Verdict: The major issue I have with this box isn't with the nail polishes, but the names of these polishes. Every box so far has had different names of polishes based on the decade it is inspired by, but I think this is the first time I've seen them name polishes after tragedies. Technically the 2001 polish is named Never Forget and not September 11th, but the 2005 polish is just named Hurricane, and I can't figure out how naming a nail polish after Hurricane Katrina is a good idea.

Naming issues aside, I've been very impressed with the Square Hue polish formula.

They actually hinted at the different grey shades in a blog post. Although I wouldn’t necessarily like it every month (though that could be a theme for a year), I find it interesting. Having three different tones of a color can lead to awesome stuff. As for the names, it is a bit curious, though I don’t mind them all that much.

I’m not crazy about the names either, and I think it’s a real lack of creativity to send 3 silver polishes. I am, however, interested to see what they’re going to do next year.

I actually cancelled my box this year. I loved the Passport collection but was bored with the variety earlier this year. I resubscribed when they added the option to get two polishes and my first month I got a silver and a red-ish color and the next month I got a darker red and a darker silver grey. I cancelled and I’m happy I did after looking at this box. I can’t believe they went with three silver polishes and don’t get me started on the name Hurricane. I miss their originality.

I agree this is the crappiest set all around. Way too much gray and silver this year. I really liked the Passport collection, which is why I was so excited for the Decades. But I have overall been disappointed with the Decades collection.

The 2000s were the worst – all they could come up with is three silver polishes?! Also, I missed the old hint previews. They need to bring those back. I definitely would not have purchased this box had I known it was pretty much just silver.

Wow those names are incredibly insensitive. Tragedies are not “fun themes”

I completely agree about the names this time around. It’s like all that happened this decade were two tragedies? And a TV show? womp, womp. I’m also happy I didn’t get this box because who needs 3 silvery metallics? I know that they’re slightly different shades/finishes but I already have received a silver polish from SquareHue – their 1920s box – and missed the one in the 1970s box. If I had taken all three boxes, I’d have 5 (!) silvery polishes! And that’s insane. Add to that, the price increase, and I’m out 🙁

Oh I should have mentioned that – American Idol’s first year was in 2002.
