The Monthly Mani Box (MMB) by Scratch is a nail wrap subscription service.  Every month Scratch collaborates with different artists to curate the MMB.

“Our wraps are screenprinted on a thin adhesive with 5-free polish inks.  They go on smoothly and last like real nail polish.  Unlike other nail wraps, ours look like genuine nail polish when applied. Win win!”

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Extras and Accents this month include:

GoNaturally Organic Hard Candy - Blood Orange - Value: Priceless

Now I know why Liz says gummy treats get eaten right away.  Gone in 60 seconds!

Nail Art Glitter - Value: $2.50?

There’s a ton of shops that sale glitter, I could not pinpoint this exact color.  I’m a total novice with raw glitter but I’m sure I can pull up a few tutorials on YouTube.

Etude House Sweet Nail Sticker in Black Lace - Value: $2.00?

I’m doing a lot of estimating today.  I found a few other black laces on sale, but couldn’t find this exact design.  Either way, I really like them.  It’s best to lay it on a flat surface to peel the adhesive off it’s very fragile at the ends.  I was hoping to cut some down for Abi, but unfortunately there’s a “Not for 0-3” warning on the back.  I’m not afraid that she’ll choke on it, but I don’t know what the adhesive is made from.  So, I’ll adhere to the label’s instructions.  I’m excited to find a tutorial for glitter and lace nails for a formal affair coming up soon.

Surprise Gift

Plastic Spider Ring - Value: $0.50

I must have laughed at Bekki too hard, Karma came back and bit me!!

I love this ring in a way.  It takes me back to my younger years.  When all I wanted was a ride on the horse outside of the grocery store and a gumball from a machine that probably hadn’t been sanitized since it’s creation.

Tools

Nail File - Value: $1.00

Cuticle Pusher/Accent Tool - Value: $1.00

Lucky Black Cat Nail Wraps - Value: $8.00

My absolute favorite wrap this month.  This wrap is deceiving to the touch.  You would think that it’s rough from the glitter, but it’s just as smooth and easy to apply as all of Scratch’s wraps! Awesome! The glitters shimmer in the light and I hope we get more wraps like this in the future.

Zombies Love Brains Nail Wraps - Value: $8.00

I don’t like scary movies, but I love The Walking Dead, World War Z and Plants Vs Zombies.  I’m weird, right?!  I’m saving these wraps.  They’re so bright and pink, I think it will be cool to wear them in the Spring.  But honestly, they probably won’t make it past Valentine’s Day.

Dancing Skeletons Nail Wraps - Value: $8.00

I decided to hold off on using these wraps until I get some black nail polish.  I found the “black tips” of the black lucky cat wraps very unforgiving and I needed some black nail polish to cover my mistakes. My nail polish and wrapping is far from perfect and I swear I’m always doing my nails as I’m trying to run out the door.  Am I the only one like that?

Verdict:  What a fun box?!  This month’s box had an estimated retail value of $32.00 just barely over the asking price.  What’s great this month are the glitter wraps.  They’re incredibly unique to anything I’ve ever received before from Scratch and I hope they continue by adding a line of plain glitter wraps.  I’m loving the curation this month as well, they brought back some great childhood memories that made my day.

Has anyone tried these wraps? How long does a set last before peeling
? My last set of nail wraps only lasted about 2 days before coming off?

They also offer a smaller $10/mo version of this sub – I just got my first one this week. It had a set of night sky constellation wrap set, a bottle of Sinful Colors “Black Diamond” polish, and a nail art brush. I’d be happy to take a photo if anyone is interested. You have 3 different wrap sets to choose from each month for your “box” (sent in a bag) and then they pick the rest. The wrap choices for December are adorable!

I would love to see a picture of the smaller box. I’m new to wraps so having three packs in the larger subscription would just be overwhelming.

Ok, here’s a collage I made of the $10 November Scratch Nails Kit: http://ATLanticipation.com/scratch_10_november_kit.jpg

In my comment above, I mislabeled the polish they included. It’s CHINA GLAZE “Black Diamond” (and not Sinful Colors). The nail wraps design with my kit is called “The Truth is Out There”. (I had my choice of 3 different wrap designs and that’s the one I selected.) The wraps included a mini nail file and orange stick as shown. And they included the blue nail art brush as well. I inserted stock photos of the polish and wraps, too, to be as color-true as possible.

I haven’t had a chance to try the Scratch wraps yet, but they seem very similar to the “Nailed It!” wraps I have by Espionage Cosmetics. I’ve included a photo of one of the “Nailed It!” packs next to one of the Scratch packs for comparison’s sake. I get about 2-3 days more wear out of my Espionage wraps than I do with Jamberry wraps. With both Scratch and Espionage – first you apply the wraps, then you file them down, and after that you put a top coat over them. There is no heating required. (I use Butter London Hardware or Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat with my Espionage wraps.) I’m expecting the Scratch application and wear to be close to or the same as Espionage. I’ll post a photo once I do a mani with the Scratch ones and report on wear-time.

For the upcoming December $10 Scratch kit I could choose one of 3 styles – white sweater, plaid with bows, or glitter snowflakes / icicles on a pale Tiffany blue background. I picked the snowflakes design and can’t wait to see them!

Would it be possible to see what the wraps look like on your nails? I’m hesitant to try nail wraps and am curious how they compare.
