Skinn Cosmetics Caviar Lip Cream in Ruby - FULL SIZE! Value $22

I love when just one full-sized item in the box is worth more than the cost of the box! This lip cream is highly-pigment with a semi-matte finish. (Swatched below). Like almost all matte lip products, I found this one to be a little drying, so I layered some lip balm on top!

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Champagne Problems - FULL SIZE! Value $15

My Trust Fund Beauty collection grows! I like a shimmery gold, so this will work into my nail polish rotation soon!

allure-beauty-box-jan-2016-mally

Erno Laszlo Transphuse Eye Refiner - 1 ml Value $7

This eye cream is a light gel moisturizer. I found it to be gentle and refreshing, but fortunately not life-changing since it is $210 an ounce!

Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Liner in Black Navy - FULL SIZE! Value $20

Looks like Mally has new packaging with an attached brush! This eyeliner glides on very smoothly and the navy color is almost black. (Swatched below):

Schmidt's Natural Deodorant in Lavender + Sage - .5 oz (Travel Size) - Value $4

I was pleasantly surprised to see a smaller, natural beauty brand in this box! This deodorant isn't for me (I prefer stick form, and I think I had a skin reaction to it when I tried it years ago), but I love the scent and I know so many people rave about this brand, so I'll be swapping or donating it.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - 1 oz Value $4

This is a cult-classic makeup remover/cleanser, and I'm happy to get more of it. If you are new to using oils as a cleanser, the instructions are pretty simple:

Dispense into dry hands, then massage onto dry face to dissolve makeup, dirt and other impurities. Rinse thoroughly.

allure-beauty-box-jan-2016-night-cream

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream - .5 oz Value $7.40

This isn't a new discovery for me, but I love this cream and my skin has been extra dry lately, so I feel like this arrived right on time! The formula is very moisturizing but still pretty light weight. The only thing I'd change is to make it fragrance-free.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $79 - great job Allure Beauty Box! I think that's one of the highest values I've seen from this subscription ever, and I love that there are 3 full-size makeup products, and the other products and decent sample sizes too. (And no perfume samples!)

I stopped sub boxes because of all the red lipstick and black eyeliner (even with using it on almost every kid in the neighborhood one Halloween, I still have more than I can use in 10 years). This Allure box, is my case in point. I love the idea of the skin items, but please sub boxes….lay off the red lipstick and black eyeliner.

I just received a special extra gift in the mail from Allure also. I received the Tangle Teezer brush and a sample of Kaplan MD cellular rejuvenating concentrate. I love both of these. Thank you Allure for the wonderful beauty boxes and now the extra gifts. I am really enjoying my membership. I subscribe to several other beauty boxes and have been trying to decide which ones to cancel, but there is no way I will be canceling my Allure beauty box any time soon. They are awesome. Thank you.

Hi there which others do you receive monthly?? For sure keep Allure though it’s amazing!!

I finally got my first box and I didn’t get the lipgloss. I have emails many times with no response. I’m definitely not a fan and will be canceling already. It’s sad cause I love allure. I’m part of the beauty enthusiasts and have gotten freebies so I don’t get how the beauty box is sooo bad.

This month was my first month and I really liked that there are unusual products in this box. I cancelled Glossybox and Boxycharm because it was the same thing over and over. My husband knows how much I love getting my subscriptions in the mail though so he signed me up for this one and I think it was a good call! I agree with a lot of the comments about the red lipstick however, I must have received seven in the past couple of months!

What a terrible customer service Allure (Beauty Box) Live Chat has! To ALL my questions someone named Markell answered “I do not know”. Every – single – question. When I pointed out that such service is unacceptable, the employee ended the chat on me, saying she has no idea when my box will be shipped, and wishing me a happy day!! Is this a joke?! I did save the chat transcript for someone in charge to see what sort of customer “care” was being provided. Being a first time subscriber, I’m so worried that this is going to be a nightmare experience all the way 😐 Will I actually receive the box that I was already charged for?

Elizabeth

I also talked to Markell via Live Chat and he is terrible!

I just went thru the same thing. There customer service chat is HORRIBLE!!!!!! I asked a question, they sent a reply, asked if I needed anything else and before I could respond they ended the chat. Then I call customer service regarding my account and now I can’t do anything to my account unless I call customer service. So disappointed in Allure.

Nat

same thing happened to me… i was charged 3 weeks before the box shipped… i tried email and web chat and got the same result… we’ll email you when it ships… no answer to my question or sorry for the delay… i was just asking why i was charged 3 weeks ago and didn’t have a box, i thought maybe it was lost in the mail… this is the first time it’s ever happened, so first time i’ve had to experience the allure customer service… hopefully it’s a one time thing, for the past year i’ve always received the box within a few days of being charged

I’m new this month too and on my account it said shipped & I didn’t get a notice so I emailed & emailed and right when I was about to call I got an email saying my box had not shipped yet. Then the next day I got the shipping email that was only a few days ago. Every sub box I’ve tried has had problems. The worst 2 things that has happened is one sent me melted broken products (Ipsy) so I nixed them cause they didn’t even send me stuff from my quiz. This month (birch) sent me a product in a box with no product in the box. (Birch is replacing it and handled it quick though). Even worse customer service? Yep try getting ahold of glossybox. I don’t even think anyone works there. The beauty boxes have gone down hill fast! I just wish Sephora would roll out play like they said they would in 2016 but when I email my response was next year (2017). Macy’s would be great to and in talking with them it looks like more people might get boxes next month.

I love this website as she tells what products, pricing & description. On my site I look at the ugly truth of how bad these boxes are and how they get you with one good product or a spoiler you don’t get in your box. Crazy. Sorry for the rant!!!! but it felt good!

Hi Allure I also have had bad experiences with customer support via email and they shipped my replacement December’s box and I was told at that time I was all set to receive my January box and it was being shipped, then this person tells me I will not receive January’s box and I was charged for it and I want it asap as this is not right n I really do not want to cancel again as I do love receiving your beauty boxes every month but to be told I was in deed getting my box this month as it is the box I reallyyyyyy want and reason I did resubscribe and then the customer service person the second one says I’m not getting it please send it

Kiki

Hi,

Yeah they have terrible service via chat..but, I’ve learned with them to just let things evolve organically with their subs..they always get to me in one piece but, usually about the 3rd or 4th week of the month..but I’m thinking of ending my sub with them use that $15 towards Glossybox or Boxycharm. 🙂

everything in this box looks amazing. love that Mally Liner and the Trust Fund Beauty Polish!

When I signed up for this month, Allure charged me $10 but they do state that they will charge you taxes if you’re in a state that charges. I’m in California so sales tax for online orders is 9% also, so they did charge me an additional $10.90 but then cancelled the original $10 charge. So maybe this happened to other people depending on what state you’re in?

Reply ButtonReply

Patti

I resubscribed to this box based on this month’s samples and the $5 off coupon. Within days I was brought back to the last time I subscribed and had to deal with all of Allure’s screw ups. I was immediately charged the $10, great. Then I checked my account today and see I was charged an additional $11. What the hell?? I’ve already emailed them asking why. When they had some old boxes on sale last year, I purchased 3. I received my confirmation email but was later told they had sold out of 2 of the boxes I ordered and were just shipping the one. I told them forget it and to refund the full amount. They REALLY need to improve their site and how things are run. I will be cancelling again. Just Birchbox and Ipsy for me, I guess.

I recently cancelled 2 subs, and as soon as I get caught up on the state of product overload I’m currently in, I’m signing up for this one!

This is my second Allure box and I love it! So happy to try the deodorant and the DC oil is one I’ve been wanting to try. Love the nail polish and can always use the other products. Great job Allure. This box is a keeper

Donna

The box looks amazing! Unfortunately, I have way to many of the same products, and it just doesn’t make sense for me. I hope whoever got this box enjoys it, because it is a wonderfully curated box.

Reply ButtonReply

Desiree

Loved everything in the box but the hideous ruby lip creme! I applied a little and my family was like “what in the world is on your lips!?” I look like a clown! Another red lipstick in the trash..

Reply ButtonReply

Mary K

LOL…I know what you mean, and sub boxes have been giving out red ones like crazy, probably because of the holidays. Red is such a tricky color, it has to be just the right shade and texture to work. I love it when it works tho! 🙂

I liked this month’s box except for the eyeliner. I have at least 30 eyeliners and cannot possibly use any more. I’m curious to try the deodorant and cleansing oil. I’ve been impressed withTrust Fund Beauty nail polish — this is my third one from sub boxes. Glossy recently gave me Champagne Socialite which was rosegold so now I have a pale gold to go with that one.

The DHC cleansing oil is one of my favourite to use!
I’d recommend following it up with a foam cleanser though, to ensure that all the oil residue is off your face.

Reply ButtonReply

Rookala

With the exception of the fire engine red lip cream (WAAY-AY-AY too bold for someone my age, 50-ish) I loved everything in this box! I’ve been using the DHC oil cleanser for years and it is my daily “cant-live-without” cleanser. So glad to see more people will be sampling such a great product, and I appreciate having an extra travel-size bottle. The deodorant is interesting, nice fragrance, but a little clumsy to apply – it kept crumbling – and then it took two soapy hand-washings to get it off my fingers. I’ll stick with my stick, but it was fun to sample a different product. All round, January’s Allure was a great box!

Donna

I know that none of us will change your mind with regards to the red lipstick :). I know many women who refuse to wear bright colors due to age :). However, part of the reason women wear brighter colors with age is because it makes them look more refreshed. I am sure that you will look gorgeous with the red lips. I never thought that I can wear red, and I thought that I looked like a clown when I first started wearing it. Now, I feel pale and drab without it. Give it a try :).

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

I totally agree, Donna (and Mimi, Denise, Jamie and Ragan)! It takes a little bravery to wear something really bold when you’re used to nudes and pinks, but the payoff can be beautiful. There’s no need for people to put age limitations on themselves. 🙂

mimi

I’m 57 and regularly wear bright reds, dark purples and deep berry lipsticks. While I agree that you shouldn’t wear something you don’t like, don’t let age be a barrier!

Reply ButtonReply

Loving

So true! Love your way of thinking… I want to feel that way when I reach my fifties!!

Jamie M

Definitely not! Women do not turn into pumpkins when they hit their 50s hahaha. Red lipstick is definitely a preference, but you’re right, age shouldn’t be a factor. My maternal grandmother wore orange-red lipstick her entire life and it was so classic and stunning. My paternal grandmother is 97 and still rocks her signature magenta lipstick. I love it.

Ragan

I am only 38 but I can easily see myself wearing red lipstick in 20 years. In fact, it may take that long for me to work through my current collection…

AmyM

Wow! Super-solid box! If I didn’t already have a huge backlog to get through this would definitely make me re-sub. Hopefully it’s the start of a great year for them and I’ll jump back in when (if) my stash starts to shrink.

Reply ButtonReply

Misty

My sentiments exactly! Great box, but I have way too many products in all of these categories! A couple of years ago before my stash was built up I would have jumped on this!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Since when does that stop us? Ha! I just re-subbed. #ihaveaproblem. 🙂

Happy

I just ordered this box as my first with the $5 off this is so worth the $10 I paid for it.

pianoprincess1989

Wow, this box looks great. I can’t wait for mine to get here! I know I will probably love that lip color on me. I recently just fell in love with reds.. 🙂 So, Excited!

Bella

I just received my January box. I love it. Can’t wait to try the products. They also sent me an extra box from Nov. that I paid for and are now sending it. Better late then never. Very happy with allure

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

I don’t think mine has shipped yet, but looking forward to receiving the box. I usually gift bright lip products and some eye liners since I have enough. I will give the natural deodorant a try!

Reply ButtonReply

Khaleesi142

? everything in this box! I’m even looking forward to the eyeliner-it does almost look black so much better than blue lol. I’m happy to see the DHC oil, I tried it a years ago before oils became popular it’s so light and so is their oil moisturizer! 🙂

Shanna

When did you guys get your box? I haven’t received mine yet.

Reply ButtonReply

Hi Shanna – I also received mine on Monday, 1/4. I live in Pittsburgh.

Shanna, I received mine on Monday, 1/4, and I live in New York.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

If I sign up now will I get the January box?

Reply ButtonReply

DebbieD

I ordered last night and the email I received didn’t specify so I just called them and they said yes, I would get the January box. Hope this helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Thanks ladies! 🙂

Kelly

I called them today because I realized that the card I had on file for the subscription had expired. She told me that I was just in time to still get the January box. I would recommend calling them at 1-800-288-1678 instead of doing it online. Maybe you will be in time too.

Hm, right now the top banner on their site says: The June box begins to ship on 6/5/2015 … so I emailed them to ask about cutoff dates for this box. I’ll update you when I hear back!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Thanks Liz! I saw that “June” ship date. Ha!

Jen

This is a great box. I cancelled last year right before they re-grouped. Is this unusual or are they always this good now?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

This box definitely stands out to me in terms of value and sample sizes, so to be honest I’m not sure if future boxes will be this good…

Kiki

Hi Liz,

Quick question I’m also with Allure Beauty Box but, I couldn’t find a friend referral link and the rep I chatted with had no idea about ANYTHING I asked her..so annoying. So I thought I would ask you if you know where or if we have a referral link..

Thanks,

Kiki

I didn’t get the eyeliner. Until I saw your review, I figured it was either the eyeliner or the lip color, but now I’ll e-mail them. Besides that, with the exception of the deodorant (I agree — I dislike anything but sticks) I like the contents of this box. I love the color of the lipstick. I’m just getting into cleansing oils, so I’m excited to try this one.

My last two boxes were missing a product, trust me they are terrible responding to emails but great over the phone. Hopefully my box this month will have all the products. This by far my favorite make up sub!
