Yogi Surprise is a monthly health and wellness subscription box. Some items may be specifically for yoga, but this is more of a lifestyle box. Yogi Surprise recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their subscription service and offered this Limited Edition Anniversary Bonus Box for purchase.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - card1

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - card2

Yogi Surprise included an information card. It has the typical appearance of a Yogi Surprise information card and includes a note of thanks on the back.

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - candle

House of Good Juju Candle – Value $25

There was a House of Good Juju candle in a past Yogi Surprise lifestyle box and I thought it was great. So I am happy to get this one, as well. This one is custom made for Yogi Surprise and isn’t available in the House of Good Juju Etsy shop, so I just linked to the general shop above. The wax is all soy and this just smells great.

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - chocolate

Chocolita Blueberry Lotus (1.25 oz) – Value $4.86

This is unusual. It was good, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to make of it. It is supposed to be white chocolate, but when I opened the package, it was the color of milk or dark chocolate. But it didn’t have a lot of cacao flavor. So maybe one of the additives made it brown? At any rate, it tasted pretty good.

Balanced Guru Seva Amazon Rainforest Body Oil (4 oz) – Value $30

This is a special run of Balanced Guru’s Soothe Me Slowly Body Oil and contains a mix of baobab, jojoba, and avocado oils. I’m hanging on to this for now because I have so many other body oils and lotions open. But I am definitely going to try this soon. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this edition of the oil go towards efforts to save the Yasuni National Park in Ecuador (part of the Amazon rainforest).

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - spray

Gypsy Soul Organics Mother Earth Grounding Potion (2 oz) – Value $9.99

This is a water-based spray you have to shake up before use. The label isn’t much more legible in real life than it is in the photo. I have been using it as a yoga mat spray. It has cedarwood, clary sage, and orange. To me it mostly smells like cedar (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - tea

Tao of Tea Genmaicha (2 oz) – Value $5

Genmaicha is a blend of green tea and toasted rice. I have had it before (not this brand) and it is something of an acquired taste. I’m sure this isn’t the traditional way to drink it, but if you eat some sour candy first so that the sugar coats your mouth, it makes this kind of tea really good.

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - tote

Jane and Rocco Divine Light Tote – Value $10

I’m taking the value of the tote from the information card since I couldn’t get the Jane and Rocco site to properly load. Although I have about a hundred totes, this one has an entirely appropriate message for a box directed at yogis.

Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box Review October 2015 - towels

People Towels (2 pack) – Value $10.99

I’m pretty sure I got one People Towel in my first ever Yogi Surprise Lifestyle box. I have been keeping it in my car, to wipe off condensation from the side windows and it is getting pretty grungy now, even with a few washes. I think these will replace it. (Although now I am parking in a garage so I may not get condensation on my windows anymore. But these should still come in handy!)

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $96 for the Yogi Surprise Anniversary Bonus Box. That’s almost double the price of the box, and a pretty good value for Yogi Surprise. I also like that there were some custom and limited-edition items (e.g., candle, body oil). This is about what I expected from a Yogi Surprise anniversary box – some products we’ve seen before (candle, People Towels), some brands Yogi Surprise has paired up with in the past (Balanced Guru), tea, a little something sweet, etc. It’s a good mix of items and even if one of them ends up not being for you, the value is spread around a little bit.

I really like this box, and everything in it made me smile. I have to say though that I was really disappointed that it did not have a piece of jewelry! Come on, yogi surprise has a
Jewelry box… I assumed the anniversary box would have something shiny and pretty in it.

Those towels are adorable! I can’t imagine using them as rags. I think this is a great box with a good variety of items.

I got this box and I love it! It is very satisfying and I love the green tea – I love the roasted taste of it.

I got this box, too. I’m in love with the candle, always happy to see anything from Balanced Guru, the rest of the box was good but not great. I think one other special sparkly something would’ve been nice in place of one of the other items.
