This month's project is a leather catchall! I was very excited about this month's project! I always love when I'm making something useful. Plus these little trays are trendy right now, and they can be pretty expensive!

On the back of the card is a variety of ideas for different leather designs. I like that they give suggestions on where you might take your newfound crafting skill after completing the project. Conveniently, you can buy more supplies at their online shop.

FYI, Darby Smart does not include instructions in their boxes. Instead, they provide a code you can use on their website to look up the instructions. Just a note in case you have a preference, but I guess you could always print out the instructions.

These are the materials that were included for the project. Usually, the things you have to supply yourself are things most people definitely have. I only had to supply scissors this month.

One of the many things I love about Darby Smart is that once in a while, they send you a really valuable tool that you can use forever. This month they sent this awesome leather working tool! Score!

This is my completed catchall. It turned out pretty much as I expected, but now I wish I had tanned the leather before starting the project because I'm not in love with this color. The good news is that I can untie the cording, tan it, and put it back together. Darby Smart included plenty of extra cord if needed. I love the design!

Verdict: Darby Smart is one of my favorite subscription boxes! I love their project selection, and their projects are usually pretty simple and turn out fabulous! My only disappointment this month is that this project was a little too simple. It took me about ten minutes to complete. Sometimes that's okay, but at the moment I have crafting fever! Fortunately I can use this new leather tool on anything, so maybe I will go and upcycle some belts.

What do you think of Darby Smart? What will you use your new leather tool on?

So weird but this is one sub I can’t seem to give up on. I liked my first box but the last 3 haven’t wow’d me. I keep hoping for something I am excited about. At least least the tool is heavy duty, that’s a plus.

HA! I feel the exact same way, Michelle. I liked the first box a LOT, but not blown away by the last 3 boxes. I also hate to give up on them, as they’ve had some awesome previous boxes. I think I’ll give it a couple of more months, but if nothing wows me, I’m giving it up.

My daughters got me a three month subscription. I thought it was cool when the first one came but was totally disappointed with the other three and that you had to go online to get the complete instructions to do the “craft”…..no cool tools in any of my boxes!! 🙁

I got this box as well. What a great idea to use the tool for making extra holes in belts! How awkward is it to try to gouge a hole into a belt with a knife!

I loved this craft. Yes, it was quick and simple, but I’d never really worked with leather before.
Some people were complaining that it was junk and cheap and not worth it. I looked up that tool online and it ranged from $10-16 depending on the site (amazon, joanns, michaels)
Looking forward to making more leather goods.
