This was the first thing I pulled out of the box - the parent's guide. It gives a brief explanation of everything included and what to do with it all.
Wow, check out this trunk! This is really nice for a child's keepsake trunk! Plus you know how I feel about boxes within boxes!
Inside the trunk was this handbook for treasure hunters. It gives general guidelines and some information about the package and future packages.
This is the child's passport where he or she can record information about him or herself, plus collect stickers from Greg's travels around the world!
These are the stickers that were included in this month's package.
This is a puzzle. It took my son and I forever to figure out how it worked! Inside was a little scroll that was encrypted...
This is a really nice journal where your child can work out puzzles and clues, and write things about his or her own travels. It also includes a code key inside to solve the mystery of the encrypted scroll! My son finally busted the code, and the scroll turned out to have a website address on it!
The website address led us to the second portion of this subcription, the online content! New content is posted every Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a new show is posted weekly. That's a lot of online content! My son was able to see pictures from the places Greg has been to already and do activities like an online coloring book. It was really fun! It also had a clue about the next place Greg will be visiting, and my son figured it out!
This brings me to my favorite part of the subscription. The pen-pal thing is real! My son can email Greg (or even snail mail), and he will get a response! My son sent Greg his guess about where Greg will be traveling next, and Greg emailed him back right away to confirm! This was pretty exciting for us. I am impressed that Greg can reply to all the little ones personally like this! Very cool!
Verdict: This is a really exciting welcome package! I'm impressed with the quality of the materials supplied. I think it also gives the kids something to do and a little taste of what's to come with the subscription, but still leaves plenty of mystery and anticipation for the coming months! The online content is especially educational, and the personal correspondence is a wonderful touch! I think My Amazing Pen Pal is going to be a big hit!
