I had to sign up, this is too good of a deal for any book lover like me to turn down. I am stuck deciding between Barbara the Slut and This House is Burning. I get super sappy when I read books about dad’s being sick because I’m such a big daddy’s girl. Thanks for the tip, Liz! 🙂

So they said to add it to your box if you did the survey, and you will not be charged, but it will show up as 12.99 right now. They said that would change in a couple days or so. 🙂

When I just added the extra book, at the bottom it said I owed $0 for 2 books. Even though underneath the extra book, at the top of the page, it says $12.99. Thanks for the update!

I read So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed. It was a really fascinating read! I’m not sure what I’m going to choose yet- I have sort of (unsuccessfully) promised myself not to buy anymore books but the coupon was too good to pass up.

I’ve been wanting to read The Witches. Also, got the 2nd book so choosing Dan Marshall’s memoir. What a great sub hope they keep up the good selections and service.

I did the survey also so I am going with Barbara the slut and so you’ve been publically shamed. However BOTM seems to think I need to read the watchmaker because it’s stuck in my cart and won’t go away!

How do you do the survey?

They sent an email to a few subscribers last month asking them to take a survey. I believe it was just a random sampling from their subscriber list.

Might I add that the house is burning was automatically selected for me lol so might take that as a sign

I’m not a reader at all and signed up for this ! I’m kinda excited Ive always had a hard time focusing on a book , I don’t do much social media Facebook Twitter etc . But I’m debating between home is burning or you’ve been publicly shamed ? What do you think would be a better read for a newbie !?

Both of those have EXCELLENT reviews on Amazon so I think you’ll be fine either way! 🙂

Oh man… I did the survey to get an extra book (I really wanted The Marriage of Opposites from a past month) so I was hoping I would only love 1 November selection. Nope! Gotta have 2 and the past book. 3 books coming my way. I love this sub so much, they have awesome picks!

How does the extra book from survey work ? Do they just send the book or do you need to do something so you can choose one?

I found the email here is what it says “as a small thank you for your participation, you will receive a free additional book added to your November box upon completing the survey. Just enter your email address when prompted, and we will follow up with you on November 1st to ask you to select your complimentary additional book.” So I would assume since today is a sunday they would email us tomorrow. My account currently has a space for two free books this month. However it will not let me change one of them. I am also not concerned – their customer service has been great from all I have heard so far so I assume all will get worked out

Jennifer

The email I got about it just said to add it to your box. It still showed that I would be charged so I was planning to email them for further clarification but I’m not terribly concerned about it at the moment.

I did the survey to get the extra book too but I don’t have a selection for that … I didn’t think we’d get to choose. How do you guys choose?

I agree – it is really tough to choose just one book each month! 🙂

Liz,
This was too good of a deal to pass up, especially with the bonus code. Although I do feel like I’m cheating on Powell’s (Ha!), they could never offer anything like this price wise. I finally decided on “The Witches” after going back and forth a million times! Honestly, they were all EXCELLENT choices. Between Powell’s (which chooses the book for me) and BOTM (which I choose), I think that makes a good balance each month. Thanks again for the major money saving code!
