Breathe

Decanting. The process sweeps away sediment and adds oxygen to your pour, bringing a new level of complexity to any bottle. It's an age-old way to quickly aerate wine, which deepens the flavor and brings subtle nuances to the surface. Not to mention the fact that it just plain looks cool. So rather than going straight from the bottle to your glass, you can let your wine breathe in style.

The Churchill

(This is a re-release. Check out my review of The Churchill box to see what you can expect).

These aren’t any old cigars – they’re limited-edition blends from the godfather of top shelf smokes himself, Ernesto Perez-Carillo Jr. He’s a third-generation maker from Cuba with 40+ years of experience under his belt, and makes some of the best cigars around. Complement them with the ashtray made from historic reclaimed wood from Europe, and an alluring candle to freshen up the air once you’re done.

The Standard Issue

It’s inspired by vintage military shoulder packs, with a heavy, densely-woven canvas body and an even tougher cordura nylon base. There’s plenty of room for a long weekend’s worth of necessities, plus a few small goods in the easily-accessible outer zip pocket

Refresh

(This is a re-release. Check out my review of The Refresh box to see what you can expect).

Your dopp kit — and the grooming gear you pack inside — should be just as sharp as the rest of your life. Combine ‘em, and your morning will have a stylish breath of fresh air. You’ll look clean, polished, and put-together both at home and when it’s time to hit the road.

Torch

The flame chars the white oak plank (that’s the same stuff bourbon is aged in), which will give off a few wisps of aroma-filled smoke. Capture that in the jar, pour in a cocktail, cap and shake, and let the smoke lend a unique woodsy note to the boozy flavors. Then just pour, serve, and soak up the awestruck admiration of your drinking buddies

I was interested in the Torch box, but the torch comes w/o butane. Now maybe that is for safety reasons, but no butane means if I gift it, they will probably never use it, and I was hoping to send this to a particular buddy of mine. Even if I kept it, it would take me a while to remember the special store trip to get it :/.

Breathe doesn’t ship to me so no dice there either.

They have cool boxes often though — I’m happy to skip and wait.

I am generally excited about the Breathe box but I did some digging and that taster kit from Lot 18 that you send away for is part of an overall subscription; once you taste your wines and rate them, they begin sending you 12-bottle cases of wine unless you opt out/cancel. Or at least that’s how it works if you subscribe to Lot 18 on their website…so I’m assuming the same process would apply via the Bespoke Post “gift card,” although I didn’t see any details on the Bespoke Post site. I was going to give this as a Christmas gift but I’m thinking I don’t want my gift recipient to be surprised by the wine subscription if they choose to sign up for the tasting kit and don’t read the fine print. No sense in giving them homework as part of their gift, you know? Haha. 🙂

FYI, the tasting kit seems to have a value of $9.95, in case anyone is wondering! But I only found that by Googling a third-party article from 2013, since Lot 18 hides all the fees on their website so you can’t find out how much it costs until you sign up…which is another reason I’m hesitant to trust them. Also, their club seems to have a similar production process to Club W, where they spin it as “no middle man, savings directly to you!” but another way of looking at it could be that the wines are ones you couldn’t find in stores besides their own, aren’t independently reviewed, aren’t ones you could discuss with your friends unless they’re also subscribers, etc. Wine clubs like these still offer lots of upsides, but I thought I’d just share this info in case someone is looking for a different type of experience!

My bad! I just looked again and in the description copy on the Bespoke Post website they said “(no credit card and no extra purchase required)” about the tasting gift card. That’s awesome! I guess I must have missed it the first time. Phew, now this box is totally gift-worthy. 🙂 If I could edit my previous comment I would…ignore the crazy, paranoid lady in the corner!

I am new to Bespoke Post and am trying to change my monthly selection as I do not want the dopp kit – but can’t figure out how. Anyone know how?

Tamara

Try going to the page for the dopp kit, and selecting the “Opt Out” button that should be under the header image. Then go to the page for whatever box you do want, and click “Add to Club Shipment.” There’s no clear 1-to-1 way to swap on one page, but you basically just remove one box and find the other you want. Hope that helps!

Awesome! Thank you so much! It is not very clear at all. I was worried that if I hit “opt out” I wouldn’t be able to select a different box.

Cindy

Does anyone know of any deals on this subscription? I know Groupon had one but I missed it.

Skipped. I would totally have picked up Breathe but the wine won’t ship to Canada 🙁 Would have been nice if there was an alternative instead of “it’ll make a great gift for someone.”

I love the breathe box, this is going to be perfect.

Did Bespoke raise its price? It was $45/box and now the homepage is saying $55/box.

I believe the $55 is if you are not a subscriber. Hope that helps!
