Chestnut Spread Puree de Marrons by Clement Faugier (2.75 oz.)- $2.95
Considering that this is a sampler box, I’m thrilled to receive a full-sized product! I’ve tried this chestnut spread before, and I’m a fan, but I’m never quite sure how to use it. Does anyone have suggestions? I’ve done a little online research, and I’ve found recommendations to spread it on toast, eat it with yogurt, and blend it into coffee. I’d love to hear other ideas, though, too, if anyone has them!
Original Milk Tea by 3:15 PM (1 bag)- $.54
This bag of oolong tea contains both tea and powdered non-dairy creamer- so you can have milky tea even if you don’t have fresh milk on hand. I’ve never tried a product like this before, so I’m excited to see it in this month’s sampler box. I brewed myself a cup, and I really like it. It’s sweeter than the tea I usually drink, but I find the milky sweetness extremely soothing.
French Galettes Cookies by Traou Mad (1.16 oz.)- $2.05
These crisp, buttery cookies are phenomenal. The flavor is fantastic, and I think they’d be great alongside a cup of coffee.
Original Rice Crackers by Kameda (2 crackers)- $.50
Kameda is the leading maker of rice crackers in Japan, and these crackers are baked (not fried). They’re really tasty, and I think the seasoning is perfect.
Paella Seasoning with Real Saffron by Paellero (1 packet)- $1.79
I received a full box of this paella seasoning in Yummy Bazaar’s Spanish Full Experience Box. It’s made with real saffron and a number of other authentic spices. I used it to make seafood paella, and I liked it a lot. (Good to know: 1 packet is enough to season 6 servings of paella.)
Truffle Ketchup by Urbani (.2 fl oz.)- $.26
This is my second box from Yummy Bazaar, and both boxes have been packed with extreme care. In the first box, I was impressed to receive a full bag of chips that hadn’t been crushed to pieces, and now I’m pleased to see that the packet of ketchup in this box has been bagged to prevent spillage. This is a pretty small sample, but it’s enough to get a taste for the product. I’m going to save it for the next time I have French fries. I love truffles, so that will have to be soon!
Mini Orange Hojaldres Puff Pastries by 1880 (1 cookie)- $.61
According to Yummy Bazaar, these pastries are a Spanish holiday tradition. They’re flaky, lightly flavored with orange, and covered with powdered sugar. The flavor is delicate and pleasant, but I’m not really a fan of the texture.
Chocolate Bonbons with White Truffles by Urbani (2 bonbons)- $1.61
More truffles, yay! These bonbons are incredibly decadent. As soon as I opened the foil wrapping I could smell the aroma of white truffles, but the flavor is mellow enough that it doesn’t overpower the white chocolate. They’re pretty special.
Verdict: I’m really impressed with this Sample Box from Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club. The selection is diverse and interesting, and I discovered some delicious new products. In terms of value, the items in this box total $10.31. That exceeds the cost of the box, so I’m happy with the value. This is the first Sample Box from Yummy Bazaar, and I think they’re off to a great start!
