What do you think of the November 015 Play! By Sephora box? My box envy for this subscription continues - I'm not sure of the sample sizes, but this looks like a great box!
PLAY! by Sephora is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month, Sephora sends you a mix of six samples (including cosmetics, haircare, skincare, fragrances, and other beauty products) personalized to match your preferences and a PLAY! BOOK of tips and tricks.

It seems like they are choosing the beauty bloggers and vloggers and gurus online. Makes sense – savvy marketing by Sephora Corp. They spend nothing on marketing while those online people can really get the word out for them – to millions of subscribers – all for free to Sephora! The subscribers basically pay Sephora for the privilege to market for them lol! So that can explain some of the seemingly random test markets.

I live in Boston proper & I am a VIB Rouge. I actually received multiple email asking me to sign up for the box. Too be honest, I haven’t been overwhelmingly impressed. The boxes thus far have essentially contained the same products I’m offered free with purchases via email, mobile offers or could use 100 points to obtain. Thus far I’ve not been sent any items I’d purchase in full size. To be honest the contents of the majority of subscription boxes I’ve tried ended up as giveaways to others. The best sampling value I’ve found to date is when Barneys offers it biannual beauty bag

I love that these are the 100 pts samples that I could theoretically get for $10 one day in the new Play! box…while I’m patiently waiting in LA for my turn 🙂
The way I see it, I would have to spend either $100 to get 100 pts for one sample (or if I was smart, more like $33 during their 3x times, I’m a total Sephora fan ?).

Patiently waiting on a December spoiler for Play! By Sephora 🙂

Got the invite! Now I’m going to have to give something up. But no way in December, that’s January’s problem 🙂

This is the first box I’ve seen that I’m super interested in. So many great items!

Given that most of you don’t have access to this yet, I’ll be quiet after this, but I just have to say that the Bite lip crayon is amazing – gorgeous color and texture! Love!!
I’ll be quiet now. 🙂

Yes! Buxom Dolly! My favorite!!

I like this box a lot! Glad to see some makeup samples in here. I am most excite about the makeup forever primer sample! I wish the bite lipstick was a darker shade of red because I still have the Nars bright red lip crayon from the sephora birthday gift.
I really have no idea how I got chosen for this box. I do live near Boston which was one of the targeted areas, but I am only a VIB. I have been an insider for a long time but don’t spend too much at sephora. I was wondering if they somehow knew that I am a birchbox subscriber and also used to be an Ipsy subscriber. Who knows but I am loving it so far!

Most of these have been 100 point samples in the last year — is Sephora cleaning off their shelves, or what?

You know I have noticed that too. I have seen many of these items in the 100 point section or in their promos they send in emails. If you buy $35 worth of products enter promo VIBBLAH. I have gotten Dolly for free in the past, and I have seen the blue eyeliner, argan oil, MUFE primer (3 different you could choose from) also. Also in the past boxes I noticed the same items too. Maybe the first few boxes are these extras they had left over and then they will start with new items in the new year. None the less if most people don’t buy from Sephora these are nice items to try and a great deal. I do like Bite Beauty and Buxom.

This will be my third box and I can’t wait to get it. The first box was meh but I loved the 2nd box with all the skin care products. I live in Texas as well.

Definitely not happy to see two lip products in the same box! Makes me debate on the box as I am inundated with lip products.

Sell the box to me then! I’d luv to have it!

I live in Indianapolis and this will be my 3rd box. I’m not sure how I got in but maybe they are counting me in the Cincy region since it’s so close to me. IDK. This does look like a great box and I think mine arrives in a couple of days.

I don’t think it has to do with the state you’re in but rather the amount of money you spend at Sephora. I live in MS in a town that doesn’t even have a Sephora but I got an invite because I spend obnoxious amount of money at Sephora… Too ashamed to published how much, lol.

I have spent $1600.00 at Sephora this year and have VIB Rouge status and have not been sent an invite. Knowing my luck, I live 2.5 hours from St Louis, Missouri and they are probably going by zip code.

I am VIB Rouge and am still spending obnoxious dollars, but can’t seem to get approved. I’m in Las Vegas, so I was thinking that was why since it was supposed to open in limited areas until 2016. Or, am I remembering incorrectly?

I spend way to much at Sephora and have not got an invite. ? well you snooze, you lose Sephora. My money’s been going to Ipsy and birchbox and others ?

I never shop at sephora and I got a subscription.

I think it has to do with geography. My sister and I are both on the wait list, and while I haven’t bought anything from Sephora in years, she regularly spends a lot there and has for a long time. She won’t even consider Birchbox even though I rave about it because she gets so many free samples with her Sephora orders. Of course it probably doesn’t help that she gets my Birchbox and Glossybox cast-offs 😉

I live in Mississippi too! It’s ridiculous how far I have to drive to go to a Sephora. I’ve spent an obnoxious amount too, but didn’t get an invite 🙁

Im not sure region has anything to do with it at this point. I am in Louisiana and still on the waitlist. I know some other people posted in October they got the invite from here. I have been on the waitlist since the first day it was open.

when are they going to open this up to everybody?

Yay!!! Mine just shipped yesterday & now I’m super excited!

Thank you for posting this. I was pretty bummed about still being on the wait list but this makes me feel better. They’re nice items, but gloss, liner, lip pencil, and perfume are not items that I get excited about.

This box is fine I suppose, but I am so bummed that I wasn’t able to sub for October. October’s box looked amazing whereas, at least for me, this one is pretty meh. I may just list the whole box on eBay.

The thing about Sephora versus Macy’s, for me, is that they have several exclusive brands that I love, like Bite and MUFE. Last I checked, you could only get those at Sephora or their own brand websites. They also have a lot of brands that are just not available at Macy’s that, again, I love, like Hourglass, Kate Somerville, Surratt, Viseart, or Nars. You just don’t see products from those brands in other beauty boxes.

I even live in one of the test markets (Cincinnati) and have been on the wait list for months. Makes a ton of sense….. Anyways, this box isn’t very exciting to me so I guess that’s a plus!

I learned something random. I asked the local rep about states outside the testing cities getting it like Texas and he said he wasn’t surprised by that one, Texas is where Sephora does a lot of their testing.
So far the sample sizes have been deluxe like they ones they have under their rewards.
I’m not a big makeup person (prefer skincare/body), but I still love this box! I hope they stick to their word and open it up to everyone in early 2016.
