Scent Trunk is a fragrance subscription service based out of Canada.  The offer monthly services for men, women and unisex.  Scent Trunk founders believe perfumery is art and like art, scents have the power to alter our moods. And, in that light, 1.5% of all sales go towards fighting mental illness.

Thanks Jolisa for picking my fragrances this month!  I love getting to know my box was put together by a “real” person.  I always say, it’s the littlest things that count.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.

Good To Know: Update your scent profile monthly for your curator.  You’ll have a better chance of staying clear of notes you aren’t fond of and closes to notes you love!  And don’t forget to review you samples before the end of the month.  Your curator reads your notes!

Inserts included are very detailed.  The fold-out curator card list the prices, country of origin, history, and even some advise on the back. The individual fragrance cards carry information about each fragrance picked out this month.

Scent Trunk For Women Subscription Box Review October 2015 - 6

Earth by Roberta Andrade – Full Size 2oz – Value: $55.00

Top Note: Fresh Cut Grass, New Mown Hay

This was my least favorite scent this month.  It’s not awful, it’s just not me.  In my opinion this would be great to wear when you’re going to be outdoors all day but don’t want to smell exactly like the great outdoors all day.  I’m quite the house mouse if it’s not summer.  This scent just didn’t speak to me. Side Note: Does anyone else hate the way their kids smell when they’ve been playing outside for hours…or is it just me?

Her Excellency White by Estevia – Full Size 3.4oz – Value: $40.00

Top Note: Rosemary

This was my favorite scent this month.  It’s very grown up!  But don’t’ get me wrong, this isn’t your mama, great auntie or old lady down the way sort of scent.  This is the female entrepreneur with all her ducks in a row slaying her presentation on Shark Tank.  It would be great for any formal dinner or business meeting; anywhere you’re looking to stop the show.  A little bit goes a long way, so two spritzes are enough.

Josephine by Rance – Full Size 3.4oz – Value: $130.00

Top Note: May Rose, Jasmine

This was a close favorite for me.  It smells like Johnson & Johnson baby lotion made for adults who still love that baby lotion smell. ME!! LOL.  It’s really lovely.  It’s so light and airy it seems like I could spray the whole bottle and I would smell exactly the same.  The more I sniff this one and Her Excellency, the more tempted I am to switch favorites!

Verdict:  I’m trying to think outside the box because I know everyone isn’t into perfume samples like I am.  I personally love my first box from Scent Trunk!  I think the packaging is super cute, and the included spray strips and pouch give this subscription a polished finish.  I’ve gotten the chance to wear each perfume twice since I received my box and I only have a few gripes.  I wish the vials weren’t completely covered by the lapel adhesive.  I would like to see how full the vial was when received, and how much I’ve used up now. Also,  I would actually like to see a fourth sample included that every subscriber receives (men, women and unisex box respectively).  I know that’s strange because each month is curated for each individual. I think that one uniformed item each month would allow subbies to see how people liked/ or didn’t like a perfume during the same month as them.  Maybe it could be called “Founder’s Favorite” or “Editor’s Note” something of the sort that Scent Trunk is really feeling.

What are your thoughts on Scent Trunk?  I’m always excited to try new to me brands. Tell me below, what’s favorite scent for Him and Her?

"Smell like no one else. Your personalized fragrance, delivered monthly. Start with the free test kit (just cover $4.95 shipping), and sniff the six fragrance families. Then, design your fragrance by sending your preferences to the Scent Trunk lab."

Thanks so much for the review. I’m so glad you loved the scents I picked out for you 🙂 – Jolisa

I love perfume samples even though I have more now than I will ever use. Right now I get Olfactif and Scentbird, but this looks like a little bit of a hybrid between the two in terms of cost and personalization (same price as Olfactif, same number of vials, someone else chooses the fragrances for you, but you get input into the types of fragrances you like).

I would clearly get a completely different set of fragrances if I signed up, though! I love “Oriental” scents and like “woody” scents but keep the florals FAR AWAY from me.

I love “Her Excellency White”, too! I got the full-size bottle by swapping for my Scent Trunk points (they accumulate quickly!) The folks at Scent Trunk have the best customer service ever – you can email-chat with the CEO anytime – they are THAT accessible.
