Recently, I've been on the lookout for comic subscriptions that are delivering recent titles, so I was excited to come across this one. I loved how it was shipping in a tight package, and I thought the unboxing presentation was phenomenal! The comics were tightly secured when unfolding the cardboard.
The comics themselves are then sealed inside these Blindbox envelopes - creating even more excitement to find out what I had got! It was a fun unboxing, and added an extra layer of protection to the comics.
The shipment comes with a letter speaking to the month's selections, and a sticker.
OK, on to the good stuff...
Karnak #1 - Value $3.99
I'm really excited about this run. With Marvel's reboot happening, and tons of superheroes getting their new look and feel, its easy to overlook a comic like this one (at least for me). This was a great read, and touches more on the Inhumans - which I've read that Marvel is opting to move towards instead of mutants (thanks Sony). Anyways, definitely worth a read if you're looking for something new!
Paper Girls #1 – Value $3.99
I had also received this in Comicboxer last month, and I finally had time to read it last night. Wow, this is the beginning of a unique and exciting story! I loved this issue (it's a double issue, by the way!), and the end is just awesome and keeps you wanting to find out more and more. I picked up the second issue immediately...I'm hooked. It's probably time that I go get hooked on Saga too. Thanks, Brian Vaughan.
I Hate Fairyland #1 – Value $3.50
This was also in Comicboxer last month. Like Paper Girls, I read it last night. If you couldn't tell by the cover, it's not for children, like, at all. I do love the concept, and I had fun reading it. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series, but it was definitely a fun read.
Clean Room #1 - Value $3.99
This was probably my least favorite of the batch. That being said, there's definitely a lot of "what does that mean" and "what is happening" going on here - lots of interesting questions to be answered. So, the path has been laid out nicely for a cool story, but it wasn't a read where I felt I needed to keep going.
Amazing Spider-Man #1 – Value $5.99
Make it 3 out of 5 that we received in Comicboxer last month. Like everything else, I finally got a chance to read this one. I'm definitely liking the ideas presented in this run, and like someone said in the comments, it's kind of like Iron Man meets Spiderman. I like that Parker Industries is playing a big part in the run, and I was happy to get a hint that Doc Oc lives! Check out the Superior Spider-Man run, it's a good read!
Enormous #9 - Value $3.99
Giant monsters. Extinction-level Apocalypse. If you said 'awesome', to either of these, then this series is definitely for you! This is also an exclusive variant cover, and only 1 of 75 copies in the world! The graphic work in here is just beautiful. It's an awesome story (even though I jumped into the middle), I'm thinking I may need to pick this series up too. There's just too much good stuff!
Verdict: I really enjoyed my first month of Blindbox Comics. If I hadn't received 3 comics in recent boxes, I would have been over the moon for this month, that being siad, it was still a great first experience. They did a great job with the unboxing presentation and selections! I'm really excited to see what next month brings!
