This is a review of the Surpise Hairbox.

Hairbox Subscription Review November 2015 - note

This little thank you note was the only paper included in the box.

Hairbox Subscription Review November 2015 - shampoo-conditioner

Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo - Value $9.68 on Amazon

Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner - Value $10.99 on Amazon

This is my shampoo and conditioner for the month. This brand is touted as being a "technologically advanced marine-based" shampoo and conditioner. I'm just listing what I received for now and will go into my evaluation process after showing you what I got.

Hairbox Subscription Review November 2015 - foam

Scruples Creme Parfait Volumizing Styling Foam - Value $11 on Amazon

This is my styling product for the month.

Hairbox Subscription Review November 2015 - biosilk

BIOSILK Silk Therapy Lite - Value $9.99 on Amazon

This is my mystery beauty product for the month. It's supposedly made with real, natural silk! It also gets rave reviews.

My hair is very long (past my waist) and very thick. I rarely heat style it. It's always been very healthy, and healthy looking, but lately I've noticed that the ends look dry. It also used to be stick-straight, but as I get older it seems to get wavier, which I like, and more prone to frizz, which I hate. I took Hairbox's questionnaire and was able to relay all this information to them.

My goal for my hair is to keep it looking healthy. I would like for my hair to be long and wavy, but still shiny and without frizz. Volume is great as long as it doesn't start to look dull. I tried my products in different combinations for four days. These are my results.

Day 1: I tried just the shampoo and conditioner. My hair just drank the conditioner right up! It felt great and not weighed down too much. It also laid down flat (no frizz) but still curled where it usually starts curling. The ends still looked dry.

Day 2: I was in a hurry and just used the shampoo. It was a lot less dry and frizzy than it usually is, but it was still pretty dry at the ends. As a side note, the shampoo and conditioner both have a very light but great salon smell.

Day 3: I used the shampoo, conditioner, and foam. I got pretty much the same results as on day 1. I didn't notice any additional volume. I am guessing that if I had skipped the conditioner or heat-styled my hair, I would have gotten the extra volume, but this didn't do anything when in combination with conditioner and my regular styling routine of doing nothing.

Day 4: I used the shampoo, conditioner, and silk therapy. This was magic! I will say that it took forever to dry naturally, but once it was dry my hair looked like a hair model's hair. I used this same combination today, and I seriously can't keep my hands out of my hair, it feels so good. It's super shiny, but it doesn't feel or look greasy at all. The very ends still look a tiny bit dry, but much improved. And there's very little frizz, even when I put my hair up, and even though it has been raining.

The Verdict: My first experience with Hairbox was awesome! The value of all four items is pretty much what I paid for the box, so I think if you are looking for a big discount beauty box for your hair, this might not be the one for you. I think if you're looking for help finding the right products for your hair type, Hairbox is likely to hit the nail on the head!

What do you think of Hairbox?
