GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe-size or full size, and the value is usually really good too. The only issue with this box seems to be the late shipping – I would recommend just keeping that in mind and setting your expectations accordingly if you sign up for this box.

GlossyBox sent us this box early for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

glossybox-october-2015-perfume

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris Aqua Universalis - 5 ml Value $13

Wow - this is an expensive perfume! ($185 for the 2.4 oz version). It's a light scent (good for me), and I love that this perfume mini has a full-size perfume sprayer!

glossybox-october-2015-phyto

NUXE Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals - FULL SIZE! Value $26

(Good to know for swaps - this comes sealed in plastic).

The exfoliating particles in this formula are made from ground Lychee stones and ground Walnut shells! The scent isn't too rosy for me, it has more of a "clean" smell, and I liked how smooth it made my skin feel after using it. The exfoliating particles aren't as mirco as they are in some other exfoliating cleansers, but this one is designed to be used for people with sensitive skin, so I think it is still pretty gentle.

PHYTO Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray - 1 oz Value $7

(FYI - Sephora has a 1.7 oz version of this listed for $12, and when I look at the picture of the 1.7 oz version the label says 1 oz, so the value of this might actually be $12). This is a leave-in spray that prepares your hair for heated tools, and also helps with detangling. I like how lightweight the formula is and the scent is subtle as well. I've liked all the Phyto products I've sampled, and this one is another I can add to that list!

glossybox-october-2015-nail-polish

De Bruyere Paris Red Lipgloss - FULL SIZE! Value $17.50

I'm struggling to find this exact lipgloss for sale online, so I haven't found the ingredients yet. (Neither the lip gloss or nail polish include an ingredient list on the packaging - if you find the info, please let me know!)

This lipgloss adds a lot of pigment, and a good amount of shine without any stickiness - all good in my book! The color looks red in the tube, but comes out almost bright coral. (Swatched below).

LOLLIPOPS Paris Nail Polish in Voyage a Paris - FULL SIZE! Value $10

I have to say, I love the bright red makeup products tying in with the packaging. And a classic red nail polish seems like a good fit for a French beauty box too!

glossybox-october-2015-swatch

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $73. I think that's great for a $21 beauty box, and I'm very happy with the sizes of the items this month. And of course, the packaging made this box extra fun to open!

Probably have already been asked this and all the requests have been fulfilled, BUT just in case, if anyone has the holiday 25% offer code that they won’t be using, may I have it to get my daughter a box.

Thanks for at least reading this.

got suckered in and signed back up for the nuxe…of course I did not get it. Once I cancel this time I am done. The worst thing they could have done was started these box variations and the bloggers always get the good stuff. I am tired of it. To me the beauty of the box was that everyone had the same thing.

I just received another code for 25% off The Limited Edition Holiday Glossybox from a generous swapper. This brings the cost down from $40 to $30.
If anyone would like the code, email me at helenwheels24 at gmail.com

This was my 1st Glossybox and I’m absolutely ecstatic! My variations were the phyto hydrating oil (as oppose to the thermal spray) which I’m very pleased with as I do not use heat on my hair often at all (does glossy truly read our preferences, BC they nailed mine?) Also, I received Carven Me Parfum. It has a wonderful scent & the bottle is gorgeous! Everything else correspinded with Liz’s box. Glossybox just shot to the top of my list of subscription services!!!!

Whitney

It probably would have been too many pics of just the box, but wow – LOVE the bottom of the box!

Instead of getting either version of the perfume… I got a guest soap valued at $6. I am really disappointed in this and this is why I am not renewing my subscription with them.

Reply ButtonReply

Molly

Mine had a hotel soap instead of either perfume. I don’t usually wear perfumes, so I guess it’s OK, but was still a little disappointed, because… hotel soap? Really? I don’t know how much better it is that it’s from a French hotel. Otherwise I liked it. The lip gloss, nail polish, and exfoliant seem lovely.

Brandy

I received a few different items than Liz did. I received the Sabe Masson fragrance stick in Copacabana, VOTRE VU oh lighten up intensif treatment spot creme, and a phytokeratine hair mask. I received the same shade of nail polish and gloss.

Kristi

My first Glossybox was fantastic. Last month was my second month of Glossybox and it was pretty bad for me! One item was already a repeat and the other had gone bad. Customer service was amazing and replaced both items. This month rolls around and my box was absolutely perfect. I got a few different items but am very pleased. The box was gorgeous! I recieved the same lip gloss ($17.50 full size) and polish ($10.00 full size) as everyone else but my other products were different then Liz’s. I got the Le soft perfume ($25.00 full size) jwhich I love. The packaging is phenominal and feminine. I got a different Phyto product, the ultra repairing mask for damaged hair (deluxe sized apx. $10.68). My last item was Votre Vu Oh lighten up! Intensif treatment spot creme ($59.00 and is full size)! Full box value $122.18 🙂

I love Glossy Box and their boxes are always awesome. I don’t care when the box arrives as it’s like a unexpected gift to me 🙂 And maybe just my luck but I always seem to get what Liz gets with just the colour/scent variations. The packaging of the perfume I got is awesome and is a roll on which is perfect for my bag. It’s a fragrance called “Rock”

Ramona

Finally got the box super late today…. The ONE ITEM I wanted was the perfume. Didn’t get it. Instead some cheap no smell tiny bar of soap. I’ve been looking to cancel some of my boxes and it looks like Glossybox has made the choice easy for me. Very disappointed in them lately and this box just confirmed my original analysis. :-(((((

TwinMama

After months and months of being continually disappointed in my boxes from Glossy Box, I had big hopes for this box but was let down once again. I too was really hoping for the perfume and received the soap. I wish everyone would either get the same items or we were actually allowed to choose a few of the items each month. I think it’s time to cancel my subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

Khaleesi142

So I got this box because I didn’t cancel in time…love the box design, it’s definitely like opening a gift!
So, yes I received the red polish and lip gloss plus the alt choices. I actually really like my alt choices better- Phytokeratine hair mask and Votre Vu Intensif treatment spot creme EXCEPT for Sabe Masson Soft Perfume, which is a very masculine scent for me.
So, kinda disappointed for what I didn’t get, but pleasantly surprised for what I did. Also, excited about their holiday box, but also anxious!

Beth

This was my last chance with Glossybox and was so hopeful after seeing early reviews of this box. Of course, I end up getting the “alternate” products. No perfume or scent of any kind. Sigh…so done with Glossybox forever.

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

How do you cancel with Glossy? Do you HAVE to call them on the phone or can you email them?

Thx

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

You can cancel online. Scroll down to FAQ’s and you’ll find out how to do it. Make sure you receive a confirmation email.
Unfortunately, you must cancel by the 14th of the month prior to avoid receiving the next month’s box. If you haven’t already cancelled you’ll be getting November’s box.

Vanessa

I got this box for the mini perfume, of course I did not get it.
I hate Glossy now 🙁

Love Love Love didn’t think I would like this month’s box, but such a surprise!! I was in love with everything! So pink and feminine and beautiful <3

Can’t help but notice you are responding to positive comments only.

Astra

I also got the solid perfume: I’m fine with that but I think they should think twice about sending items to reviewers that are worth much more. It certainly doesn’t look good. On a positive note, I didn’t get the Phyto hair treatment but instead received a La Roche-Posay retinol treatment, much better for me. And I can never own too many red lipsticks.

Reply ButtonReply

Gabrielle

Hey there Astra,

I am happy to hear you are enjoying discovering new beauty finds with us! The La Roche-Posay redermic cream is a great base before applying your makeup. Mix a small amount with your face moisturizer and your good to go. Your skin will be left luminous!

I have got to quit looking at MSA for spoilers. Every time I see Liz’s box I get so excited for my box to arrive. Then it arrives with different products that have been consistently sub par to Liz’s box and I’m left feeling so disappointed. This month’s perfume switch is actually kinda cruel. $185 compared to the $25 feels like a slap in the face.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary K

Kate, the sample Liz and others got was only 5ml and therefore worth about $13.20. The solid perfume, on the other hand, though the same size, retails for $25, so those subscribers got the higher value fragrance (and way cuter packaging!). Hope this helps ease some of the box envy. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Vallie

That’s right, Kate! I’m so in love with my solid Le Soft Perfume! The packaging is so feminine! But which ever perfume I receive, I’m thankful. The one Liz got is great, because it allows us to try a super expensive but still a sample. But the ones we got are cheaper, but full size. Love the surprises from Glossybox! Please keep up the good work!!

Ragan

Yeah.

I do like the nail polish. Red is my favorite color. I have like 20 red polishes. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want more.

But yeah. The MFK perfume is one of my favorites ever. I will now be saving up Birchbox points for the next year so I can get the FS from their shop.

Helen

So, is this still mysubscriptionaddiction or are we on a Glossybox Customer Service forum?
If you’re reading this, Gabrielle from GLOSSYBOX, I ordered your October box a few day ago. Please be kind and allow me to use the coupon code inside the box for your Limited Edition Box. Actually, the main reason for ordering, to be honest.
I really don’t care what you put inside the October box, as long as I receive a usable coupon.

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

Was definitely looking forward to the MFK perfume.

Did NOT get the MFK perfume.

Still do not have my replacement product for last month’s broken blush.

Not happy, Glossybox.

Gabrielle

Hi there Ragan,

Please contact our Customer Care team at [email protected]. They can provide you with tracking information for your replacement item.

I tried using my code for the holiday box and it worked until I started checkout with Paypal. The page failed to load. I started over again and when I entered my code and I get the message about my code being used the maximum number of times. My order never got past the cart stage so I’m very frustrated. I emailed them to ask for a working code so hopefully they will respond before it would sell out. I’ve only gotten the auto response telling me they will be in touch soon, hopefully not long. I’ve had fairly timely responses in the past but it’s never been on a potentially time sensitive issue so crossing my fingers…

Reply ButtonReply

Katiemama6x

As a follow up, I called customer service and talked to a very nice and helpful girl that made sure my order had gone through. Even though Paypal page hadn’t loaded properly since I had logged in before it failed my order went though. That’s the reason for the code showing as used. Looking forward to seeing what’s in the box ☺️?

Anyone looking to swap the box only? thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

I just received mine so am behind the curve a bit. Someone probably already mentioned this and I’m too blind to see it but mine came with a gold card that said “Let’s Celebrate” and the back said pre-sale for only our loyal customers – “The Limited Edition Holiday GlossyBox” It went on to say the box would have a value of over $120 and gave a link along with a 25% off promo code to use on the box. I was just getting ready to cancel my sub but I did order the holiday box first and the promo code worked. Sorry if I’m repeating news already shared/shared elsewhere. Hope the holiday box will be a good one

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

Hey Karen!
Is the code a one-time use? If not, would you care to share it? I haven’t heard anything so far about the Limited Edition box.
Thanks ?

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

Unfortunately appears to be a 1 time use only code. I had actually pondered getting 2 boxes but didn’t remember seeing qty box when I took link to special holiday LE box (link is bit.ly/glossy_secret_sale although I kept forgetting to put http in front of it since i wasn’t clicking a hyperlink – was entering manually). You can see LE box cost ($40 if no disc) but there’s no qty box. I signed in & tried to use code again – got error saying ‘your voucher has exceeded maximum # of uses”. Maybe someone who got one & won’t be using it could privately send. If anyone got box & didnt get this card in their box, I’d call Glossybox to code if you want it

Barbara

I also got a code and it looks like a one time use for 25% off Holiday LE box.

Karen

Just noticed I also received solid perfume..lol. I’ve never seen one before but I’m fine with it. I’d say out of all the boxes (GlossyBox has always had pretty packaging), but this month’s box ITSELF was a work of art (literally). My daughter gets all my interesting boxes and does her own artistic thing with them but this one is..just precious, whimsical, and reminiscent of the type of drawings in the books about Eloise at the Plaza (even though the Plaza is in NY) – my daughter is going to have to miss out on this box because I’m keeping it!

Reply ButtonReply

Debbie S.

I’m happy with my Glossybox this month. I got this exact box (I’m not a blogger). I wasn’t even going to open the lipgloss because I thought it was red, but now that I see the swatch I think I’ll give it a try.

Reply ButtonReply

Alithea

I got my box todaytoday, and I have to say I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I also got the solid perfume but I’m happy with it because it’s a format I prefer, solid/rollerball over sprays. I was not looking at all forward to the perfume pictured above since most scent samples for women tend to be flowery which I hate. I received the scent Zazou which is green, spicy and citrus, all my favourite notes. The lip colour I received is a deep warm magenta that’s perfect for my colouring. I also didn’t get the Nuxe scrub, but a sleeping mask by Vichy instead. I didn’t receive most anything that Liz got in her box, but I like mine better.

Reply ButtonReply

Gabrielle

Hey there Alithea,

Wow, here at the GLOSSYBOX office we are excited about your thoughts on your box. We would like to thank you for taking the time to comment on your October box! It means a lot that you took the time to share your experiences with others. I take your feedback seriously and I am excited to see your thoughts on your future boxes.
