The theme for the upcoming GlobeIn January 2016 Box is… Bathe! More from GlobeIn:

This month we invite you to celebrate the bath. So much more than just a perfunctory routine, bathing is one of our most intimate rituals of relaxation and renewal. For many of us who lead busy lives, the shower is the one sure place to which we are able to make a daily retreat, and where we may tend, gently, to the rejuvenation of both body and mind.

We hope that January’s collection of products, handcrafted from some of nature’s own most luxurious materials, inspire you to indulge in this most precious of time-outs and enjoy all the softness, smoothness, and scents that come with it.

And the latest spoiler is:

Each Bathe Box will come with a Hand Towel from Turkey (Retail $12). Colors will vary.

It is little surprise that a culture famous for its bathhouses would also be renowned for its finely woven towels. Since 2004, when he established his small business Bambu Tekstil, Turkish artisan Oktak Esgin has been infusing longstanding traditions with global innovation.

After 14 years of working in the professional world, Oktak’s determination to bring more employment to his hometown led him to embark on his own venture. Oktak has successfully brought both new materials and new products to the market, and is constantly in search of new technologies to bring to his craft. He employs 45 members of his community.

Your soft new cotton hand towel is the result of Oktak’s dedication to traditional craft combined with an eye for inspiration from around the globe.

And in case you missed the first spoiler:

Each Bathe Box will come with a Pestemal Bath Towel from Turkey (Retail $25). Colors will vary.

A small town in Denizli, Buldan has historically boasted production of the finest hand-loomed cottons in Turkey. In the Ottoman period, resident weavers were tasked with weaving the outfits of sultans. Even today, almost every household contains a loom.

Guler Sucu is a member of Atlas, a growing organization of weaving families in Buldan whose members earn a living through sharing their ancient craft with global customers. While her husband looms, Guler creates the towel’s characteristic fringes. Each fringe supports some cost of her home, whether a school book for her children or firewood for the stove.

A traditional accessory to the Turkish bath, your 100% cotton pestemal towel absorbs water faster than a regular towel, dries quickly, and folds up small.

Measurements: 39 x 67 in (100 x 170 cm)

Suggested use: Tote along to the pool or use for baby care. Machine wash in warm or cold water with like colors. Line dry or dry gently, avoiding drier sheets or high heat.

  1. I got 2 separate shipping confirmations for this month’s box. I signed up for the 6 months recurring sub, so I hope don’t get charged twice. Anyone else have this issue? I guess if I do get 2 I can gift one…

  2. I just signed up because of the towels. I actually like that they are not likely to match. I have an eclectic style, so that works well for me. I just moved and most of my stuff is going to be in storage for awhile, so I’m happy to get a couple of different Turkish towels. I’ve been studying Globein for a few months – looks like nice stuff benefitting others. Looking forward to my first one.

  3. I’m really excited about this box! I’d personally rather have colors that don’t match since they’re from different artisans. I just think it’s be too hard to match perfectly so I’d rather have coordinating colors.
I’m also getting the Bespoke Post Steam box. I’m really excited for both. For me they’re different enough that I want/need both. BP ones are terry cloth lined and these aren’t, BP only had blue and gray colors to choose from where these are brighter colors. I’ve even used the one from the Burke Decor box as a blanket a few times, I probably wouldn’t use the BP ones as a blanket since it’s terrycloth lined, but I could use this one as a blanket or small throw.

Just can’t wait to get this box and the Bespoke Post one too 🙂

  4. whether they match or not, I think they’re gorgeous! I hope that even if they don’t match, they at least coordinate. I wouldn’t like to get, say, yellow and purple. But if I do, I can deal with it.

  5. It will be interesting to compare these with the ones we’re getting from Bespoke Post. Both tend to send out high quality items but BP’s are usually exceptionally good. If these compare well with BP’s, it will speak highly of the quality of GlobeIn’s selections.

    • Are the BP towels fair trade? I am assuming GlobeIn are.

      • Ooh, good question. I have no idea.

  6. The towels are made by different artisans so I doubt they’ll match perfectly. It wouldn’t matter to me as I don’t use bath towels as decoration, and the chances of any particular bath towel and any particular hand towel both being on display at the same time are minimal.

But while I’d be happy to try ONE Turkish towel, trying 2 is a bit much.

I unsubscribed after seeing the BATH spoiler, so for me it’s a matter of whether I resubscribe now or wait until next month. I may actually just subscribe to the one-item box for this month.

  7. On sale…Jawbone UP2 fitness tracker…..guess I’m out since I just got a Fitbitcharge HR for Christmas.

    • Oops…supposed to be in the Popsugar Target post!

  8. Not sure how I feel about these spoilers. They’re beautiful towels, but I’m not sure I really “need” them. Are they worth the hype? They don’t really go with our bathroom decor (plus 1 Turkish towel in a family of 4 might look odd hanging on the wall). We’ve got beach towels… we’ve got fast-drying, light-packing travel towels… They’ve already taken my money so I’m getting the box but kind of unsure about the personal value on this one, especially with 2 towels. I wish we’d get at least 1 spoiler before the funds came out or an option to skip a month or something. I love the curation on the boxes (have gotten the last 3) and am not quitting Globein, just not really feeling the towels.

    • You can email them and skip th month if you want.

      • Seriously? You can skip months? That would make this sub waaaaaaay more appealing if it were true. I had it for 3 months and hated the November box and wasn’t too keen on the December box so I stopped subscribing.

        • I’ve emailed them and skipped months without any issues. It is awesome! Not that I have skipped the past few months, I have been loving these boxes 🙂

  9. The next spoliers will probably be that wood thing with the handle and a snack.

  10. So this is basically the same offerring as BespokePost for $16 less. I too would like to know if the hand towel and bath towel match. I got globein for a couple of months, but nothing was practical for me. These would be super practical and I love Turkish towels, but would hate for them not to match.

    • Not exactly the same. I was weighing them against eachother and went with Bespoke Post. Their towels are terrycloth lined and like everything else I’ve gotten from PB, I’m sure they are great quality. I also liked the other items they included, but the deciding factor for me was that I can choose my color and that I can buy a pair. Also the one-time box cost for Globein is $35 and the Bespoke Post price is $45 for me every month and I always have the option of skipping and don’t have to unsubscribe, so the cost difference for me more than makes up the quality difference and convince of not having to unsubscribe. I’m sure both will be great, PB just works better for me.

      • That was supposed to be “convience”

    • I went with bespoke post because I liked that I could pick the colors for the towels. I used code handyman (20% off) and got the box for $36, so only $1 more than this box and worth it to know the color I’ll be getting. Plus I was able to get a matching set by ordering new two boxes and picking the same color for each

  11. Okay, I wasn’t actually expecting a hand towel to go with the bath towel.. but they are pretty! I wonder if we will get matching sets or random picks?
