katie! Jenny from FanMail here! I’m super happy you like this box! We only have pop vinyls every once in a while. We also always try to put in practical or interesting items that subscribers can use even if they do not know anything about the theme/fandoms! Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,
Jenny

I want those Orphan Black nail wraps so bad! So sad they’re exclusive to the box. I’d totally buy them from their website. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I’m so glad you are reviewing this box. It looks too cool. I love all the cards and that necklace. I wish I had the budget for it.

I’ve read all the books and watched the show. The books are a big commitment (they’re really long and all-engrossing! You will accidentally stay up all night reading them, or at least I did!!) so make sure you have the time before starting! They are amazing, though. They’re extremely well-written with amazing characters. Parts of the second one lag a bit but it’s worth pushing through for the rest of the series!! The show, as others said, sticks very close to the books. Or so far at least! I am someone who pretty much NEVER likes the tv/movie interpretation of ANY book (with few exceptions like Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice). I love the show so much and love the books even more! Ahhhh now you’re making me want to reread the series and I do NOT have time for that right now!!!

Those cards ? Love them… Especially doctor who. Anyone who wants to swap or sell them please let me know!

Jenny

Hi Jillian! Jenny from FanMail here! We actually just put the greeting cards set up in our shop if you want to check them out!

Jillian

Thanks Jenny! I’ll check them out. 3 more months of PopsSugar for me then I’m thinking it’ll be time for some FanMail! Keep up the great boxes 🙂

You need to both read Outlander AND watch the series. They are actually very close to one another – at least the first season. I forced my husband to watch it with me, and at first he was reluctant, and then he totally fell for it – even watching on his own!

The guy who plays Jamie is so ridiculously hot, and so the character is so ridiculously honorable and nice, that it’s almost comical and yet so impossible not to fall for. I can’t wait for the series to start again.

That said, I wasn’t really fond of the latter books in the series, just the first couple. Though I do look forward to seeing a Jamie who is closer to my age 🙂

Outlander is one of the best series I’ve ever read! And I read them a longgggg time ago when first came out. She’s an amazingly detailed writer – I feel like I’m THERE when I read those books! Recommend very very very much!!

Melanie

I can’t say enough good things about Outlander! The Starz series has done a good job of keeping the feel of the books. But read the book first! Maybe it’s the picture but both those rings look silver, one should be gold…

Susan

It looks like these are the rings from the TV show. I love Outlander so much! I even named my dog Ian. The books are amazing!

Liz Cadman

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll move the series to the top of my to-be-read list! Have you watched the TV show?
